I get what Les is saying but I think we’d be sinking further into NLN style by getting our own Dixon.
I thought their number 17 Dixon should have had three yellow cards but only got one.
If we had him or someone similar they could get into a knock each other off the ball contest with the opposition’s version of Dixon and they’d probably be suspended half the time.

I think it’s a dirge, can’t be surprised if someone doesn’t want to sing it.

Too many players had an off day in the same game.
Nicholson in particular had a nightmare, take the point and move on.

Might see him in the Lincs Cup later on the season.

Wish him well An OK bloke who dealt with the Hilton farce with some dignity.

He was potentially a penalty kick away from him managing us in the National League- fine margins.

Some classless comments on social media regarding his new appointment, despite his flaws he held together a team that was ready to jack it in last year and god knows what else he had to endure under dodgy Dave.

Not quite, he was a penalty kick away from another game that might have seen him managing us again in the National League.

That was an excellent listen. What Michelle and the rest of the board have achieved in 11 months is fantastic. When you think what a deep hole we were in and the circus occurring on an almost daily basis last year, what they are doing is unbelievable beyond anything I expected.
Looking forward to enjoying the rest of the journey.
Thanks guys for producing the podcast, nobody can say we don’t know what is going on.

    Here’s the clips our highlights won’t show….
Kouogan handball in the box, their coach yelling “it’s not a free kick” to their lad as Clunan measures up his dropped ball, and Kouogan leaving their player free to score.

Yes good summary Ben, I agree with what you and awaywego say about Whitehall.
Butler possibly over thought it today with the subs but with Chorley, South Shields and Kidderminster to play in a 6 day period I think he just wanted the best overall fitness for the 3 games. I can’t get to the South Shields game but looking forward to the Kidderminster game on Friday night.

‘some were never happy about Butler being made head coach’

Correct – predicted he would play the ugly, defensive and direct football we are now seeing.

    ‘Dean getting the shove’

Incorrect – Was indifferent on Dean, though would still have kept him over Butler. As per Michelle the decision was financial.

    ‘and Butterfield being released’

Correct – was disappointed to lose him but seeing how direct we are he would have been wasted under Butler.

In the 3-5-2 think Ogle is the bigger miss as would have been better suited to the wing back role than any of our current full backs.

Sorry but that really is nonsense.
You could have joined the other 1,379 spectators and watched Butterfield playing 70 minutes for Gateshead last night in their 1-1 draw at Halifax. I’m sure it was a festival of free flowing attacking football.

It’s National league North 414. Every game is like last night with the odd moment of skill occasionally allowed to occur. Ive said this before but if it was any good nobody would need to bother with Sky subscriptions they would all go to their nearest non league match.
We need to get promoted out of it and I think we will do it this season but if we don’t I will keep attending matches as will most supporters. Butler and the players know what is expected and I haven’t heard them say anything other than promotion is the aim and expectation this season.

Tough league, as we now know. The sort of game that last season we would have blown and conceded an equaliser or lost.
Onwards to play Chorley, who lost at home to Scarborough last night.

There’s some Olympic quality moaning. Just watched the highlights on YouTube, 3 great goals. Boyce’s header is way better than it looked from the dre.

Yes TJO we should have signed Ched Evans when we had chance he didn’t even commit a crime, don’t know what all the fuss was about.

We couldn’t afford him or we probably would !

Turns out he’s a pretty good player so we’ll turn a blind eye like we did with Sparrow. Presumably his ban only counts as a spectator ?
Anyway he’s taken his medicine and is entitled to now get on with his life.

Is there a downer on Whitehall ? He was instrumental in achieving the result, we won’t win this league without him.
He won’t stop playing to get a move, he’s a top professional with skill, ability and pride. Hilton stopped paying (other than a burger and signed Ilkeston shirt) because…….?
When was Toney shite ? I must have missed that game.

Agree with all that’s been said. I thought Barrows had a great game. Nicholson looks like an excellent signing. Denton looked a bit shaky at times. Whitehall didn’t seem happy and after the first half I thought Carlton will walk straight into the team next week but it was a great finish by him and he did well for Fishburns goal. Marine couldn’t cope with the substitutions, we’ve got some great options, Brogan and Rowley both looking good.
Only 2 games in so we should only get better.

Awaywego, I’ve got an idea which explains what you say about the money he put in but any such theory would be libellous toward Hilton.
So I guess we’re left with “Thanks for buying us the time Dave.”

    Maybe not arsenal !
I think Wilson is a good player with a lot of potential who suffered from starting his playing career in 2 of our worse seasons ever.
There was actually some merit in last season’s system of loaning players out in the same league to play against rivals but not us.
    Anyway, good luck Cam.

If the officer just walked into the situation at that point and booted a guy laid on the ground then you’d be right. But he didn’t.
In the circumstances, some of which we’ve now seen, I think Burnham’s comments were exactly what needed to be said. Whilst you can come on a forum and go off half cocked after seeing part of a video with no context whatsoever, Burnham realised there’s more to it than that.
Not sure what field day Tommy Robinson will have he’s not particularly keen on the police himself from what I’ve seen.

I don’t think it’s that simple 64. We can watch it and go reasonable, reasonable, fair enough, reasonable – kick, stamp, – unreasonable. But we haven’t been punched in the head ourselves, or gone through any of what that officer is experiencing at the time. Is he even capable at that point of reason ? Look what happened with Butterfield when a ball got booted in his face from close range last season. All of a sudden he’s squaring up to people and shouting at them, subsequently he has to have 2 weeks off due to effects of concussion.

I’m sorry if you feel that way, I worded it like that because that is what I was doing. I’ve had 2 days to think about it and then been able, after a very nice relaxing Saturday, to have the luxury of watching the longer video several times sat in TJO Towers, actually drinking tea, and considering what happened.
I think the officer probably will be charged and a court will have to decide.
Whether I think it is acceptable or not is irrelevant, I get to sit in my armchair and comment on the news, sipping tea and dunking biscuits, whilst the police officer gets to have 7 bells knocked out of him and then whilst seeing stars and possibly concussed, get to make a split second judgement on the use of reasonable force.

    Like I said, easy.
Have a sip of tea, maybe a beer, have a good think about the rights and wrongs.
Now, take a few punches, be grabbed around your neck, get pulled to the ground add a little bit of fear for your life, a dash of shouting and screaming and then make the same decision in half a second.
As Tyson said “everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

According to Butler on radio Humberside last night, the latest is –

Fitzsimons staying (at least Butler and Fitz haven’t been told otherwise).
Braithwaite, they like him and he’s got another trial game with us at the weekend.
Abraham, is a possibility but he has also has a trial game at Gainsborough.
Hunter, has a trial at an efl club and offer in Ireland so won’t be signing.
Burden, trials at other clubs and Gainsborough, Butler says they are helping him get another club.
Ferguson, enough cover in his position and no place for him since Nicholson signed so won’t be staying.
