Is it just Boyce and Fitzy yet to sign up now ?

Once Simon Elliot puts money in and helps the club as much as the 3 mentioned above who have been awarded part ownership, then he can come aboard, but until then he can be the clubs resident show pony.

Away from home 4 at the back with one midfielder shielding the back 4. A 4/1/3/2 formation. Boston played a similar system last season. We don’t have to play with 3 CB’s.

We may play 4/4/2 at home and 5/3/2 away with wing backs providing the width. Butler definitely wants two up there whatever formation he setts up with.

We go from Jimmy Dean who had about as much tactical nous as a piece of wet lettuce and the bravery of the cowardly lion from wizard of oz. Butler comes in clearly loves the club to death, states he wants the team fitter/stronger and is brave enough to play with two strikers and people moan due to way he talks.

Crazy when you think about it.

Been that long since we’ve set out to play positively with two up front. Seeing it in action will be a shock to the system !

Jury’s still out on Butler for me

Of course it’s still out, he hasn’t managed a game in this league for us yet !

Not quite the all-time hero and legend profile his Mrs has been campaigning for then.

According to Butler the information given paints a different picture to Butterfield’s wife. 3 contracts offered with one offering a player/coaching role and turned them all down.

They aren’t the actions of a club/manager who aren’t bothered with losing a player and not putting effort in to keep them. End of the day we have a budget and Butterfield wanted the same money he was getting before, which was silly money for this level and we weren’t prepared to pay it.

    End of story.

I thought he was brilliant. You can tell how much he loves the club and you can’t buy that when signing a manager. Butler’s love for the club shines through and I think he’ll do a good job.

You would have thought Evans and Kouogun will be first choice with Boyce getting the odd game here and there. We need to sort LB out now and see if Denton is staying.

I’d say a proven goalscorer is a luxury we can’t afford but hope I’m wrong

At this level we’ll still have one of the biggest budgets and a proven goalscorer at this level is by no means out of our reach. Elliot was a proven striker at this level and we signed him.

I’ll leave that to Mr Butler. I didn’t expect players in this early, but I expected some movement on an assistant by now. Isn’t Butler giving an update on Monday ?

Paying players £1500 or over is lunacy. From what I read a while ago I think Roberts is on more than Butterfield was. Another questionable big wage on the books. Don’t get me wrong he’s a fantastic player, but will he prove value for money with his injury record ?. I’m not sure.

Only thing worries me is going into a new season with 2 wingers who such questionable histories when it comes to injuries. Law is even more injury prone than Roberts is. Every time Law came back last season he broke down shortly after.

Tamworth had Kyle Finn who netted 12 or 13 from CM, but head and shoulders Butterfield was the best individual player in the whole league that I saw. Only problem is with him being the age he is, he was easily nullified.

As a result of other teams crowding him out it hurt us as a collective because we were heavily reliant on him. When Smith went back it was a case of stopping Butterfield and you stop us. All the teams cottoned on and basically did the same.

Too nice to play against and not fit enough.

if that’s all we can afford then better we go part time.

That’s not all we could afford. Butler clearly wants to go in another direction and he was offered what they believed he was worth. 2nd half of the season at times he was a luxury player and as soon as teams stuck close to him and got at him, he was pretty ineffective.

Butterfield would be a year older, a year slower and all teams would do is just do the same again. If Butterfield was still here naturally the players on the pitch would mostly go through him and it would take away from the other players. #

Butler maybe doesn’t want us to be as heavily reliant on one single player and is going towards a more collective effort for next season. When you actually take a step back and think about the clubs decision on Butterfield, it’s completely understandable.

Think our style of play will be different next season and Butterfield maybe doesn’t suit that brief

Exactly what I was thinking. Had to change from last season as we were often over run by part time players as we were too nice to play against.

It’s not summer until Wonder Goals brings out his list of players scouted from the latest version of Football Manager.

No Football Manager involved. Transfermarkt has a player tracker which lists players from each division. Actually a really good website. Siderite, how can you call two mere examples of free transfers who could possibly cover Butterfield’s position a list ?

    Put the crack pipe down.

A section of fans were distraught over Ogle leaving and wrote the coming season off when Butterfield left. Ogle not really that fussed about now Barrows has signed . Butterfield even though is a fantastic individual player at this level, I actually think we’ll be better as a unit with a more athletic CM with more energy who can play a bit.

Reading what we’ve read from Butterfield’s wife, Butler wasn’t really that sold on Butterfield and clearly wants to go in a different direction. No doubt we need a more fitter, mobile starting team than last season.

Ogle not really that fussed about, Butterfield you can fully understand and Elliot is replaceable. I should think that with some astute signings to add to what we already have, we’ll be just fine.

Looking forward to this coming season.

We need 2 strikers, 1 RB , 1 GK, 2 wide players and somebody in replace Butterfield.

Hope Butler can find an alternative to Butterfield although he could have been fitter he will take some replacing

It’s unrealistic to expect we’re going to find a comparable all round player, but I’m sure they’ll be some at this level who would do a good job.

Good options available. George Glendon the captain of Chester City is out of contract. 29yr old who scored 12 goals last season. Liam Waldock 23yr old CM from Alfreton Town who also scored 12 goals last season with 2 assists and he’s out of contract.

No, I’m not saying we’ll sign them or that we’re linked, but they were merely an example of potential options available to us.

Butler clearly hinted he wants a more solid and fit team. Last season we were over run by fitter more robust part time players and how many times did we come back from a goal down ?

We need a more robust team with more energy and stamina. Clearly Butterfield wasn’t the top of Butler’s list and was offered what he thought he should have been offered, he’s decided not to take it so we move on.

Butterfield was way above this level, but when he started to markedly slow down in the second half of the season he used to get overpowered and overrun and Butler would have noticed it. We’ll need to sign a tidy ball player though to replace him.

    Scales
    Beestin “if he signs”
    Shrimpton
    Clunan

Add another to those possible four already here and we’ll be ok. Moving away from Butterfield it’s great news Barrows has signed on again. Clearly loves the club and always did say he was a better all around RB than Ogle. Barrows doesn’t have the acceleration of Ogle, but his delivery is better and is a better attacking option than Ogle. Barrows is a better passer of the ball as well.

Not quite Ferrite. Minimum wage is £11.44 an hour so multiply that by 8 you get £91.52 x 7 = £640. Multiply £640 x 2 £1280, then add on 15% as his terms were reduced 65% and not 50%, meaning he was on roughly £1500. I will say roughly because that’s working on the basis of him actually been offered minimum wage but his wife said a fraction over.

So he used to be on £1500-£1700, which at this level, considering his age and the fact he alarmingly slowed down is a big out lay. I think Butler this season will want players who not only can play, but who can also get around the pitch and have that energy needed.

Great going forward last season, but we were too easily to play against at times and we didn’t have that resilience needed.

Harness said the other players talks are going well so let’s hope they sign. I don’t see how Evans fits in though as he’ll be on a fair wedge and I thought Boyce and Kouogun worked better together. I can’t see Denton and Kelly both been at the club, especially as Kelly will be getting paid a good wage and hardly ever played last season.

Not exactly the best way of spreading the money around after it’s been slashed somewhat.

I wouldn’t say he’s at the paper mache stage just yet, but he’s verging on being in the cardboard territory. Beestin showed flashes of the old Beestin, but in between him picking up yet another niggle and good old Dean playing him wide left, we didn’t see it for long enough.

I hope Butler get’s him and all the other players in to shape in pre season. One thing he hinted was that he didn’t think the previous squad was fit enough so fingers crossed he cracks the whip.

We MUST keep Butterfield and Denton

Butterfield I agree with, but he’ll be another year older and he wants to get into coaching. I thought the 2nd half of the season he slowed down considerably.

You have to take into consideration that we have Kelly who will be on a fair wedge still at the club and before we signed him he played a lot of games the season before at the level above.

I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see him go. Another one who drastically dipped off 2nd half of the season. At times he was an accident waiting to happen.
