He’s the face of the club… in these interviews he’s coming out to speak to the fans… yet he decides that he’s had enough of tough questioning from OT and he thinks the best option is to act like an absolute idiot!!
He’s let the board down tonight, this interview was an embarrassment!!!
What’s clear to most people is that Andy Butler is NOT a football manager… I’m hoping that by the time the people in charge catch up it’s not too late and we still have a promotion chance

Still at risk of a 6th or 7th place position should future results of games in hand pan out not in our favour and we now sit 5 points off the top with Curzon having a game in hand and the potential to go 8 points ahead!!
Andy Butler has been a car crash appointment!!!!!!!!!!!!

The board need to show some ruthlessness and put relationships aside… yes Butler has given a lot to the club but he’s not cut out for football management.
We’ve learnt nothing from last season, still no width and no plan B… I actually think we’ve gone backwards.
Today Alfreton looked like a pub side, all carrying a bit of weight and all absolutely blowing after an hour yet they still looked quicker and sharper than us… that’s scary!!
No need for 5 at the back!
It offers zero width and has proven to be a football killer.Let’s get back to basics, 4 at the back, 2 CM and 2 wingers with 2 up top who are actually playing in and around the box waiting for balls to be played into them.
There have been very few examples of getting the ball down and playing this season, however, when we have done it teams can not cope with us.
The standard in this league is absolutely awful, we should be 10-15 points clear!!
The fact we’ve been so bad for so long and we are still top 3 tells you everything about the standard.
Butler out!!
An experienced manager for the level and above in… Askey!!8 users thanked author for this post.
He’s definitely good enough, playing him LCB isn’t helping him… much more effective RCB or in the hideous system as the main CB.
He is possibly the best passer of a ball (especially long switching balls) in the squadPossibly the best season ever!
What a squad… Grants goal at Wembley is my favourite ever!
I was at Wembley for both games and the win against Millwall was special.
Simply incredible!!
Let’s hope these days return
Iron stats shared the form (all comps) from the last 14 games.
3 wins 5 draws 6 defeats
Put that into points (I know they are not all league games!!) and it’s 14 points from a possible 42.We are only 12 points above the drop zone – even I thought this post was madness but 14 points from the next 42 available and we would be in trouble
Michelle’s 3rd and 4th mistake…
(3) Not seeing what’s clear to most people in that Butlers got zero tactical ability
(4) Allowing Butler more of the budget to go and wasteEnough is enough, stop this nonsense before the Ill feeling starts to be aimed towards the board

You’re spot on!
He has to go… but sadly he won’t

Russ was on the FA Cup match of the day show tonight… how brilliant is that!! What an awesome match and a fantastic achievement to go into the next round!
I’m so pleased for Russ and the club.
Really hope they cause a gigantic upset1 user thanked author for this post.
Great result and much better performance tonight
HOWEVER…… this is the perfect example of how awful a lot of the PART TIME & AMATEUR teams are at the level and why so many of us are fed up of the defensive/crap tactical approach employed all too often.
The reality is that this is not a difficult league!!
Especially when you’ve got this squad/facilities/fans etc…
A good manger will prove that… hopefully that’s Butler. One thing we’ll all agree on… if tonight starts a run that puts us clear at the top everyone will be happy because we all want the same thing even if our opinions on Butler/Tactics etc… differ
Go get promotion boys!!

Pretty sure 99% of fans think Michelle has worked wonders and we will always be grateful.
It’s time Andy really repaid her faith and took us on an unstoppable run of form mixing up the tactics and going after 3 points and goals every match.
This league isn’t as difficult as we are making it look, we didn’t drop down and then severally cut the budget playing the youth team or going part time!!
The squad was heavily invested in and every club in the division looks to what with have with envy and admiration!!5 users thanked author for this post.
Butlers post match interview with humberside once again went with him stating he won’t throw away what they’ve worked on and change things!
If he does see the light and change it… and, it works then I’m 100% with him but it’s looking unlikely and if he continues down this path then long term he will be his own undoing!!
Final thoughts, if we switch and go 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 then we’ve got a different problem which is the squad!!
We have laws and Roberts as natural wingers other than that NOTHING!!
Maybe Carlton but let’s be honest he’s been an absolute liability so far.So if he is to change this formation we need to bring in players… namely wingers/forwards
PS
Rodwell = Achieved what? Success where?
For me he’s NOT welcome here!!Chuffed for Russ and all the former iron players

Scored after 2 minutes tonight in the FA cup replay at Boston… maybe he could do a job for us
I’m expecting a win for Chester based on current form, however as much as I hate this system away from home and against the better teams it has yielded some positive results so maybe we escape with a draw
*Clunan is a weak link
*The midfield is one of the major weak linksThe other obvious weak links are full backs trying their best to be wing backs, wingers being played centrally leaving us nothing out wide when we attack and the best striker in the league (DW) having to drop deep/deliver hold up play rather than being in the box ready to pounce
1 user thanked author for this post.
Clunan is a great shout cliffys right peg, offers absolutely nothing and makes the midfield lightweight… how he’s first on the team sheet is a mystery!
What spoilt the game was 3(actually 5), 5 (actually 3), 2 (actual zero)!!!

We are boring and predictable.
Watching football at GP is painful.
Let’s not forget our players train full time and are professional most the opposition are not!
The league position isn’t telling the real story and I’d be astonished if we are top 3 come Christmas.
Butlers interview was a worry… essentially he’s got zero interest in changing the formation and style of play.3 users thanked author for this post.
Crazy decision!!!
Surely a win… even if it’s another unconvincing performance.
The perfect game to take pressure off Butler but in all honesty anything other than a big and convincing win isn’t good enough.1 user thanked author for this post.
Were we really mauling teams… I think we were playing much the same way we just created and took more chances and somehow kept a couple of clean sheets.
The team is similar to last season minus a couple of the better players and the ones added are a downgrade.
New manager who was a part of the failed management team from last year.
A different way of playing, 5-3-2 but still one dimensional and predictable.
No width – only a couple of wingers left in the squad who are being put into a 10 or false 9 or make shift striker.
One right back, love the fact he’s one of our own but I don’t think he’s good enough and he’s got zero competition.
Midfield is weak and needs a Ball winner who breaks up play, stops the opposition but then gets us forwards.
We are still winning plenty of corners but they feel pointless… do we work on them?
Add in the long throws!
We are supposed to be fitter… not seeing it!
We are set up to build from a clean sheet and I understand the philosophy of that but it’s removed our attacking intent.
We still create chances, we always will because we’ve still got good players for the level who are training full time and playing mostly part time semi pro players!
I too want to see wingers and strikers, Carlton scored tons from the wing last year so get him on the wing when he’s fit enough.
Danny needs help up front, he’s working harder than ever but he’s not in the area where he’s at his best enough, his hold up play is great but that takes him away from his fox in the box position too often.
I could go on.
Yes we are top but we’ve looked unconvincing mostly this season.
Hope we get it figured out and the football is (A) Enjoyable and (B) Delivering the points needed to get us back into the league above and beyond.
Rant over.2 users thanked author for this post.
I’m going for a Scarborough win, the way we are playing (results aside) we are due a defeat.
3 vs 1 with Cam Wilson on the score sheetWe’ve played 2 teams who sit bottom and third from bottom and Brackley who are 8th from bottom and we’ve looked very average at best… I think that’s why some are concerned and not getting carried away.
Maybe not a tactical mess but we are massively unconvincing so far.
This formation is offering no attacking threat.
I’m struggling to see what the patterns of play are supposed to be and we keep smashing the ball long out of desperation.
There’s less side ways and backwards vs Jimmy Dean which I am massively thankful of but we don’t have a killer edge!
I’m over the moon we’ve played 3 and won 3 but I want to watch us be entertaining, dominant and a force that teams can’t live with and we are miles away from that.
Let’s see what Saturday bringsAnother difficult watch!
First half felt totally long ball and not a lot of ideas of how to outplay a really poor opponent, second half was better but without the penalty we come away 0 vs 0 at best because we were never scoring from open play.
We now have one of the biggest teams in the league and an expert long throw specialist and 3 CB’s starting every game…. Yet we are still bang average at set pieces (especially corners) when we should be deadly!!
However, it is 9 points from 9 and top of the league with no goals conceded… all this and we’ve not even played that well yet… I’m hoping whatever this formation and way of playing is kicks in soon and we go on an unstoppable run playing ‘really great attacking football’ because that’s the bit that’s missing.I’d take Whitehall over Beestin every single day of the week, if people honestly think that Beestin played brilliantly Saturday then more fool them… he contributed far less than Whitehall did (over the full 90) yet he’s getting a chunk of undeserved praise!!!
I couldn’t award many players more than a 6 out of 10 on Saturday… not trying to be negative but the performance for 60 minutes was absolutely awful.
Rowley in for Clunan and Brogan in for Roberts for me, But I’d ideally go 4-4-2 and switch it up a bit more.
At least we’ve got plenty of options!! -
