As usual as fans we are left to guess and speculate but I think there’s 3 scenarios possibly going on with Scunthorpe United.

    1. Jimmy Dean may not be a good enough manager to get this team over the line.

    2. Some of the players probably the higher paid, supposedly higher level Hilton signings are coasting as they know there won’t be a big new contract here at the end of the season, promotion or not.

    3. It isn’t that easy to beat the teams in this league with full time, higher level players and we just need to recruit a squad of players proven capable to deal with it.

For point 1 – Up until January despite all the off field dramas we were running away at the top of the league so Dean seemed to have the formula then.

For point 2 – up until January despite all the off field dramas we were running away at the top of the league. And it wasn’t all down to Smith and Roberts, so the players seemed to be capable then.

For point 3 – Part time lads probably living locally to whichever team and playing more to be footballers than money plus a few decent loan signings seems to be a good option to do well in this league.

The club know what is going on.
If it’s point 1, get on replace Dean or come out and say he’s here until the end of the season. Silence leads to problems.
If it’s point 2, come out and tell us the players have downed tools, it might be unprecedented to do that but I’d make it known who isn’t bothered.
If it’s point 3, come out and tell us that Hilton’s fantasy signings aren’t the way to go and we’ll be here next season but with a more suitable squad. And if it isn’t Dean at fault, give him a contract now for next season so any players wanting to stay here know they need to impress him.

That’s my 10 pence worth anyway

What is the right call for the club to make now ?
Could another manager get these players to stay second in the league and have a chance of winning the playoffs or do they write this season off now by leaving things alone and risk losing a lot of revenue between now and the end of the season ?

Are there two videos? Or were you just brought up badly?

    No on both counts.
I’ve just been unfortunate enough to see what actually is a deranged mob and to have experienced direct personal in my face abuse.
Also, I don’t see this quoted post from 64 as personal abuse even though it is meant to aggravate me by questioning my upbringing, just like branding people as clueless morons. I’m just not dropping to that level I’ve read enough from 64 to know what he means and his posts are usually cryptic or obtuse.

Firstly, that video isn’t a deranged mob or directly in anyone’s face.
Secondly, I wouldn’t expect anything else but disrespectfully from what I see you post on here. You do your nastiness and the fans shouting at actual football matches can do theirs. I’ll defend equally the rights of you and them to be able to do it.

I respectfully disagree with you guys on this. You are wanting to have your cake and eat it, and draw your lines where you feel your personal level of being nice to people is.
I am willing to accept someone shouting “you’re a fecking disgrace” after travelling hours and paying for the privilege in the same way I see the piss taking topics and posts ridiculing players and managers.

If you don’t think that players, managers and club officials don’t look on here and read what is said about them you’re kidding yourself.

They don’t have to read it though. It is possible to ignore. They can’t avoid people yelling at them.

I really don’t think that is correct. If it is then anyone would be allowed to post anything on here or other social media and say the person offended shouldn’t have looked.

Most of those particular players on Tuesday are done with this club Siderite, and I think those fans, Dean and the players knew it.

So are you saying it’s acceptable or understandable to behave as those supporters in the clip did? Genuine question.

I’m saying I understand why they felt the need to let those players know how badly they rated there performance and the players want the adulation at other end of the scale when they do well or at least try. If we stop that as unacceptable then the match day atmosphere is finished.

Are you saying it is acceptable to make humorous topics on here mocking the ability of someone trying to do their job ? Genuine question.

So it is ok to take the piss on here ? It’s just a humorous clip, yes I am comparing it to someone shouting at the ground.
What gives the right to anyone to give their opinion on here just for signing up with anonymous usernames ? Maybe it is a right to free speech which is rightly limited by the laws of the land preventing threatening, abusive or insulting stuff particularly regarding racism and discrimination.
A lot of football supporters shout their opinions at players, management and officials, unfortunately if they didn’t there would be zero atmosphere.
The players and management in particular want that atmosphere in their favour so can’t pick and choose when their own performance causes the same people to vent their feelings negatively.
For what it’s worth I have never booed at my team, ever. And I wouldn’t have done at Darlo, if I’d been there, but I understand not everyone has my own personal restraint.
I have shouted directly at one player, once, and on the way home I felt that as badly as he had played I shouldn’t have said it, and I feel guilty about to this day. That was Matt Carmichael playing centre half away at Colchester, and he had a shocker and we lost. I don’t think I even swore but directly shouted that I thought he’d had a garbage game.

I get it now, It would seem you’re taking the chance to have a dig at the iron hour people, particularly Bell. I don’t watch them, I wrote them off totally over their performances with Hilton, and there is too much swearing in their podcasts, I’m late to the party on here but there’s obviously no love lost between you moderators on here and them – probably rightly so.
However don’t lump me or any other posters on here as “a complete and utter mindless moron” for expressing an opinion about annoyed supporters shouting at players after a garbage performance, when it is apparently acceptable for you guys to post stuff like this :

That is online bullying of Dean, and there’s many more similar comments in other topics.

Harsh on Fitzsimons, Ogle, Kouogun, Butterfield; McAlinden and generous to Beestin IMO.

The regular starters need a wake up call and showing that they ain’t indispensable.
There are thousands of young lads who will play for much less than the reputed salaries of our ‘Primadonnas’

I think the big name Hilton fantasy signings have already mentally left. They’re going to be in the last 3 months of their contracts and trying not to get injured before they find new clubs, or already know they have offers elsewhere. We’ve all seen what they can do and they ain’t doing it anymore.

At most Scunthorpe matches I hear abuse of refs and assistants (yes, many have made abysmal decisions but get abuse nonetheless), if there is female ref, assistant or physios they will get the “get your ti** out for the lads “ chant.
I don’t see any specific topics on here about it, so why is shouting abuse at players and managers who have had an abysmal game worthy of any additional comment.
I don’t condone any abuse and wouldn’t engage in it myself, but it is clear a blind eye is turned by pretty much everyone to the usual match day stuff. The club might make a tannoy announcement and that’s it.

Interesting that fans who have spent a lot of money travelling to Darlington twice get criticised for venting their anger at the players, for certainly one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen. But, if the same fans chant abuse at a poor ref, or “get your ti*s out for the lads” at a female official or opposition physio virtually nothing is said or it is dismissed as banter, or they should expect it.
I felt robbed of £9.50 watching it on National League tv in the comfort of my home.

Hiltons plan, now let’s see I’ll bring in a young upcoming manager with a great pedigree in lower leagues achieving promotions, I’ll give give him all the players he wants that will be the envy of every other NLN club, now what was wrong with that plan.

Come on awaywego you know what was wrong. He didn’t have enough money to execute that plan, signed all the said players and Dean (who was actually totally unproven at NLN) on false pretences and then went up in smoke.

Personally, they’ve burnt me out this season and I would prefer to never watch several of the current squad in a Scunthorpe United team again. For me they can recall all the loanees and lose every game then start again next season.

Here’s my team for Bishops Stortford :

    Campbell
    Ogle
    Butler (player manager )
    Barrows
    Kelly
    Poulter
    Robertson
    Pugh
    Shrimpton
    Wilson
    Bennett

    Subs;
    Carver, Beestin, Poulter, DSF

I’ve tried to be as supportive to Dean as possible since the takeover by Michelle Harness and Co, but after last night – he is done.
In my opinion he has lost the dressing room after not being present at the Brackley away game. I can’t see how they can continue with him in charge, whether it’s Butler or someone else they can find to help, someone else needs to be in charge of that team.
And as Awaywego said in the other thread – bin those bad luck Hilton designed Hull/Grimsby/crop top away kits !

The fact is that almost was every NLN game I’ve ever watched. Absolute car crash refereeing decisions, rubbish football. Have you ever wondered why the average attendances in this league are what they are ? If it was any good why go watch EFL or Premier League or pay for Sky Sports ? No point buying a Newcastle season ticket just go down to Blyth Spartans and watch some quality football for £15…..
Going on about Dean and his tactics is a waste of breath. Even if Harness and the board found some money to replace him – and wanted to do it – then they are just Swann version 2 sacking a manager that’s second in the league, and only lost 6 league games whilst dealing with the most horrendous situation the club has ever endured.
I get it that 64 saw something on Deans twitter and doesn’t like him as a person and I get it that CMC maybe knows something about him and has never liked him, so anything less than winning every game in style they are going to take the chance to be critical. But non of that is going to move Dean on.
In regards to this specific game did Dean change his mind and disallow Scales goal after stupidly playing an advantage for a nothing offside ?
And was it Dean that didn’t give us a penalty when Wilson was tripped by one defender, stayed on his feet and was then pushed over by another defender, and then book Wilson for diving ?
Did Dean, in added time which he’d allowed too much of, play a weak pass towards Scales in our own half and allow it to be intercepted ?
Then how did Dean not manage to not catch the cross that followed, or maybe tip it over the bar rather than palm into his own net ?
I think we can pick up the necessary points and I think Tamworth will run out of steam.
If that doesn’t happen and we fail in the playoffs then Dean is gone at the end of his contract, he must know that, so I’ll judge it at the end of the season. Until then you’ll be glad to know I’ll log out and just go to Glanford Park and watch whatever unfolds, unfold.

Tuesday night in February, wind blowing and rain pouring down a scrappy 1-0 win would be fine. Unfortunately some want a stylish 3-0 with the other team barely able to enter our half. If we actually lose tonight there’s going to be dummies spat out and teddies exiting prams.

You talk about me making stuff up TJO, in the 90s Mick Buxton total football era we averaged just over 2500 for a lot of Saturday games and 1500-1600 midweek.

3500 crowds really didn’t happen till the play off pushes.

Yeah, that’s fair enough cmc. I should have known as I was a regular in that 2,500 crowd.

That is probably true. What I’m saying is that Michelle Harness and the board haven’t waved a wand and thrown millions of pounds in, they’re still digging us out and all I can do as a supporter is support.
We’re not in a position to pick and choose the manager or the players yet.
As others have said there’s 3500 who’ll turn up regularly and there always has been.

Based on the football I’ve watched on Tuesday and Saturday I’d never go again.
My reasoning to keep going is to support the club financially and try and support them to get out of this horrible league which Swann and then Hilton have driven us into.
To that end, for this season, Dean and the players have my support. I think we can grind out the results to keep up pressure on Tamworth and worse case we finish second and are in pole position for the playoffs.
Once we get into The National League and club gets out of the embargo and some of the expensive player contracts they are signed up to then I’ll have some expectations and the games should be better.

You’ve gone 30 more than cmc Iron-awe. Only 1716 down on Tuesday so not that bad.
That was a dire match in a season of dire matches.
Wilson looked like Messi in comparison when he came on, actually stringing 2 passes together and trying to go forward.
    Fitz definitely man of match.
