Iron player tests positive for COVID-19 ahead of Port Vale tie

Iron Bru understands that a Scunthorpe United player has tested positive for COVID-19 in the latest round of Coronavirus testing ahead of the Carabao Cup tie with Port Vale on Saturday.

It is understood that the positive result is from the final set of tests conducted on Thursday as part of the COVID-19 screening programme before the return of football this weekend.

The cup clash is set to be played behind closed doors at the Sands Venue Stadium and is the Iron’s first competitive game since the curtailment of the previous League Two season in March.

It is not yet known whether the positive test will impact the game taking place.

More to follow.
