I would go as far to say that Notts have played the best football out of all teams in league 2 and NL over the last couple of years , a really enjoyable watch as a neutral – it will be interesting to see how they get on with that open attacking style in League 2 (if they maintain that way of playing) .It’s nice to see as most teams play what can be described as ‘industrial ‘ football most of the time at these levels.

Whitehalls a player ,seen him a few times for Eastleigh – definately NL player maybe could even do a job at league 2 level he’s a right nuisance – you would have thought at that level he would be good for 20 a season – you must have pushed the boat out for him wages wise .
Will innocent bystander be there with his Filefax of questions for your primary funder ?
You are getting your wish now mate ,saw your post on twitter .Nice one
Interesting bystander you seem to like research so I will give you some .
This is from a football club in general standpoint out of interest as I cant be bothered to do the research .
With FFP does ‘proof of funds ‘ mean you have the readily available cash to purchase all the assets and pay off creditors as required .
Or COULD it mean you have the required assets /guarantors ,loans and cash all as leverage against a purchase?
On the Scunthorpe Utd front in those podcasts with the lads Swann basically said he would take the money over as long a period of time as the buyer would need so it might actually not be the case that Hilton needs to find 3.4mil in 20 days .
I watch a few NLS games as a good mate supports Havant so I go occasionally , the standard is quite good a lot better than you would expect – some of the players have decent jobs and play part time there and could actually play higher but are better off part time and working ;you would assume it’s similar in the NLN as I can’t imagine there are many full time teams .
Does he live in Leigh Park? Funkiest sink estate I ever worked in.
He lives just off it .
Many moons ago I had the privelage or not , of working for Portsmouth City Council and Leigh Park fell within our catchment area.Let’s just say they were not jobs we most looked forward to , especially in the van – it’s safe to say the locals were not our biggest fans and we were regularly met with abuse and on a couple of occasions eggs from their inhabitants .
IMO there is not much (if any )difference between the bottom end of league 2 and the top half of the NL , lets face it both don’t go hand in hand with good football ; only a handful of games this season for us has the ball been on the floor most of the game .
I actually found the conference (NL) slightly more enjoyable as we actually gave some teams decent beatings .But in both the leagues teams/players are wildly inconsistent ;which i suppose is the main reason they are at the level .

As an outsider I would not be that harsh , I gave one a listen but it was not for me as I have become a regular of the one the lads on here do , and always enjoyed the interviews which are good as a neutral covering various old school players etc and of course the Swann ones ; i hope they will be back soon .
With the other one you have to give the guys a chance though , they are probably new to it and are doing it in their own time so fair play to them and I am sure many of your fans will enjoy it .

It’s just fans in general though , the difference is now it’s 24/7 with social media so every team is under intense scrutiny however big or small .
It’s bonkers really in a way it was much better when you just turned up on a Saturday had a beer , hot dog and a moan and then went home and forgot about it for a week .
I enjoy looking at it all to , flicking on my phone an hour or two a day at all the bits and pieces, but then think I could have done something more productive in that time, were I am just zoned out .
Crazy world now
Hartlepool may end up the next ones in trouble , sad the way it seems to be the old traditional clubs that are in big trouble , the game has changed .Alan Hardy seems an over interested/defendant of Mr Hilton which seems interesting .
One way or another it’s fairly obvious he has really pi*ssed at least one person off to want to go to all the trouble of creating some sort of detailed dossier.
You would have thought so .
SST was right to take that post down of which some one had gone in to great detail about your chairmans alleged past .
If it’s untrue he should be chasing a libel case against people who have put things around various social media; as it’s some pretty damaging stuff .
If it’s all fact I would be very worried for your club , hopefully not and the purchase goes through .

It might be Wacca who says he supports us and is continually trying to take down the board / lady CEO – seems similiar to a lot of the stuff on here /twitter
He’s not 100% though
I think it’s fair to assume your new primary funder has upset Mr Bystander in some way .
I have not posted for a while as this forum has reverted more to non-football and speculation rather than what it used to be (some good football chat and some funny bits about Swann + I enjoy the podcast ; which seems less frequent now )
Hopefully things get sorted one way or another soon and everyone room to breath for an assault on a league that will not be all that easy to get out of .
FWIW i don’t think a couple of seasons in the NLN would be bad for your club, time to recuperate from the last couple of years , build some foundations and then move forward . It would be good to just start winning games again, when teams go on such a downward spiral it seems hard to turn around .
Good luck next season I will keep my eye on whats happening.

He definitely says it as he sees it in his post match interviews .
Never heard anything like it .
‘9 players were injured today …..apparently ‘
Do not know if he is the manager to get players on side like ‘flogging dead horses ‘ he said .1 user thanked author for this post.
Somebody REALLY does not like your new primary funder .
I don’t think all the hearsay is good for anyone , its being done to death now on here and with the fishies .
Its a bit boring
Lets just wait and see what May brings ,if Mr Hilton can stump up the 3.4Mil i dont think Scunthorpe utd fans will be too fussed about ifs, buts and maybes from his past .

Tbf to our fishy friends there is some good well thought out posts on there ,some asking the same questions as i have on here . Some of them are just taking the p*ss but on the whole dont want the club to go .
We have got good support but we were told by Mr Fenty numerous times ‘4k is our limit ‘ and now we have not got a ground big enough (even though its been quite poor fare at home this season ) for the crowds we are getting .
Swann said the same about you , but who is to say with the right ownership and a little bit of success you cant do the same ?
I thought the lads (Sharp & Elliott ) were the perfect fit much like Stockwood & Pettit for us -lifelong fans who you knew would always know had the supporters and clubs best interests at heart -a shame they did not get it done .
Hopefully Hilton is a good one and rumours etc are false , there is already blurred lines though but hopefully over the next few months things become much more clear for your future (in a good way )

I do fear after looking at his and ‘Patricks’ back story (allegedly) things might not end well.
Its time for you all to mobilise and make sure Elliott and Sharp are still there as a back up if things go south in May .
Lets hope Mr Hilton is true to his word and its not required .
Lincolnshire football needs Scunthorpe Utd ,hell us cods even need you and I cant help have a little soft spot for all our local teams even if i do enjoy it when they are doing badly.

Well i think it was a combination of luck, investment and decent manager /ownership .
We were the 6th best team when we went up but played well in 3 cup finals so that was partly luck for sure .
The budget was about 3mil with the co owners investing 1.5 -that wasnt just playing budget .
Somebody did a spreadsheet i think we had the 4/5th highest budget and that was just to scrape in the play offs wrexham ,Notts ,Chesterfield and Stockport had 4-6mil budgets which seems insane really .
I just dont get how you would go right through with a sustainable model unless you managed to somehow raise a few million quid every year ?1 user thanked author for this post.
Been to The Sloop at Barton today for lunch. Their Steak & Ale Pie is the best I have ever had. If only they could supply Glanford Park. The gravy is to die for too. Magnificent scoff. UTWI
Will have to give that a go ,took my wife to Barton when we first got together the viewpoint of the humber bridge and immingham were my two major selling points of our area ,must have worked -will have to take her back to reminisce and try that food .

Seemed okay all in all .
In summary :
-If you want an academy he wont be funding it
– He will only invest up to a level of sustainability (so doesnt want to put money in after that i am assuming )
If thats the case will Scunthorpd utd fans be happy with what at best will be NL ?No way now you can even get out of the national league without substantial investment .

Does anyone know what Hilton did to make his money ?
Genuine question as no ones asked it yet .
2 users thanked author for this post.
Whether its a good decision for the club is irrelevant really , Swann and Hilton can be put to one side .
From a human perspective its horrible i remember being a kid , I played for an academy side but was not good enough to make it but at least had the opportunity until 17-18 to realise i probably wouldnt make it and didnt really have the desire or ability to play at a decent level so packed it in .
But from that earlier age 7,8,10,12 to be told you wont be able to continue with what for most of them is probably their hometowm club doesnt sit right with me , to be dealt such a blow so early on when you should just be enjoying it is sad .
I just hope local clubs us ,Bottesford ,North Ferriby ,Clee town ,Barton,Hull etc step up and at least give these lads an opportunity to train with them maybe a trial or training so they at least get the chance to be fixed up with something and can continue to enjoy the game .
The same with all the staff that get let go they will have fsmilies to support so will be a difficult time, and the job market is particularly easy at the minute hopefully they all get fixed up quickly .
Its terrible that with all the turmoil it has now even affected the future generations of the club and peoples day to day lives .

He has the ability to go higher but i suspect if he doesnt improve his attitude/consistency he wont go higher than league 1 .
He was too good for the National though tbf .Suprised how that Lansgstaff has bagged so many making the step up ,some achievment that tbf

Wonder if McAtee helps Luton get promoted next season then goes on the bus tour round Luton singing ” who the f*** are Grimsby”?
Ha ha he wont be doing that mate ,they might have already gone up -he wouldnt touch their first team , i have seen them play a few times got 4 strikers who are better than him and Cameron Jerome whos useful still he might be 6th choice at best ,cant see it though -maybe Lincoln or a Manchester based club on loan potentially Salford as thats where he is from and they will pay .
He has fallen relatively out of favour with Hurst now ,doesnt play every week
He may have thought the club was closing down he left early January before the take over, any illegal approaches made for him by the cods Richgy? After all cods are slippery creatures.
I am sure that doesnt go on at any level (not)
In reality if he was a potential superstar he would have been snapped up by a prem/champ academy , the hope will be he’s a half decent prospect who could come on and hopefully be a decent player , as with any young player though the odds are stacked against him .We had another couple of good ones over the last few seasons -Grist who signed for Leicester and Pollock who signed for Watford both who we managed to get fees for but only played for the first team briefly -anyone with decent potential is hoovered up quickly ; i suppose the key is getting the ones that arent too good but quite good who you can at least kerp for a minimal amount of time and get a fee for .
With your chairmans ‘idea’ i sort of get it but do not understand how prime released academy players would drop so far dowm ,the good ones can surely get deals higher up -wait and see i guess .
On another note -John Mcatee is now out of favour with the fans and Fishy i dont think they like it he’s getting a bit of a sulk on sometimes ,will be interesting when he goes to Luton to see what happens as he has not shone in league 2 .I can see him being back on loan at a league 2 club next season (not us )

Just turned 16. Makes Hilton’s decision to do away with the academy look better if we can’t hold onto the under 16s.
Might be that he knew you was closing yours though and thats the only reason he left -suppose a 2 year contract at 16 is a decent amount of time to see if he can make the grade . People saying we are in for another one on the fishies (not sure how reliable ) – that we are in for Shrimpton ,is he any good ?
Yeah I wasnt sure of the level ,but he must have played at least one academy game as he bagged a treble against us in November ,left you in January and signed for us a few weeks ago .
Like you say time will tell its very rare these kids break through ,so to some extent i get what Hilton says about the academy.
But on the flip side we have Clifton who has become a superb player and could move for 1mil+ in the summer with quite a few big clubs interested .

, AwaywegoIts gone under the radar this one we have given him 2 years .
