In summary then after trawling through this and twitter :

    Hilton – “It is Swann”.
Dean – “It was the players”.
    Turnbull – “zzzzzzzz”.

Despite the easiest, actually legal, and least costly option being to just complete on the agreed purchase of GP from Swann, Hilton is going to back out mainly due to the presence of a ransom strip presumably owned by Swann.
Swann has no doubt created such a ransom strip to make sure any purchaser of GP can’t develop it as anything other than a football stadium without remunerating him.
This has annoyed Hilton so much that he is prepared to back out of the GP deal to the point of accepting he will be sued and will attempt to blag keeping the club at GP for as long as possible.
Luckily there is a site in Scunthorpe, which might be ok for a new ground and the council are ok with it. Somehow this will be financed and built within 2 years
(google LNER Stadium York for a reality check). Amidst all this a real good tilt at getting automatic promotion from NLN is being launched.
Something else was also said to allay any rumours about anything else, but nobody can quite elaborate on exactly what that was, some are ok with it, some aren’t.
Have I got the wrong end of the stick ? Because if not, ffs.

Swann has caused the issues but SUFC can still play at GP next season ?

My fear – The GP purchase has fallen through, everything moves to Ilkeston and we play there until the new ground, that he’s bought the land for already, gets planning permission, funds and finally is built. In other words X number of years later. Maybe.

My hope – The dude is minted beyond all belief and wants to build an awesome legacy for his family in the town of Scunthorpe. He’s buying GP as planned, we stay there until a new stadium and training facility is built when he will then develop GP and get some of his money back.
In the meantime all the embargo and other rumours are quashed and a squad capable of winning NLN is being assembled ready for a fantastic season, where we actually win for a change.

Fans forum with 200 tickets, there are apparently 50ish paid up members of 1899 and 1000 season ticket holders, so I can’t see many tickets left at the end for anyone else. It should at least be filmed and put on the club website or YouTube.
Rumours of Hilton not going to buy GP and talk of a transfer embargo, I hope this fans forum puts it all to bed once and for all but I fear it won’t.
To quote Douglas Adams “If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.”

May have to review my giving the benefit of the doubt position. It feels slightly naive to talk about Dean, squads, NLN etc

SUFCofficial and radio humberside sports are my usual visits. Had a fair bit of my own problems this week and haven’t trawled into it enough to realise that had happened. It seemed to go from questioning Hilton with a couple of Nom de Plumes claiming to know him and I when I next looked it was all about payday…
    Crazy and scary times indeed.

You have failed to mention that one of those had a picture of their house sent to them on Twitter by a new account “samfran98959645”, an account which has now been deleted.

Well well, interesting, and proves to me I’m correct that Twitter is The Wild West.
Coming on here is the most peeping out from under my stone that I’m currently prepared to do. I’m not on Twitter and it will keep asking me to sign up if I go too far looking at stuff.
I saw a couple of Hilton sceptics arguing with some new accounts who claimed to recently spoken to him over a pint etc (😬). Check my other posts, I’m firmly in the sceptical camp but as yet there’s smoke and some cryptic “I know something you don’t “ shite, and not much more. I’ve looked down the White/Hilton rabbit hole posted online and, yes, there are some joinable dots but very circumstantial evidentially.

Why would you worry that a some “haters” (whatever/whoever they are) would decide him to chuck it all in ? I’ve not heard any dissent at the matches, people even travelled to Dorking when we were already dead and buried and weeds growing on the grave.
If a few people on Twitter questioning his background are enough to make him give up then being a football club owner probably isn’t for him. From what I’ve seen this week at least a couple of Scunthorpe supporting twitter accounts that got involved have deleted themselves so obviously Twitter isn’t for them.
Spurs fans were chanting for Levy to get out of their club at Liverpool this afternoon and they have a fantastic team, stadium, near the top of the Premier League. I doubt Levy could give a tin shit what they think or be bothered to read their moaning on social media.
Deans planning for next season – good ! So am I, looking up where the feck Curzon, Chorley and Banbury are.

Good luck to Gainsborough tonight in playoff semifinal.Away to Bamber bridge, some old iron names there. Bishop and stamp management team, hornshaw and I think sellars-Fleming is on loan there. Leading goalscorers in their division and a tight defence.Hopefully they will progress and give us a local derby match next season

Trinity lost on pens. Matlock also out, so Bamber Bridge or Warrington will be a destination next season.

If I’m interpreting those Twitter screenshots correctly @RyanJohnson78438 is claiming to have been sat with Mr Hilton four times this season and today Hilton has confirmed spending £1.2m so far to him…?
    Weird to say the least.

    Agreed.
Ref did Shrimpton a favour, he could have had 4 yellows. Wilson has just given up, ridiculous slide for his booking it looked like he was trying for a red card to miss Dorking but got it wrong and only got a yellow.

All players make mistakes. I thought that Solihull clanger was good quick thinking by the Solihull player as much as it was a keeper mistake.
If the players are so flaky that one mistake causes them to collapse in a game then that backs up what some people on here are saying. Players and management giving up after reading negativity on the internet is even more worrying. Social media, forums etc is the Wild West I wouldn’t be looking at it and allowing it to affect me if I was involved in professional sport.

No it isn’t good, which is why I hadn’t got involved with this thread until now, and why I personally keep off social media and only came on here recently.
Notts took us apart unfortunately, and it’s hard to take when you’ve watched us play league football for decades, and believe me we have been extremely poor in the past but I don’t recall any Iron team this bad.
I know people in Grimsby and with the genuine supporters there is a healthy local rivalry not the bile you get on here or Twitter.
I hope Mr Hilton succeeds, and Jimmy Dean comes good next season.

Sorry Patrick but 5 points from safety with 18 games to go was not “you were going down anyway “. We had a good chance of staying up, Nelson had a team at least battling away for each other and picking up results. My view is we didn’t need Dean or the wholesale movement of so many players, but it is only an opinion and people on here have been quite happy with the changes and disagree with the likes of me.
If we were going down anyway why change anything ?
I’ve been at the games supporting Jimmy Dean and his team but they just imploded after Notts County. Losing is one thing but the performances have been dire, they just lay down and give up.
Unlucky losing Chapman to injury but is Billson, who has played about 6 league games ever (most of them for us) better than Foster ? It turns out Dean has only managed at NLN level for half a season and said himself he’s never been involved with a relegation battle at any level. So is it Deans fault ? I don’t think so. Is it Mr Hiltons ? He bought the club he can do, and has done, whatever he likes, change the manager and loads of players – that is fine but on a football forum people are going to discuss their opinions. Even Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U etc fans will be bickering and moaning about what they think is best it, is what fans do.

Enjoyed Carvers square up to Clark near the end, I’d have given him MOTM just for that but unfortunately it was Shrimptons family making the choice. Other than that, utter Dross. Bennett spent more time on the floor than the ball. Bilson wouldn’t get into an U16s with his kicking and the less said about his flap and take out for their pen the better.
Radio Humbs twisted the knife on the drive home by interviewing Liam Rosenior after Dean, talk about chalk and cheese – everything you’d want to hear from a manager with Rosenior.

Interested Bystander – The alarm bell is already ringing for me and with some others but it seems the majority are relieved the club seems to be saved and don’t want to look too deep and are happy to accept what he says. Time will tell.

And like for like with Nelson? your manager of choice,Please bare in mind Nelson had Laverey at his best,

Nelson had to manage against Notts, Chesterfield twice and Woking all at the top of the league. No Lavery against Halifax and Bromley. That team was almost immediately deemed not good enough by the new management and 50% of the players dropped or loaned out. Aside from 2 games, Wrexham and Notts away Deans team have played against similar dross teams to us and not got results.

Have a listen to that interview, he doesn’t have hardly any experience of NLN and not much of the leagues below. It’s a bigger leap than if Adkins had gone straight to a premier league side. Adkins had also had a career of being a league player, manager at Bangor, working alongside decent managers and coaches when he was physio and had coaching qualifications.

This isn’t actually Dean’s fault. Hilton gambled on appointing him and he had to take the opportunity. Apologies if this podcast has been linked before but it is an interview with Dean in August 2022. He comes across as an honest guy who is very realistic about football at non league level and managing to get a team the size of Peterborough Sports promoted to NLN.
By his own admission he was looking at survival being a success this season for Sports, and mid table being a good success. He admits that he didn’t know National League North level enough yet. Half a season later he’s Scunthorpe United manager in the league above that. I won’t criticise him any more, in my opinion he needed to finish the season at Peterborough and then move to a bigger NLN or NLS club and get some more experience. Far too many players have been changed too far into the season for any chance of being a team, you can see they don’t know enough about each other on the pitch. He’s been thrown into a situation and it isn’t working out and that is Hilton’s mistake not Deans.
Link to the podcast, sorry again if it’s old news I’m not trawling 3 months of Bru to check !

I’m glad that day to day football activity will not be at Ilkeston. I hope that some sort of academy will continue, it certainly sounds like Mr H is prepared to try and facilitate it. I still don’t fully get what is going on, it all seems to be on the hoof but hopefully the situation with Glanford Park will be resolved by the end of May.
