Maidstone United boss Hakan Hayrettin labelled his Scunthorpe United counterpart Tony Daws as ‘deluded’ following their 2-0 victory at Glanford Park at the weekend.
Iron boss Daws insisted his side should have been ‘out of sight’ in the game but Hayrettin believed his side were good value for the three points suggesting his substitutions made all the difference, with Jack Barham heading in the opener just four minutes after his introduction mid way through the second half.
“We made the substitutions at the right time and I thought we were better than them in most areas. I’ve read what their manager said – he’s deluded,” the Stones boss told the Kent Messenger.
“I think he must have had a bottle of scotch before the game. I’m not sure what game he was watching. Ten shots to four? I don’t think so.”
Maidstone moved above the Iron and out of the National League bottom four following the away win.
