We needed two additions in several weeks ago.
Whether it would have changed things I’m not sure. And if we were at the same point as now then it would have definitely highlighted more where the problem lies.
If only AB gave a different formation a shot several weeks ago too when things started going awry.
Lots of ifs.

We played a bit better than last week first half, but without looking truly threatening. Every time Buxton came forward they did, because they could pass and brought forwards together in tandem. As soon as they got a hold of it in the second it was only them winning it.
I cannot defend the team or Butler any more. They’re not good enough. Weak in midfield, weak forwards and the defence is becoming error prone now, and we still persist with this back 5. Carlton wasn’t special, but was the only forward causing them problems, and we looked even worse when he came off.
I cannot defend the team or Butler.
Didn’t take long. I’m sure majority thinking the same.Glad I was away.
Think Tommy Graham would have done a job for us.

Now not 100% sure but, I went to a Scunny football summer training.
I was with Joe Neenan and possibly a very young Paul Longden. Hmmm defo Joe.
Alan Clarke manager I think.Remember trying to get back to the car park at Lincoln.
Think it where the fair ground used to be.Anyhow there was lots of scrapping.

What was the story on the Mighty Joe?
Didn’t he have a Harald Schumacher moment in the cup?
As we’ve had a good return on the shirts this season why not an iconic red adidas or will that go against the grain with Kelhme?

I’ll always remember as a kid seeing Mike Lester come to the DRE to celebrate arms aloft after his goal against Leeds.
Somehow think he was stood atop of the wall.
Steve Baines aka Magnum
Marples chinned a player in front of the Burnley fans when we still had fences up,1st game of a loan spell.
Pepper was sent of from a stretcher after breaking his leg and punching the guy who did it
If I remember rightly the year Marples got sent off we dragged Nigel batch out of the pub at Barnetby he was running in order to play our 1st game of the season away at Gillingham ,he certainly got sent offLOL re Batch.
He’s a winger isn’t he, let’s face facts here. Play 4/3/3 with carlton one side, Roberts the other with Whitehall “if fit” up top. Beestin, brogan with clunan sitting a bit deeper with a proper flat back 4.
Least that would be more simplistic and would suit the players.
What made Butler think Carlton was striker when he played nearly all last season cutting in from the wing ?
The squad he’s assembled is bizarre to say the least.
We have three strikers supposedly. 1 scores
The others I’d have had a better tally than these two put together.
I personally don’t see anything in Fishburn or Carlton to make me think that they will even stumble to 5 goals in a season. But the shop window is very sparse.Whitehall is all we’ve got. He’s a more of a target man too when hes not upto his antics trying to outwit the referee.
Someone nippy to play off Whitehall would be my preference. 442I know people think this is harsh what I’m about to say but Turnbull has been living off his past exploits of signing Sharp, keogh e.t.c years before. Who’s he brought in post Sharp, Keogh who’s been any good ?
All we keep doing is keeping him in the background involved when he’s had a hand in signing absolute dross for previous failed managers. Sorry it’s just not good enough.
This fascination with keeping people because “they’re part of the furniture & bleed claret and blue has to stop”. I’d much rather have somebody here in an advisory role when it comes to signings who knows this level particularly and what it takes to get out of it.
All the times we’ve tried this it’s worked with Adkins, no more.
I totally get where you’re coming from. But I’m pretty sure Lee Turnbull’s role involves a bit more than sitting in a corner chewing a Scotch egg that’s gone beyond it’s best before, and occasionally getting a text from a scout and signing a player.
Perhaps so, but how many clubs at NLN level do you think have a ‘Lee Turnbull’ in place commanding a hefty salary, as well as a CEO and a full management staff?
Think a part-time / ad-hoc recruitment chap would be able to do a better job on the scouting, but having said that, Stevie Wonder could have done a better scouting job in the summer.
LOL
No they don’t look good enough you’re right lesgeo.
It’s anybody’s league as it’s shown. We had a fast start but faded away.
Other teams took a while to get going but are now finding their feet.
We look the opposite at present and shows we are not in anyway superior to a team in the bottom three or the top 3.It’s a pile up at the top. Even 11th spot Alfreton if they win their two games in hand are level on points with us albeit GD.
Whom will take the initiative and start to place a marker down like the Iron did in the early stages because at the moment we have ran out of fuel and freewheeling.

North Ferriby United as they were called before they were dissolved.
That was when we had the steel fence up, I reckon it was York, though I may be mistaken. Good times back then
Yep York it was.
Another one never to shirk a challenge Glen Humphries had twins Ronnie & Reggie.
Played with him and flopper at NFU.
Was thinking about Andy Stephenson a while back.
A bit of his bite wouldn’t go amiss in this team.
Can’t remember who we were playing when he got sent off to them walk behind the goal at the away end and goad the travelling supporters. Priceless1 user thanked author for this post.
Rob Jones, lol. Forgot about him!
How much did we squander on him?
Butler just on Humberside confirming he has the final say on recruitment and doesn’t sign players he doesn’t want.
Admitted the squad needs expanding but only with players that are ready for the first team. Seemed to discount loanees certainly young ones.
It’s a month too late so far on signings needed so they need to get their finger out.
As for LT when was the last gem he unearthed?
Rob Jones :o)I’m sure he does a grand job for the club in other areas though.
So is that the magnitude of our passing skills then?
An easy ball to a player behind or sideways with acres of space is just that.
Or a lump up for a lottery.A forward ball to a player with 5 yards of space we can’t execute.
I beg to differ it’s only Moors that cause us to sideways and pass back.
Won’t be there fortunately. Oh sorry unfortunately. No fortunately.
If anyone is bored have a count of how many non forward passes we make.
So sideways and backwards.I watched one of our defenders t’other night in 2nd half, had full endeavour at half way line to stride forward with the ball.
Got 5 yards or so about turn and ball went backwards 20 yards.
Not just defenders though is it.Professionals! Pffff.
Awful performance and from the games I have managed to take in we are no better than the majority in the league.
The league is anyone’s!

Wtf was that? Over 90 minutes of my life I ain’t getting back! Sorry, but that was plain awful. UTFI!!
That’s exactly what my Mrs stated as I put her through that too.
Assist or no assist it’s pathetic performance.

Don’t bother tuning in
We surely aren’t any better than most teams in this league by a long shot.
Blatantly obvious Saturday and so too tonight.1 user thanked author for this post.
This team needs additions we won’t win the league with this 11.

Footy food has to address its biggest single challenge. You have two fairly short windows to serve 90% of your product. From about 14:30 until just before kick off then again at half time with about 5 minutes either side.
During these times you want your staff passing out food and drinks, taking payment and moving on. Maybe having one adding food options (peas, gravy, onions etc.) and maybe another pouring drinks.
Cooking stuff and messing about with multi options is bad news for vendors and punters alike.
Menu for hot food should be no more than 5 or 6 and only things that can be batch prepared and ready to rock for the 2 peaks. No expensive catering equipment needed to keep things warm and edible for 30 minutes. Soft drinks and beer in plastic bottles. The club are surely missing out on an earner not selling beer while they can.
The few times I have had decent footy food it invariably follows these principles and the vast majority of times has been done in partnership with businesses that know how to do event food.
Staff!! That’s one of the largest challenge. Whom wants to give up a few hours on a Saturday afternoon to serve?
Kids will do it but generally they aren’t interested.Pie and peas is enough. Bollocks to the gravy the pies should have enough in to when the whistle.
Get the basics right first.
Anyway all this chatter on food. When has the fare been of good standard at GP?
As I don’t eat there I wouldn’t know but just here the moaning tbh it’s been a long long time since I’ve heard ‘Ey up the pies are excellent’ if ever so it’s not just happened this last 12 months!!It’s got to be easy prep and tasty for match day.
Chips need decent supervision on the fryers unless they are oven chips which M&S do nice ones BTW.Surely a AA pie tasting evening with vendors showing their wares. Then a casting vote for the favoured pie. With the winners to do a themed pie of the month.
If all else fails get a serving hatch opened up and order of deliveroo or whatever they call it.
Order what you want. How much is a pie at a ground now? Never had one so not got a foggiest.
I know many restaurants have struggled with staffing for sometime now.
And generally when eating out it’s quite a big disappointment when you sit there for 30 mins for a drinks order to be taken. Then another 20 for menus to come or food order to be taken or having on numerous occasions ask for something. Then to be told we don’t have this that on the menu.
So it’s not just at the AA.Young folk need a strong supervision but to try and get the quality on a Saturday afternoon for 2 hours is obviously difficult.
Not making excuses for anyone as my standards are high and that’s exactly why I don’t bother eating at the ground.
Like I stated a poll on what folk actually want to eat at the match would be a good start rather than the complaining this and that is crap.
More pressing matters on the field in my opinion for us to worry about what garbage I’m filling the engine.
1 user thanked author for this post.
I’m sure many ongoing chats regarding food at AA are ongoing.
Good friend of mine is having a chat.Let’s see.
Heard someone state this burger ain’t great on Saturday for then the next breath ‘Glad the foot longs are of the menu as there’s too much bread!
Funny old world we live.Club should do a questionnaire/poll to see what the fans actually would like at the match.
Always think a cracking meat pie is the best foundation with a bovril.Tbh I never eat in any ground as I can manage without eating for 105 minutes bar an odd humbug.

New CEO to take the load off I guess.
They’ve done a great job in such a short time and sure it’s taken its toll with or without criticism. Which is for sure not needed.
When is the CEO taking some of the strain?
