Les is right. The big problem this season, as it was last season when teams figured us out, is the inability to control the midfield. What we should have done was pursue a midfielder who could do this in the summer. I don’t think keeping Butterfield would have made much difference in this regard. Sure, his passing ability to create more chances, but he wasn’t flawless. The struggles we have seen lately would not be solved with a magic Butterfield bullet.

I don’t like the idea of focussing on the league and not the cup. Wins build confidence, momentum and belief, including the fans for the latter. Losses can deflate. We won’t win every game, but we should be trying our best to do that.

Yes. When you’re top of the league and unbeaten there shouldn’t be mad panic. It may have been a blip which could have been worked through, and some on here were already on the wagon of doom and gloom before a ball was kicked this season. However, when the worrying signs continue for too long a period, and it has now, there can be serious concerns raised. The midfield looks to be easily dominated, the passing is atrocious and there is no outlet. I am less and less convinced by Beestin the centre forward after each game and Nicholson has deteriorated massively.

Aye. Maybe Hezbollah should have thought of that if they are going to involve themselves in a war and maybe the fault is on them for bringing it to Lebanon with their own actions they decided upon. If they want to attack Israel, I find it silly to bemoan that Israel are targeting their aggressors and not just doing nothing, while accepting Israeli civilians should just be prey to Hezbollah missiles.

If Hezbollah didn’t want to involve themselves in military attacks then they shouldn’t have started launching missiles from Oct 8th onwards. It’s the height of ridiculousness that after months of launching missiles that they feign innocence after a response.

With Lebanon being a fragile state, it’s probably an idea for one faction to not launch missile after missile at another nation and cry “bully” when there’s a response?

Netanyahu may want to prolong the war to save his own skin, but I am struggling to get worked up about an attack against militants who are part of the problem.

You’re assuming it’s not a front for secret services (Mossad, CIA). The NYT is claiming it was likely such. Which is what secret services do. People might find it messy, but what’s the alternative? Let Hezbollah continue to kill Israelis? If a group targets a nation as these terror groups, no other nation would not resort to such infiltration strategies, yet it’s evil when Israel do it.

Military operations inside Lebanon to target Hezbollah would draw ire, since it would involve a high number of civilian casualties. Now discriminate attacks targeting pagers belonging to Hezbollah members is bad because, by and large, terrorists get maimed or front groups* have to face consequences. Never mind that all this is caused by Hezbollah firing missiles willy nilly, that inconvenience can be ignored.

*And if not, why would they be selling to prohibited terrorist groups and proxies of Iran, who want to spread their version of Islamism across the Middle East?

The people injured and killed are, by and large, Hezbollah. I am sorry that hurt Islamists who want to attack others upsets you so much.

If Israel launch a military operation in response to missiles, it’s evil. If they launch a discriminate attack with minimal other casualties, it’s evil. If Israel do anything other than accept civilians should be at risk of missiles, it’s evil. Meanwhile ‘the people who just want peace’ expect nothing of Hezbollah or Hamas. The ‘anti-racists’ don’t think Arabs have agency.

Not sure if that’s fully brain fog, but him chiming in with the latest hysteria from the ‘people with economic concerns’. The racist drivel being spread about Haitians in Ohio is embarrassing and dangerous. All based off someone who spread rumours while admitting they have no knowledge of a supposed pet eating event. Now we have KKK leaflets going round for mass deportations of ‘filth’ and events cancelled at the local university because of threats of shooting Haitians. Social media has been rife with idiots sharing someone not white barbecuing lamb or something and them claiming it’s someone’s pet dog. There is an element here who are trying to whip up racist hate, but will moan of disunity when others call out those stoking it.

I could if I could be bothered. I don’t see the need to, because I don’t see the need to continuously ram it down, because I am not insecure.

You speak as if you have any authority, but don’t even point out whatever is wrong with my reasoning. Yet what I say, I can back up. For example, you state that the ancient belief was that the Earth was flat, yet Pythagoras and Aristotle spoke of a spherical Earth (so debunking your claim that before the Bible the world was thought of as flat or resting on animals by those with scientific inquiry). You speak of blood being the life force, which contradicts other beliefs apparently. Yet if you read other cultures from before the Bible there’s no great difference in what the Bible says and what Hippocrates said. And the ancient Egyptians thought of it as a ‘life giving force gifted to them from the gods’. So your alleged belief that the Bible brought anything new on this is just not true. The Church favoured bleeding based on what Hippocrates and Galen had suggested, so the premise you have made is false.

There are other things I could say, like how the Bible spoke of stars as objects that could fall to Earth, so the idea that it is a literal science book is erroneous. The Bible gives no greater knowledge in science beyond that of the time, which isn’t surprising. In all the examples given, the Bible doesn’t explain why (e.g. why flowing water may be more hygienic – since there was no knowledge of germs) and it doesn’t give the complete picture.

None of this means that I don’t think that religion can’t have benefits for a believer. It just means I find it silly to treat it literally. The scientists I know of who believe in the Christian God would see it as a metaphorical script, but they would not be true Christians according to you.

It’s amazing that bleeding was a common health trend among Christian societies for centuries after Christ then. Also, this is a hugely reductive statement. Oxygen and water are also important components for life. The ancients knew that blood was important. The Greeks thought blood was important for carrying life force and vitality and observed that blood loss led to death. It’s why blood was seen as a part of the ‘four humours’ theory of the time. The non-Christian Roman, Galen, believed blood supplied nutrition across the body. Neither Galen, the Greeks or the Bible fully understood the purpose of blood in supplying nutrients and oxygen across the body.

There’s also the inaccurate statement of pi, the geological impossibility of a global flood, the non-existence of a firmament, the claims that Earth formed before the Sun, claims of the Moon as a light and talk of a six day creation time. None of which is backed by science.

A singularity does not mean nothing. There is no consensus on what was there before the Big Bang, but most think all matter in our universe was confined to an incredibly small space. What it was is unknown, but there are many different ideas, and nothing to do with matter appearing from nothing.

I would say the hope is that he doesn’t do anything untoward after his exploits here to rebuild his reputation.

One of the many blusters. Even if he doesn’t try anything too untoward at Matlock, I’d expect a lot of bluster that doesn’t totally fit reality.

As Deerey has said, the important thing is to stick together and not turn on each other, whatever happens. If things do go awry he’ll likely start finger wagging at others (usually fans who have questioned him in some way) to deflect and divide.

If I remember correctly, the land on Glebe Rd never changed owners, so another fib from the poor, beleaguered owner who only left because he had hurt feelings from having to face criticism over being a spiv.

If you want to know what the ‘shite’ he had to deal with, it was because of the Company’s House record which shows a multitude of failed businesses, attacking fans who dare to question him, creating division in the fanbase by scapegoating to distract from himself, calling fans s******s, playing stupid games over ground ownership, making ridiculous excuses for why nothing succeeds (from the ransom strip at Glanford Park, which miraculously got sorted within a month by our new owners, to he doesn’t want to pay staff because he has hurt feelings), making statements and deleting them the next day, using a local coke head as an unofficial spokesman on Facebook, countless CCJs from his time as owner and not paying those before, threats of limits of ground capacity because he wasn’t paying the stewards, ponzi schemes that the club have had to accommodate since he left. There’s probably more, but there was so much idiocy. Including some stuff I am not going into on here.

The morale among club staff was terrible under him, and he was not well liked. As, except for the deluded, have said he is toxic and should be avoided. He may well be using Matlock as a reputation builder, but with his character it can only end in tears. Nothing is ever his fault, but that of everyone else, there’s always a scapegoat who he demonises and attacks. It was the same here and with Bury. When it came out that he was a crook he made every excuse and tried to wriggle out of it, placing blame at the journalists who dared to investigate him, while pouring a sob story. A man who takes no accountability, which is one to be avoided.

People have shared some excellent voices, like McGuire and Slater, but I would also add Jordan Zakarin and the person who is behind the Interested Bystander account on here. Though, the latter no longer posts and, while I have a strong suspicion as to who he is on twitter, I am not comfortable sharing without permission. Asking some on twitter would probably lead you to him, as he did a lot of work exposing the fraud.

A short summary from me is that he is the most toxic, disgusting man to ever associate himself with our club.
