LumbyThe curse of the transfer committee I’m afraid…we’ve been down this road before. Clueless people choosing to sign players when they had no idea what we actually needed.
That’s what happens when its a monopoly, as far as we know there is no one there challenging the decisions. What football knowledge is in this transfer committee other that that gained from an XBox and a few notes thrown in from the chief scout (Draaaaw Tickets).
The only positive is its their money they are chucking away but unfortunately its our club that’s getting trashed.Championship hopefuls, new stadium really.
You have to get in the box to stand the chance of getting a pen, so unlikely to need a spot kick taker.
I would have some sympathy with Cox who’s been dealt a crap hand.
Pre purchased players
Key players long term injuries
Covid issues. However he has brought in some of his own players although he has not helped himself with his selections, formations and tactics, Where’s the fast flowing attacking football he talked about, perhaps he didn’t realise how crap his squad was when he made the statement.
Oh for the days of Hayes and Hooper, every now and again I watch a little clip I got off here off Hooper banging in the goals. (It was done by Griffiny)
Is it nearly O’Leary time?
Agree he’s pretty good but not quite as good as George yet, not as anecdotal and no train updates.
The refs will be even worse next year in the National League.
I agree with most on here, over the last 40years I have seen both the highs and the lows but where we are now is the lowest of the low which is ironic given we have chairman who came in criticised how the club was been run and promised the earth, new stadium, championship status ect and here we are looking at non league next season. We weren’t such a poorly run club under Wharton and Co were we.
One thing for sure, our front one, two or three (depending on set up, so it’s usually front one) don’t cause anyone any problems-evidenced by the number of goals scored this season. Oh how we need a prolific goal scorer.
Another Hooper would do nicely but that seems light years away.
Penalty was dubious, there player had his back to goal and went down like a ton of bricks. If we could get in pen area maybe our players should start falling over.
I know it’s only highlights but it looked like they cut through us like a hot knife through butter. It wouldn’t suprise if Cox doesn’t just walk, it probably depends on whether he can afford to!
He’s probably just sitting it out to get his pay off anyway, but the longer he is here the more credibility as a manager he will lose.
He was given a basket case to manage.Rather than a boy in a green Jersey a GK is the next priority, Watson must cost at least a goal a game(apart from the 1in50 games he plays a blinder)
The club can’t support itself financially without Swanns support it would be bankrupt –
why’s that?
Seems fairly evident to me, lost circa £2m last year and even with the new low cost model can’t see this year been any better especially with virtually no income through the turn stiles.
Personally I wouldn’t want to see King Prawn walking in the foreseeable. It’s all been said before but it does question the judgement of whoever is selecting and buying these duds, although they may not be duds with appropriate coaching.
Consequently is the coaching questionable, but have any of the recent coaches really been given enough time to sort things out, especially if they didn’t select the players ?
Even though we have a rooky Manager surely there is enough experience in the club (Mussy,Lillis,Wilcox) to do better with what we have than we are doing.
how to go from league 1 playoff contenders to National League Premier League in 3 seasons.
Also having Matt Gilks, Conor Townsend, Murray Wallace, Duane Holmes, Hakeeb Adelakon, Paddy Madden, Neil Bishop and Josh Morris at that time and look what we have now, I don’t think I have seen us have a close season before were I haven’t heard of any of the new players before.
Absolutely agree, never a truer word spoken.
In ten years time NON of the current muppets will be remembered, unlike most of the names listed above.
We have no leaders or any character, it’s unbelievable how steep our downward tragectory has been. The club is in absolute free fall, despite all King Prawns money been pumped into the club its his big aspirations that has contributed to the downfall, I doubt we would have declined as much under the previous chairman. Proof that money isn’t the total answer to achieving success. The club can’t support itself financially without Swanns support it would be bankrupt – even if he wanted out at present it’s doubtful there would be any interest given the current state of football and the quality of the package at the sands.
Best we can hope for is that the masterplan eventually starts to work but that’s unlikely.
I’m afraid we are following the trend set at trinity but at a slightly higher levelAbsolutely shocking.
Players not good enough compounded by another clueless manager.
Even at this early stage really worried we are heading for relegation. We’ve been crap since George stopped doing the summarising.
Story on calender tonight with interviews with Ernie and Staffy of state of finances at club.
Also a similar report on tramere with an interview from Scunny team bus driver!
If it wasn’t for the pandemic and cash shortage I would expect that in normal circumstances Cox would be history by Christmas if this performance continues, however hes probably as safe as houses mainly due to the precarious cash situation.
Exactly, what input is Lillis having ?
Is Cox so sure of himself he isn’t involving others in the strategy, or is he just implementing Ernies instructions, you have to wonder. My initial optimism is all but evaporated, Cox arrived and promised flowing attacking football and he hasn’t delivered, its starting to look like he is short of ideas, already or been badly led by someone, is Wilclot having an influence ?
Its like history is repeating itself, another season of crap football looming, that’s if the season goes to its end or we survive that long.
Disillusioned already !
The MH promo video, probably what the scouting is currently based on followed up by “Draaaw Tickets” going to have a look.
neither has Messi, Cass.
Messi is looking for another club, so who knows 😀
Excellent interview with Ernie, he does seem to be learning from past mistakes although still seems to like to tell everyone it’s his money so he will call the shots, well it is so I suppose he can!
I’m full of optimism for the coming season, just hope we get a few quick wins and get some early momentum.I’m now looking forwards to things starting for real, just need a couple more signings and we should be well set up.
I’m sure it will make a big difference having some passion in the dugout.I think Ernie is starting to listen to what the punters want?
It’s the SET trying to get a scoop to justify their existence, if it doesn’t happen they and Wilson will look right chumps, again.
Agree with WG it’s not difficult to see why Ernie gets annoyed with them.He did say in the podcast he was working in a nursing home so he’s probably working his notice, but it would be nice to get it confirmed.
Wonder where the SET got the info from initially, the fact it was the SET probably says it all, just trying to increase this week’s circulation.
Has there been a formal announcement yet, is he coming or not?
Why did we need two GK coaches, the other players didn’t have onee to one coaching!
More pizza for everyone as well.
If this is true and it is Lillis its fantastic news, I think we are finally going to have some passion and Scunny diehards in the dugout.
I think it shows how this board has some impact of what goes on at the SVS, I’m sure the podcast with Lillis planted the seed. I expect the content of this board including the podcasts are monitored by a Pawn minion.
I am starting to have lots of optimism for September.
