Former Scunthorpe United Head of Recruitment Lee Turnbull has joined National League side Chesterfield Town in a football advisory role.

Turnbull assisted stand in boss Russ Wilcox at Glanford Park prior to the curtailment of last season and was offered a coaching role to stay on at the club in the summer, but left days before Neil Cox was appointed as manager.

Commenting on his new appointment, Turnbull told Chesterfield’s official website: “I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to assist the club by helping the chairman, the chief executive and the board.

“We have short-term plans in place which need to be addressed and then the focus can be on building a solid infrastructure in order to make progress.”
