It’s imperative we keep Beestin. If Swann messes around and we miss out on Beestin because of his stupid stance on contracts I’d be absolutely fuming.
Beestin is consistently one of the best players,we should be building the team around him for the coming seasons….not letting somebody else profit.
I really like Spence but I think Beestin is the better of the two for me…really needs to be kept.
Either Cox deserves an oscar or he is genuinely pleased about Will’s appointment.
I’ll go for the oscar option…and the fact he doesn’t want to get himself sacked.
So, he get’s rid of Turnbull and then ends up signing his son ?
Only st Scunthorpe United eh ?
If Spence only got a years contract when he signed that needs sorting ASAP.
Spence got 2 years. It’s Beestin who’s contract is running out. In my opinion he needs to be signed on a longer deal, there will definitely be teams waiting to snaffle him up.
Beestin is quality, as is Spence.
O’malley played better than Brown has done and Loft to be fair to him played really well. I was really unsure on him but looks to be improving.
McAtee looked really good, as did Eisa and Gillead.
4/4/2 as said many times before is the only formation that we need to be playing…we’re more comfortable than in any other.
reflects our racist, sexist society
John Terry was England captain at the time and was deemed as a player we couldn’t lose. No doubt he should have been severely disciplined but obviously wasn’t.
I’d be careful with the whole “racist society”. Look, there are a small percentage of ignorant imbeciles who unfortunately have our skin colour but let’s not forget, they are just that, a small percentage.
Every race in the world have their undesirables..it’s an imperfect world we live in. The other race groups undesirables behaviour may not go down the racist route but it will manifest it’s self in other ways.
I don’t really buy into this whole “racist society” angle the news seems to favour. I refuse to let a small percentage of ignorant “wrong uns” tar the vast majority.
I’d stick McAtee up top with Loft but Cox would probably pass out to do excessive positivity.
I’d go Butroid at LB. O’Malley will turn out the better of the two but I’d go for Butroid because he has that bit more experience.
Is he related to Peter, or is it a mere coincidence he has the same surname ?
The upturn clearly ended v’s Bolton…went back into ultra negative mode again.
I found this.
https://fmtransferupdate.com/staff/29187952-will-swann
36yr old and is getting paid pittance. I couldn’t find anything else out about him. I tried looking on omnisports website under the client list and couldn’t find out anything on there.
Bit of a mystery.
Should Swanny get more involved in the footballer of the club?
This had potential for a really fun thread until the talk of frequent urinating hijacked it.
Other than donning the strip and playing himself, could he be possible be any more involved ?
We might go down this year with Cox but I can be fairly certain we will definitely go down if he goes.
Are there no better managers out there then ?
It’s ok you saying that Cliffster but we have a manager now who appears to have zero tactical nous and not one jot of positivity in him.
Cox approach to games is really depressing.
It’s one thing to not have options but to have options and willingly go back to a formation which didn’t work before is another thing entirely.
I won’t call for his head but I can’t see it working out with him. I personally don’t think he’s a good enough manager.
We shall see !
Cox seriously needs to get a grip and stick with McGahey and Onariase as the two CB’s. Bedeau was crap tonight, got pulled all over.
There’s been many things to blame….players injured, no experience e.t.c
Tonight though was purely Cox’s fault…changed the formation, to a formation which didn’t work last time.
According the Cox he changed because Bolton have a lot of the ball at the back so wanted our front 3 to go up against their back 3.
The one big problem is, is that if your playing a formation which severely isolates your striker and the ball keeps coming back, what advantage are you gaining ?
Any manager with any ounce of tactical nous would have seen the problem, especially early in the second half and changed it…plain as day a goal was coming.
I was screaming 4/3/1/2 to match their 3 in midfield and at least offer some kind of threat with 2 strikers upfront and 1 in behind to get on the ball but nothing really happened.
Even when he made changes they didn’t really add up.
Going by this evidence, it’s crystal clear Cox’s isn’t/wont be good enough.
Eisa is pissing me off as well….does he not realise that if he keeps coming inside and getting no joy that it’s best to try a different approach ?
Somebody needs to read him the riot act and drum it into his head to actually attack on the outside of his man.
If he can’t alter his game to compensate the changes needed, I’d be tempted to move him on…get some money for him and get somebody in who actually does both.
Eisa seemingly has 1 way of playing, as he’s easily shackled now.
I do however look at Hippolyte and wonder if we’re even capable of spotting a good winger.
All the progress we made as well and Cox goes and does that.
Kev is out so Olomola upfront with Loft in my opinion. I suspect knowing Cox he will go with Loft and Hallam or McAtee in the no 10 role.
I’d personally like to see how Olomola and Loft work together.
I can’t say i’m Lofts biggest fan but he might come good…he’s another that won’t be 100% match fit either.
Hopefully another goal may spark him off. To be fair to him when Kev’s on the pitch he creates room for him to work so in that sense he does a decent job.
I don’t think Loft has played that many consecutive league games either so it’s understandable that he’s a bit rough around the edges.
I do think we need another striker though in January. Cox doesn’t see to rate Olomola. Turan’s substandard.
Loft could get a bit of a rest if needed if Jarvis was fit to come on as sub…pity he’s injured.
I think Beestin looks a really good player..he’s got a much more well rounded game than Spence. Spence is really good at the ugly side but Beestin is also good in being a spoiler but he’s got a pretty good range of passing to his game.
Going from worrying about the CM to having Spence and Beestin in there is miles better. I think they work really well in there.
Beestin and Spence wont be 100% match fit yet either.
Upfront worries me though. Loft does his bit but without Kev we really do struggle to create anything. Their RB today pretty much dominated Eisa which didn’t help the struggle in creating chances.
Eisa, instead of cutting inside all the time needs to go around the outside of his FB, he has the pace but never usually does it.
To be fair to Morecambe though you can tell why they have the best away record in lg 2, really solid but have a few decent players in their team as well.
Shame we couldn’t hold out but 7 from 9 points is pretty impressive and things are coming together now.
Cox said Kev was suffering with Sciatica so hope that settles down…he was brought off as a precaution so fingers crossed he should be alright for Tuesday night.
I’d look to move Hallam or McAtee on in January, with kev we have 3 no 10’s at the club. Hard choice to make though, Hallam I think has the most to offer but he’s injury prone.
If and buts. If Loft hadn’t been so greedy and had squared it to a completely unmarked McAtee….
9 times out of 10 that shot hits inside of the post and goes in. I’d rather Loft took responsibility rather and not show the confidence to take the shot on.
Cox the other day said he trained really well…showing hunger and is fighting for a 1st team spot here so it looks like he’s staying for the time being.
Ideal to bring on now the use of 5 subs is coming into play.
It’s not like we’re short of strikers anyway.
Jarvis Injured. We have Turan as our primary back up, who so far has looked dreadful. Not so sure about this one. I hope this doesn’t bite us on the backside.
I’d have no qualms about the club getting rid in January but leaves us a bit short up top right now.
I think Cox got it right last night, we sat back and they couldn’t break us down. I have a feeling if we went all out attack we would have been picked off.
Ideally we all want to see attacking football but I feel last night was one of those games we simply needed to dig in, they’re more than a decent side at this level. Top 6 side after 10 games so they were no mugs.
Also, we have a number of players who aren’t even fully match fit…they’ll get better with more games.
Financially it makes sense but he would have been handy to have with the use of 5 subs coming in to play. Jarvis is injured so we’re left with Turan as the only viable striker left.
I suppose we would stick Green up there but it’s hardly ideal.
Loft had a really good game. People are saying he should have passed but 9 out of 10 times, that shot hits the inside of the post and deflects in, he was just unlucky.
I’d rather he taken the shot, least it shows he had confidence in his own ability instead of passing the buck.
Gillead was poor but he’s been good all season. I thought young Rowe did well, bit nervy when he picked up the yellow but considering Port Vale was targeting him most of the night, thought he showed promise.
People need not forget that players in this team at present aren’t even really match fit yet.
I just hope Big Kev is ok after going off.
Mcgahey made a big difference as well.
Howard: 6.0
Rowe: 6.5
McGahey: 9
Onariase: 8
Brown: 7
Gillead: 5
Spence: 7
Beestin: 6.0
Eisa: 8
Loft: 7.5
KVV: 7
Gillead out wide for me. Beestin and Spence are more than solid in there and allow the forward players to do their thing.
Let’s not forget, if Loft wasn’t so unlucky last night and he scored we would have won 2-0 away from home against a top 6 side.
Why should we even look to change right now?
Apart from a question mark over Clarke, it’s as it was against Oldham. 4/4/2, you never know…Loft might ever turn in a dominant, targetman masterclass.
Is that pushing it too far ?
Loft does look a bit ungainly at times I must admit. Pity he didn’t have Torpey’s close control ! Old Torps wasn’t exactly a rolls royce type player but he has a really good touch.
I hope Loft develops that down the line. If he continues to make a nuisance of himself and do the donkey work to make space for Van Veen and Gillead and Eisa cutting in from the wing then I’m at least satisfied with him in the team but he definitely needs to work on his technique a bit.
All thought 4/4/2 was our best formation, we’ve never really played any good using other formations. Keeping it simple works best for us, also we have 2 of the best wingers in this division when both are fit, which certainly helps.
EandMee needs to calm down. Taylor is out for the next 2 weeks so we’re really, really stretched in CM now. Also with Vincent out still, only leaves us with Hornshaw and Pugh as back up’s.
I’ll be a lot more at ease when Taylor is due back, leaves he’ll give us another viable option in there.
I’m over the moon with the win but let’s go overboard, it’s only 1 win.
Beestin looks a class above going by the last few matches. You can clearly see how he got 50 games under his belt for donny at league one level.
Beestin needs a contract extension pretty sharpish, he’s runs out end of this season I think.
Well done to everybody. Clarke I don’t think will be available on Tuesday though, you would have thought he’ll need resting.
Beestin being overlooked for Vincent was criminal…not only does the dirty side but get’s forward from time to time and good range of passing..he looks to be a good all rounder.
Bedeau was really good today as well..even Loft did well at times.
If we can continue this upward curve to see us through to January and sign 3 experienced players just to help bolster the squad, we should be ok.
I checked the other day about Beestin and he’s more experienced than I realised, like you say BigToe, he’s played a fair few games at lg 1 level and to be honest I think he’s better than Spence and much better than Vincent ever was.
I still think him and Taylor are our best two CM’s at present. If we go 4/4/2 with two strikers, we could play Beestin alongside Spence and Beestin can be the one who get’s forward a bit and allow Spence to sit in.
I don’t want anymore stupid diamond formations, they don’t work. In times like these we need to simplify as much as we can.
Olomola and Kev upfront if both are fit enough and bring them both off 2nd half…stick Loft and Hallam when both are knackered.
At least with Kvv and Olomola you like to think we’d at least carry a goal threat.
