STATEMENT: Support for Scunthorpe United staff fundraiser

We can confirm that we have been in close communication with representatives from Scunthorpe United to equitably distribute the donations raised as part of the Support for Scunthorpe United staff Gofundme campaign.

Statement from Iron manager Jimmy Dean

I’d like to start this message by thanking everyone who has contributed to the Gofundme campaign to help pay our Scunthorpe United staff. The generosity that has been shown has touched me and everyone at the club, and shows what can be achieved when the football world stands together.

After discussions between people at the club and the fantastic organisers of the Gofundme, we have decided to split the fund between everyone at the club. That includes the football staff, the players, the office staff, the groundsmen and any other loyal Scunthorpe United members of staff who haven’t been paid.

The reason we’ve asked for the equilibrium is so we can all look each other in the eye, know we’re in the same boat, know that we stood together, United as one, and from this adversity we have all experienced, forge lasting relationships that can drive our football club forward.

It isn’t lost on me how tough life is for everyone right now, I have a wife and four young children myself, and fully understand the cost of living we’re experiencing is extortionate. Your generosity has made a difference to so many of our lives and will hopefully give SUFC its best chance of survival going forwards.”

Yours sincerely,

Jimmy xx

A breakdown of donations is summarised below:

Non-football and support staff will receive a donation that reflects their September wages.

Some non-playing staff have not been paid for 2 months. They will receive a donation that reflects their August wages in full, to bring them up to date with all other staff.

Due to the overwhelming response from Iron fans and football fans around the UK, football staff including players and coaches will also receive a donation towards their September wages.

We are currently working with the GoFundMe Trust and Safety team to complete a letter of attestation, after which which funds will be available to donate to staff.

The Gofundme fundraiser page will be closed at midnight on Saturday 7th October.

The page is currently live and will continue to accept donations until midnight on Saturday.
