people can expect a refund on any purchases if not satisfied,it’s not up to Hilton

I don’t know. If you buy a toaster from Curry’s, then you can probably take it back.
Not sure on something like this. I’d be taking my Torquay ticket back if it was that easy !
You wouldn’t buy a house without a survey or a business without some legal and accounting advice. With this 1899 thing what does it even come under ? A club, a lottery, a 999 year timeshare ? I don’t know.
As I understand it, GP still belongs to Swanns company, Hilton is buying it and has set up the 1899 club to own the stadium once he has separated off the surrounding land in order to sell it, so what has anyone whose paid £1899 actually bought ?
    There’s more questions than answers.

And the only ones causing the division are?

I don’t think anyone is causing division, it’s football – people have opinions whether about management, players, formations, refs or how green the mushy peas are on their pie. The majority seem happy with Mr Hilton buying the club and his recent explanations about what is going to happen, fair enough.
Personally I’m disappointed that the immediate plan is to run it as an NLN club with the entire day to day infrastructure based 70 miles away. I would have preferred it if the owner presented the club as a previously mismanaged League club, which has fallen to this depth but is now planning to get the heck back up as soon as possible, not experimenting with cast off Midlands academy players. But he isn’t and he doesn’t have to, he’s bought it.
I’m sad for youngsters from the area that there won’t be an academy. It isn’t just about producing the next big money sell on, it is a major link between community and club.
I don’t buy the Ilkeston move reasons. I get that Mr Hilton is obviously proud of what’s been done at Ilkeston but honestly I’m not interested in seeing it any more than I am at looking at Nottingham Forest’s or Tottenham’s.
Sorry but from the Nelson radio interview, Dean, bizarre player comings and goings, rumours, twitter abandoned, rumours confirmed, academy closed by internet announcement to the Ilkeston move I have to say I am very worried, and that sir is my opinion.

Very true. Reality – Scunthorpe Utd are to be based in Ilkeston, because that’s a better location.

I’ll give you a conspiracy theory – Hilton can’t afford/doesn’t want to run Scunthorpe above NLN. Buys the club when relegation was probably a foregone conclusion and HMRC etc were circling, he immediately parachutes a non league manager straight in as Nelson was starting to get a tune out of it, sends Whitehead, O’Malley etc out on loan brings players in, then moves them out or they don’t get played again if they appear to be any good. Then once it is finally clear that, barring a mathematical miracle we are actually down, announces everything other than actual match day is being closed or relocated to Ilkeston, which is 70 miles away and where he has already built up a seemingly good football base and also where he presumably lives near.

    That’s a conspiracy theory.

What is presented to us is that short term whilst everything is sorted out, facilities built in Scunthorpe, team rebuilt to return to NL and push for FL, GP purchase finalised and surrounding land sold off the academy will close and training and all day to day stuff will move to Ilkeston because it’s better there. And this will be the case for an unspecified length of time.

    That isn’t a conspiracy theory.

I want, and I mean really want, it all to spin out like Hilton says. But I fear ReneArtois is correct and we are the next MK Dons, well Ilkeston are, we are the next Wimbledon.
The training facilities have supported leagues footballers for years. Improve the drainage, build a new facility on the car park and training pitch. At least identify a site in Scunthorpe first then temporarily move to Ilkeston whilst it is built. I’m afraid he hasn’t got enough money or hasn’t got the will to keep things at Scunthorpe and this is the plan all along. If he’d come in on day 1 and said all this what would everyone have thought ? If the ground deal doesn’t complete where are we ? Renting off Swann or travelling to a ground share at Ilkeston ?
I’m more than happy to come on here in 5 years time, say I’m a miserable cynic and have a profile picture of a clown with egg on his face but I am genuinely worried.

Ilkeston is a better location to attract players ? Why ever move the base back here then …? 70 miles added to Nelson’s commute so an extra 140 miles on the round trip for him. I get the cloth cutting but moving to Ilkeston doesn’t sit well for me. But hey ho, I haven’t bought the club he has. I just hope that ringing alarm bell I keep hearing goes away.

Might as well throw Taft on up front instead of Bennett.

Dean, and the team have had good support at the actual games. To be honest the atmosphere at GP has been fantastic and the away games I’ve been to have had a brilliant following with positive support to the very end. It’s just obvious that this is a level too far. I didn’t expect us to beat Notts (although Dagenham did…) but they completely took us apart and barely worked up a sweat. I just can’t believe they have whimpered out against York and Torquay, they were 2 games to properly go for it and if we lost at least go out fighting. 1 point was no longer enough.

Hi, new here but I often look in to see people’s view on whatever shite we are dealing with. Inspired by “Patrick” showing how easy it is to register, I registered.
WonderGoals post is exactly my thoughts. I was at the Halifax game and was relieved to hear about the takeover, following that I was optimistic that Nelson was the guy to keep us up. The Nelson radio Humberside interview where the Dean bombshell was dropped was a massive alarm bell. I’ve given unconditional support since then (what else can you do mired in the bottom four and saved from financial disaster at the 11th hour ?) despite feeling the whole thing is amateurish. Well, we’re down now, just waiting for the maths to catch up with the reality so I need to say WonderGoals is spot on Dean has to go.
