Thought you’d be back once the meltdown fuse was lit by a loss 414. Losing one game on a wet horrible plastic pitch, with our best player – Whitehall – missing, against Scarborough who are actually a good team in this league, is not a disaster. As for the signings we’re only 9 league games in so I’m not going to judge whether the perfect first 11 and formation is known yet.
I think Butler will get us promoted, probably with a couple more players coming in along the way and maybe one or two of the current players getting loaned out as well.
Until then I’m going to keep my head down and enjoy the actual games. See you in May 2025. Up the Iron !
ps, I agree awaywego, that Seadogs YouTube guy is really good.Hilton getting rid of any promising young players already ?
Because that ref isn’t very good at reffing, bottled it and didn’t apply the laws of the game properly. T Wilson, same ref that disallowed Scales perfectly good goal at Blyth and called Spennymoor away match off last season.
Nobody cares Rene, absolutely nobody.
Even Dean wouldn’t want you to keep posting interviews with him.Where would you propose getting a quality striker from Phil ?
My suggestion is Tyrell Sellars-Fleming on loan from Hull.Sadly, awaywego the 14 years of kind, benevolent Tory government has come to an end. If only they could have continued paying you a heating allowance in return for you believing they were actually bothered about you, but alas it is not to be. Never mind you’ve still got Hilton’s signed Ilkeston shirt to remind you of a happier time.
As Phil says, Scarborough won their fa cup replay last night, also scored 5.
A certain Cam Wilson got one of their goals.I think we’ll win on Tuesday night. 90 minutes hard work by the Newcastle players on Saturday and then most of them will be at work doing real jobs on Monday and Tuesday.
I hope we do get a bit of cup run, but I don’t see the changes Butler made on Saturday as disrespect to the cup or Newcastle town, any combination of our squad should have been capable of a win there and it made sense to rest some players for such a game. Glanford Park on Tuesday night they will put it right. If people would rather watch champions league or Man Utd on telly, or think the gate price is too expensive then don’t go, it’s that simple.1 user thanked author for this post.
Their keeper was man of the match.
I couldn’t go today but can go on Tuesday night so looking forward to the replay.I’d give Fin a start and Boyce and Brogan.
Actually, Google “Hilton 1899 club” that gets more directly to stuff you need to read.

Any notes for a Matlock fan. Currently the club is owned by its fans (a season ticket give you a vote/share). The board has called a Emergency General Meeting for 2 Oct to tell us about new investor also tp chan̈ge the club to issues shares, so looks like the board want us to vote to pass the club to our mystery man !!
If it is Hilton, read this :
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jyzDdHxN5t0F6oWHZ7WaYDyAqNKct_0biIZYDPFri3s/mobilebasic
Then Google “Scunthorpe United 1899 club”, then run away from him.
If it’s not Hilton do a lot of homework on who it actually is !Good luck.

A picture paints a thousand words Apollo……
As far as Dean goes, I can’t see him wanting to work for Hilton again. He didn’t achieve want we wanted on the pitch and paid the football price for that but I think Hilton treated him as badly as he treated everyone involved.
That works for me !
And in x years time, someone else will hopefully pay even more money to say it’s it’s something else. Not sure what you’re getting at here Rene ?
Surely the naming rights is a commercial sponsorship arrangement between the sponsor Attis Insurance and the club Scunthorpe United. Unless you know that arrangement specified that the club will change its postal address and all club documentation, and repaint the “Glanford Park opened 1988 etc “ sign over the tunnel then I don’t see any issue with it fundamentally being Glanford Park on a document you have to search for and read.
Why criticise someone at the club who is clearly working very hard with a silly Marcus Cicero quote.
Anyway, Top of the league, Up The Iron !I get what Les is saying but I think we’d be sinking further into NLN style by getting our own Dixon.
I thought their number 17 Dixon should have had three yellow cards but only got one.
If we had him or someone similar they could get into a knock each other off the ball contest with the opposition’s version of Dixon and they’d probably be suspended half the time.I think it’s a dirge, can’t be surprised if someone doesn’t want to sing it.

Too many players had an off day in the same game.
Nicholson in particular had a nightmare, take the point and move on.2 users thanked author for this post.
Shame some knobhead had to set a flare off.

Might see him in the Lincs Cup later on the season.
Wish him well An OK bloke who dealt with the Hilton farce with some dignity.
He was potentially a penalty kick away from him managing us in the National League- fine margins.
Some classless comments on social media regarding his new appointment, despite his flaws he held together a team that was ready to jack it in last year and god knows what else he had to endure under dodgy Dave.
Not quite, he was a penalty kick away from another game that might have seen him managing us again in the National League.
That was an excellent listen. What Michelle and the rest of the board have achieved in 11 months is fantastic. When you think what a deep hole we were in and the circus occurring on an almost daily basis last year, what they are doing is unbelievable beyond anything I expected.
Looking forward to enjoying the rest of the journey.
Thanks guys for producing the podcast, nobody can say we don’t know what is going on.

You’ll ever see EFL football at GP again in your lifetime.
I’m 60 – No.
Have a listen to the latest Iron Bru podcast.
Here’s the clips our highlights won’t show….
Kouogan handball in the box, their coach yelling “it’s not a free kick” to their lad as Clunan measures up his dropped ball, and Kouogan leaving their player free to score.1 user thanked author for this post.
Yes good summary Ben, I agree with what you and awaywego say about Whitehall.
Butler possibly over thought it today with the subs but with Chorley, South Shields and Kidderminster to play in a 6 day period I think he just wanted the best overall fitness for the 3 games. I can’t get to the South Shields game but looking forward to the Kidderminster game on Friday night. You really do put some negative garbage out on here Iron414.
‘some were never happy about Butler being made head coach’
Correct – predicted he would play the ugly, defensive and direct football we are now seeing.
‘Dean getting the shove’
Incorrect – Was indifferent on Dean, though would still have kept him over Butler. As per Michelle the decision was financial.
‘and Butterfield being released’
Correct – was disappointed to lose him but seeing how direct we are he would have been wasted under Butler.
In the 3-5-2 think Ogle is the bigger miss as would have been better suited to the wing back role than any of our current full backs.
Sorry but that really is nonsense.
You could have joined the other 1,379 spectators and watched Butterfield playing 70 minutes for Gateshead last night in their 1-1 draw at Halifax. I’m sure it was a festival of free flowing attacking football.1 user thanked author for this post.
It’s National league North 414. Every game is like last night with the odd moment of skill occasionally allowed to occur. Ive said this before but if it was any good nobody would need to bother with Sky subscriptions they would all go to their nearest non league match.
We need to get promoted out of it and I think we will do it this season but if we don’t I will keep attending matches as will most supporters. Butler and the players know what is expected and I haven’t heard them say anything other than promotion is the aim and expectation this season.7 users thanked author for this post.
Tough league, as we now know. The sort of game that last season we would have blown and conceded an equaliser or lost.
Onwards to play Chorley, who lost at home to Scarborough last night.1 user thanked author for this post.
There’s some Olympic quality moaning. Just watched the highlights on YouTube, 3 great goals. Boyce’s header is way better than it looked from the dre.
