Wondering if /what the sell on is? In one of those Swann interviews he says there was a ‘very healthy’ sell on for Mcatee but then a lot of people suggesting on twitter there isn’t one so I don’t know.

500k would be a good deal though, let’s face it he played a big part in getting us up and only has this year left on his deal so will walk away for nothing in the summer if he stays.

I know Swann’s been full of shite for the most part but he said he hoped it would go through before the season starts. All those things you mention Deerey have been sorted already. Well that was the impression I got the other day.

People may think I’m nuts for believing Swann on this but his ego has took a big hit and I’m telling you now, without a shadow of a doubt he wants out.

The people who have agreed a fee for the club would have gone through thos details already I would have thought. Been in discussions for months and rejected to bids due to not covering wages in with the fee so they will know “whoever they are” know exactly what they’re buying.

Swann has been full of it for the most part but I do really think deep down he wants out. No way his ego will keep him here, he knows he fucked up and knows people see him for what he is, A somewhat dodgy failure.

‘it’s not easy’ that’s all he says about everything – the fans, the flats, the road, the players

My favourite quote was ‘don’t you dare put me in the mould of Fenty’ and then he went on to say he’s put 20mil in (which I don’t know if is true)
Seems a shame if he has and you haven’t anything to show for it in regards to the infrastructure of the club, apart from ‘chip van’ he started to go on about – is it any good?

    Hopefully the takeover goes through

He might change his mind like he did about who is responsible for sacking the manager if results don’t go well.

Yeah he did say that, but judging by that interview they will be attending every game then.

He kept go on and on how you ‘top out’ at 4000 fans as well.

Well no probably not, I would love to see someone take over and the gates shoot up (like it has without Fenty and his negativity, saying ‘well we have a ceiling and we have to live within our means’)

He didn’t once say thank you to the fans in that interview, and literally our lady CEO who is lovely is saying that to the fans and staff all the time – it’s surprising how far it goes.

He seems to love the flats though, but I didn’t understand his maths ;it was pretty scrambled like the whole interview.

Knowing our recent luck it’ll be Fenty.

he would spend twenty years trying to build you a new stadium and then when realise he can’t cut it and ask for his benign loans to be repaid so he ends up making some cash over his tenure…. There are so many similaritys between Fenty and Swann but that interview made me think Swann is on a different level. I think the most obvious thing in common between them two is they were/are /never will be actual fans of the clubs, I hope you get taken over and the new custodians are actually fans of Scunthorpe Utd.

GP is a future building site, wake up and smell the coffee people.

He’s worse than Fenty I reckon at least he was consistent during the course of that interview he must have contradicted himself 10 times and it ended up a rambling at the fans and telling everyone how he put 20mil in and doesn’t want it back (although you can tell he is pretty bitter about it) said that you have a budget to challenge but then said you don’t have the attendances to challenge? Then went on a rant about why would anyone want to buy the club when all the chairman gets is grief ; but is trying to sell the club :the guy is more of a head tuck than the worst girlfriend when you are eighteen, it’s just mad.

Think ours were £22,always thought your season tickets were a bargain ours have always been about £100 dearer whatever league the two clubs have been in.

How do you know that Staines??

There’s realistically 6/7/8 clubs now in the national league bigger (on paper) with bigger fan bases etc… than a lot of clubs in league 2 so what would the football league lose??

The thing is attendances now to an extent don’t really matter now do they, people just think clubs are big on their history :reality is clubs like Salford, Forest Green, Crawley, Harrogate and Solihull are bigger because they can throw loads of money at it last season we lost out on a player from Solihull because they offered more.

Whether this trend will continue and bankrolled clubs punch higher than they really should be will determine if more old school so called big clubs go out the league or some sort of semblance of normality returns I imagine.

For us, you, Oldham, Notts County and Southend there is no doubt all were/are basket cases that fell out the league because of the mess they were/are in.

Not just signings. 5 men who can compete, it’s a battle every week I didn’t think league 2 was under physical when we went down, but the NL is a different level big mincers all over for most teams

If you need to stream any i used cricfree last season it randomly seemed dead good for the national league games and there wasn’t any glitches /buffering.

You will get used to it with the NL games move all over time and date wise it’s a pain in the arse if you need to book trains etc, they even left it to a few weeks before to confirm where the play off final would be if Tinpot is apt for anything it’s the administrators of the NL

Money sent – need to actually make sure I do it, always seem to forget /stop doing these sort of things half way through the season hence being bottom of my fantasy football league last season

Think home games against the weaker teams will be massive for you, hopefully the fixtures don’t put you up against a load of the better teams first up as it might destroy confidence (especially if you still have mainly kids playing) just don’t expect many big away followings from the smaller southern teams

Yeah it’s a tough one to predict tbf and loads of results you don’t expect.

What’s the prediction every game every week?

There is some good away days though in the NL i live down south so got to loads down here Eastleigh, Woking and Aldershot enjoyable
Weymouth was my personal favourite because they let you drink a pint by the side of the pitch but they went down so you won’t get that one

Mkeown is decent but lightweight for a keeper, bad at crosses and commanding his area but a great shot stopper and leader not sure hes what you need if you don’t have a big /physical defence

Hopefully you get new owners who are actually fans of the club like we have.

We watched our club decay for 20 years and if his masterplan for the next few years had come to fruition we would have been gone, probably starting a phoenix club.

Theres always hope and when (hopefully soon Swann relinquishes control, you will get some people in who love the club and not just use it as a play thing)

When this happens the fans will return no doubts.

Boreham Wood did well and had a great cup run, Dagenham very close to a play off spot and Wealdstone and Maidenhead held there own – I was more trying to make the point that lower attendances and lower budgets don’t always necessarily mean its an excuse to not do well /sign decent players which I fear for you Swann is using it as

For context a baseline average of 2500 would put you 10th in last seasons NL attendance table above the likes of Halifax, Bromley and Dagenham who were all more than competitive.

I listened to the Swann interview on here it seemed more of a threat to the fans that the only way you would be able to compete was if you average 3k…… Pretty lame really when you have teams with 1k attendances doing very well in the NL.

As for Shaun – he would do a good job no doubts :reliable, solid and physical all the things you need in that league better than Boyce no doubts

Maybe you could try and take Shaun Pearson on loan,he will be 6th choice cb for us but is more than good enough for NL him and Boyce would be a solid CB pairing. Whitehouse is a decent player to if you are in for him

Joe Bunney looked OK when we had him, some health problems though i believe so hopefully had put that behind him would be decent at NL level i think very tall for a left back but not overly physical

Hope he sells the club soon hand on heart although rivals I think most town fans would be sad to see utd go to the wall but if he doesn’t sell soon you could be in for a real difficult season with kids in that league is a recipe for disaster, I saw Boyce for Eastleigh last season quite a few times as live down near there still fairly solid but you need 5 or 6 players of that type at least to be able to compete even for lower to mid table realistically.Hopefully you don’t get Wrexham Notts etc first up because they are big strong sides and could really hit confidence

Going to watch the game today not sure who want to win. Solihull thrown a lot of money at it a very good side. Maybe if you bring in a few next season you will be okay. Every game is a battle though and having a load of kids playing in this would be a disaster, dover sort of did that and were getting heavily beaten most games.Theres a lot of lumps who lump it
