But Butler reckons Boyce heard something pop. Conflicting accounts.

Anyway, what’s Butler doing, being all articulate and happy in his interview? He should know by now he has a stereotype to fit.

I think Butler said it was Clunan who felt something go pop, could be wrong but I thought he was referring to Clunan coming off in the interview I heard on RH.

    Exactly Siderite.
Also, Roberts and Whitehall are the racehorses in this team. Any other position you can reasonably quickly get loanees in, so he’s got to be a bit careful with those two.

I think the fact he left Whitehall on against Farsley, (he was on for a hatrick and why not let him try for it and go for top goalscorer as well), and he then picks up an injury and has to be subbed probably influenced the decision making against Brackley and Shields.
I think Butler probably would agree with your point Awaywego.

He took Whitehall off on 75 minutes against Farsley at 4-0 up.

9 points, and let’s face it we will probably beat Brackley, draw with Shields and lose to Market. will only keep us at pace with Kidderminster who are 4 points ahead and a game in hand which they will win.

Stan will play three different line ups with out any forethought or planning

A week is a long time in football. Beat Brackley, beat Shields and 6 points so far, same starting line up both games.
Whatever we might think about substitutions the manager has to consider game time for the whole squad, injuries, fitness issues, playing loanees and getting the whole circus successfully to the end of the season. If Butler had left Roberts and Whitehall on and there was an injury or they weren’t fully at the races in the next game he’d be criticised.
Horrendous as that Rushall defeat was, I think it was the best kick up the arse this team could have got. None of the teams in this league are just going to roll over against us however big we might think we still are, and hopefully now they’ll treat Needham with enough respect to get a result and make it 9 points from the destiny defining week.
And Kiddie are bottling it !

Presumably we can recall Shrimpton and Brogan as required and both will have been playing regularly which is at least good squad management.

It’s an easy issue to bring up but it wasn’t too many subs that caused Boyce to f*** up and gift them the first and it was just switching off that let them in for the second, I’m just glad we have won the last two games and we’ve seen 10 goals, great entertainment.

I don’t know if anyone else saw it but it looked like Boycey threw up on the pitch just before the match kicked off, I wonder if he was ill and hence subbed at half time. Blackett certainly couldn’t believe his luck with that header…

I don’t know, what are the murmurings ?
I’m not in the know and no one stood near me in the DRE murmured anything except when Beck and Evans came on.

Sounds like a storm in a teacup. I had zero interest in Maw after his video performances in worship of Hilton and insults to anyone questioning where Hilton was taking the football club. If he wants to start some sort of new group then fine, go ahead, I am not interested in joining it or taking part in any of its fundraising activities.
I am quite sure it’s existence will be of no consequence to The Iron Trust, an organisation without which Glanford Park would doubtless have already been bulldozed.

Your opinion is not fact,no matter how hard you try make it so

I listed 5 things I’m reasonably confident are facts.
I’ve given my opinion, it can only ever be that – a personal opinion or belief, I can’t make it a fact and I’m not trying to.

That’s hilarious coming from you 64.

Ok, let’s stick to facts then :

    1. Ross Barrows has ruptured his ACL.
    2. The pitch has been ruined by a substandard renovation and is covered with sand.
    3. There is a lot of that sand in the area where Ross was injured.
    4. He wasn’t tackled by another player, in fact there was no one near him, but he started to turn as he ran and dropped to the ground.
    5. This a forum on the internet supposedly for people interested in or maybe even supporters of Scunthorpe United Football Club to exchange views and opinions relating to said football club.

My opinion, drawn from those facts led me to answer Yes to Ironawes question as to whether the “dodgy pitch was to blame”.
If anyone wishes to post a different opinion then I will respect that.
I was stood in the Donny Road end, saw it happen and knew straight away it was bad from the way I saw him drop to the ground.

All the best to Ross Barrows, it is a serious injury but from what I have seen and heard from him he has the character to come back from such an injury.

Howe finished his goal against York really well. Also flicked one over his shoulder and a defender then turned and volleyed just wide.
    Well done Trinity.

I’ve just seen Mr Maws video on YouTube.
Not being on X or Facebook this whole Ellis/Maw debacle has thankfully largely passed me by but I am a member of the trust and am very concerned that the good work they do and have done could be undermined by what has happened.
If I understand correctly, Matt Ellis posted something on X which was offensive to Stuart Maw. A public apology was demanded by Maw and he subsequently put on youtube that he had received a personal email apology but that wasn’t good enough.
Since then Maws Unity group has come into existence and he appears to be using it to turn his personal feelings about an X post into something that the Trust should be responsible for. I’m sure the Trust will deal properly with any issues to do with their board members and are rightly not getting dragged into doing anything hasty just because Maw wants it.

I don’t doubt Maw has raised a lot of money for SUFC and Michelle Harness has personally praised this on a number of occasions. However he would do well to remember his own comments about supporters during the Hilton period when I recall a number of horrible comments on YouTube including referring to those raising concerns about Hilton as parasites, on one occasion that I was shown. I can’t recall him publicly apologising for that so I would suggest he calms down and at the very least looks up the word Unity in a dictionary.

A very enjoyable game to end the year. As others have said excellent first half then professional, keep them at arm’s length, second half.
Pleased for Andy Butler to end the year on a good performance, result and top of the league.
Best wishes to Ross Barrows, looked like he did his knee on one of the very sandy areas of the pitch which looks worse than the grass verge I parked on along Gunness Straight.

It isn’t good enough. Just listened to their managers post match interview, taking the away point and clean sheet but disappointed not to win, pointing out Fitzsimons man of the match award.
Talked about being part time – says 2 of their players have been out working for Amazon delivering presents and they won’t train again as a team between now and 4th of January.

I haven’t seen any AB prematch from the club yet. They only just put the Marine “highlights” on Youtube last night.
There is a Hereford preview from Mark Beck but it’s the usual North Korean style questions

The world has gone mad but Butler only has himself to blame for this. We have all listened to a lot of post match interviews from a lot of different managers at different levels from non league to World cups and I can’t remember one as bad as Butlers on Saturday.

Outside noise ? Well at least it’s official that we aren’t all in it together.
I don’t know who writes the match reports on the ows (presumably James Moody), but there isn’t any outside noise. There is zero interest in us from anywhere outside the club. The non league paper print a little match report with info from some source and Radio Humberside are doing their job reporting what they see and asking the questions they think need asking.
There is no meaningful local newspaper anymore.
Any “noise” is coming from people who support Scunthorpe United via the various forms of social media and some vocal dissent from the stands. The approach from the club is creating an us and them feel which really isn’t good. I’ve never known such petulant interviews from a manager, it is embarrassing to listen to – and this is a guy who Ive supported and really thought would be good.

414, for whatever reason the current team under Butler are not doing as well as expected. Ultimately if he fails or when whatever losses or league position triggers the clubs get out clause, then he will probably lose his job. It’s football, Butler knows how it works you don’t need to be personally insulting to a man who played over 100 games for our club in a much better period and in all other respects is held in high esteem by most supporters of Scunthorpe United.

So you’re saying the players aren’t good enough to adapt to playing different formations (as any player always should be) and some are playing out their top dollar contracts but you also think Butler / Schofield are the problem? All bases covered there. There’s a desperation to aportion blame for this terrible form and performances but I doubt anyone really knows how to fix it. But that doesn’t stop the supposed certainty of many claims.

One of the main problems why this has got to the stage it has is poor communication. Between the club and the supporters and Butler and the supporters.

The club clearly stated before this season that the aim was promotion and they thought we had the squad to do it. People bought season tickets on the back of this and are fully behind supporting the team to win the league. Promotion from this league is winning it, there’s no point talking about the playoffs as that is a lottery which currently more than half the teams in the league could feasibly end up in the playoff final and have a chance.
The club also got rid of Dean and appointed Butler and he said quite clearly that he understood the remit was promotion, we were going to be the fittest team in the league etc. Then suddenly Turnbull is sacked with a terse statement to inform us, we’ve got no idea what that was really about.
Nobody is under any illusion, after last season, that this league is shite and we’re going to see some horrible games and even lose some but with some half decent players and supposedly full time supreme fitness, I think we all expected to watch the team have a good crack at winning every game and be good enough defensively to prevent most other teams from scoring. Instead we’re either watching dozens of missed chances followed by horrendous defensive mistakes or squaring up for 98 minutes of head tennis with teams like Alfreton.

I don’t think he’d do it, but he’d be fine by me.
What the idea of it proves, is that we can see that someone with a basic knowledge of football and an ability to deal with players could organise that squad to beat part time pit village and works teams at home.
