No, whatever happens with the manager, whether I agree or not, I’ll be going and supporting.
I support Michelle Harness for having the courage and strength to take the club on and save it for us and future generations, so whatever she decides is good enough for me.

Gurnelista, I know what you’re saying but I have given Dean unconditional support this season and defended him on here and still said he could turn it around to actually win the league until it was mathematically impossible, then I’ve supported him into this playoff and I really thought we’d have a go at it but we just didn’t.
The fact is if we had fought and challenged our way to second place and gone out on pens, then it would be poor to replace the manager. But, we’ve stumbled along since January, gifted the title to Tamworth then set up to nullify Boston at home in front of an 8,000 crowd. We played 2 hours of football against Boston and couldn’t score a goal.
Dean, in his Humberside interview said losing Smith, Butterfield and Whitehall were reasons for the loss of form in Jan but we had players like Shrimpton, Wilson and Pugh who have done really well loaned out to teams in the same league, we still had Elliott, and when he brought Pugh back he seemed to do well for us then dropped out of favour again. Corbett looked like a good loan signing but he didn’t even make the bench against Boston.
If the board keep Dean I can only see it turning sour if he doesn’t get results.

This season was the chance to go up with Hilton’s fantasy league squad. We haven’t taken it and are now in the boat that Stockport and York were so strap in for a long and difficult ride.

Ollie Turner interviewed him for radio humberside. It’s on their bbc sounds if you’ve can get on that. I can’t seem to post a link to it.

If they do it would be a major mistake on their part. Let him walk away finishing second and going out on penalties. One last line drawn under the whole season.

Personally, I’d be happy with Nelson and it would be some story if he came back and did well after what happened.

I started to type my own post mortem of yesterday but what’s the point, I agree with everything already said. There’s a dozen ways yesterday could have been done better but he didn’t do it. Everyone could see what was wrong from the first announcement of the team.
Obviously we won’t be able to afford several of the players from this years squad going forward but, honestly, it is time for a massive clear out.
I’ve tried to support JD as much as possible but it has to be over here for him now. Thanks Jimmy and good luck in the future.

I’m not worried about our player’s discipline. Whitehalls red was a joke, should have been a yellow for him and the opposing player. I agree with MK about the Scales and Mcalindens reds.
The turning point of the season for me was probably against Tamworth – Evans taking an elbow in the face right in front of the ref, no action and 10 seconds later Denton gets a red for pulling the Tamworth player down.
I reckon our players have learned the hard way this season and will do a professional job in this playoff.

I think Forest were beaten and are clutching at straws in a very vicious way.
Looking at the premier league table, if I was a Luton fan I think Everton v Forest getting a draw would have been my hope to keep both of them in catching distance.
If the Luton supporting var had given 2 penalties from those 3 possibles and it was 2-2 then Forest might have had a reason to cry

The authorities aren’t going to be dictated to by a club over who they do or don’t appoint though, every club will have refs they don’t get on with or blame for losing something or live in a certain area. I get the way it looks but I don’t think the var guy made any wrong calls so it’s sour grapes from Forest.
If I’m wrong (as you know that is quite often) then Atwell will be deeply in the brown stuff and football suffered a fatal blow yesterday.

Forest aren’t too happy with VAR, they’re in for a hammering from the authorities.

    They certainly are.
Even more pathetic and embarrassing statement by them about a ref than the one Scunthorpe put out after the Spennymoor defeat.
All 3 of the penalty shouts they are crying about weren’t given by the ref and at best they were a 50-50 either way subjective call so the var isn’t going to overturn them or ask the ref to review them.
Clattenburg (paid by Forest !) going even further writing newspaper articles about it.
A ton of bricks in fines, point’s deductions or both will now fall on them, Forests owner taking them down in flames unfortunately.

Leave it to the refs, take the wrong decisions against you and moan about them, take the wrong decisions in your favour and cheer. I’d rather that than var any day.

Unfortunately the noises from the likes of Lineker, Shearer (not that I personally care what they say) etc are clearly in favour of the changes. All the premier league clubs voted for it. It needs the majority of premier league fans and probably a fair number from the championship to dissent against the changes as they are the ones with the large social media presence that could force a rethink like when the Super League was proposed.
The EFL and National League clubs can kick off all they like, and I hope they do boycott or whatever extreme it takes, but the FA know the efl clubs need the money and the FA hold the cards.

I think you’re probably right about the billionaires and Super League. Wouldn’t surprise me if this is their new direction where instead of the big clubs leaving they piss everyone else off so they leave.
They are actually destroying themselves through greed, the whole financial fairplay and points deduction is a farce where nobody knows whose going to be on what points and when and even if next year there might be a different system.

I’ve seen statements from Grimsby Town, Tranmere Rovers, Chester City and Marc White the Dorking owner on tv strongly condemning this. Hopefully the rest of the clubs in the leagues come out and condemn this and with a strong enough backlash from fans maybe the decision to scrap replays can be changed.

I think you’re correct Awaywego, there’s nothing in the rules preventing it unless there’s something in the National League Handbook which gets referenced in the rules but I can’t find it online. I reckon they could start selling after Saturday.
I guess the thing is at the moment, as it stands, if Brackley win their last game and we lose at Gloucester and the goal difference is overtaken then we would finish third. Obviously highly unlikely but I can see why the season has to end officially before tickets can be sold.

I think Corbett is at football league speed and effort, which stands out a mile in our league. Even watching league 2 highlights on tv looks faster and better finishing than NLN games.

I read those rules, not an easy read.
It seems to me the National League have set a percentage, they describe as “a levy”, which they will take from the net proceeds of the game after all expenses for both clubs (and including the travel and hotel costs for National League board members and officers who attend the match). The remaining proceeds are split 50% each to the 2 clubs.
I can’t find out what amount the levy is but it was agreed prior to the start of the season.
Should be a good earner for the league if it is (as we hope !) at Scunthorpe.

Football karma with ref decisions, how it always has been at our levels.

It comes down to this now for Star Wars Day: Beat Blyth Spartans at home and Gloucester away and we finish second whatever the other teams do. Then win 2 home games against 2 from this list of : Brackley, Chorley, South Shields, Alfreton, Curzon, Chester or Boston.
If we can’t win these 4 fixtures then we’ll deservedly stay down another season.
I look at our squad and we should do it. Hopefully the players now understand the officiating, shithouse opposition players, negative tactics and just do a pro job on whoever we face.

“I can only remember” really means you just had a look at his stats on transfermarkt, doesn’t it? ;)

It means from what I can remember watching the actual games and discussions with my real life, actual Scunthorpe supporter friends and family at the time or afterwards.
The main discussion being around Clunan and Pugh and that we don’t seem to get good results lately with Clunan but don’t seem to lose with Pugh.

I’ve given up with National League tv. £9.50 a month would be acceptable but for every game it is rip off for what is provided. It was only about £13 for an actual ticket at Southport (I know there’s transport etc etc).
Stuck with radio jumbleside for away games and that commentator, Alex, hasn’t been too bad and seems to be able to actually pronounce players names reasonably. I enjoy hearing Torpeys various versions of Sembie-Ferris, he seems to have settled on Semble-Ferris for the last couple of games. Better when Ollie Turner does the post match interview, he asks some good questions and there’s some tension between him and Dean.

Every game looks the same to me.
Whatever Pugh might appear to be not contributing it feels to me that we don’t lose when he plays. Since January I can only remember South Shields away being a game we lost when Pugh played and he was subbed off halfway through the second half.
