The Iron will add to their assets in the coming months by providing an additional training pitch for the first team ahead of the 2016-17 season.
Working with our chosen contractors FineTurf, the pitch will be up to Football League standards. It will have vastly improved drainage and irrigation, and will also be fenced off – providing the team with a much improved facility ahead of the new season.
The new provision sees the club continue its investment in the team and training facilities we offer here at Scunthorpe United.
All aspects of the training pitch, including fencing and other resources have the potential to be uprooted in the future and utilised ahead of our move to the new stadium, with the new pitch to be located next to Glanford Park adjacent to the West Stand Car Park.
Work on the new training facility has started already, and it will be ready and available for the players’ return for pre-season training later this summer.
