This what is happening at Scunthorpe & Southend just should not be allowed to happen to clubs , I think everyone can agree on that – It’s just not right is it ?
Even the situation with Swann should not have been allowed to happen – there needs to be better legislation and financial guarantees from owners that just does not allow for clubs to end up in such a mess .
The governing bodies in general really needs to do better , I would almost blame them as much for the situations at all the clubs that end up on their arses as it should be so much better governed .

Looks good , I need a bit of horseradish on my beef though .
Is that mash aswell ?
The wife always says I’m mad when i ask for mash and roast potatoes on a Sunday lunch .

‘Promise of assistance ‘ from the council over the new stadium .
Did they ever even know about it ?
The trouble for Hilton is the more he talk, the more his dishonesty shines through .
He’s calling people out on a relatively incoherent post , who legally he will in all probability be obligated to pay .
At least it’s crystal clear :
He’s not paying Swann ,Taft, the other guy and probably whoever else he thinks he should not .I worry for the fans who are going to have to pick up the pieces from all of this .
I hope the club survives

I would hope it does not come to a phoenix club .
Surely putting Hilton & Swann to one side, there is enough goodwill from supporters , the new board members and local organisations + the local authority that the club survives in it’s current format ; I don’t see what good it would be for anyone to just start again .
I think the most worrying aspect for me would be has Hilton made the debts/problems worse in his current tenure therefore making it more difficut to run the club in a way that it can repay debts and run sustainably to get back on an even footing . 4k crowds show the support is there even at nln level.

There is more spotlight on Scunthorpe ,than Ilkeston – an established league club v (no disrespect to them ) one that would not get as much scrutiny both from the press and fans alike .
It’s astounding he thought his past would not come out , surely if he had honest intentions the best thing would have been to be truthful from the start .
The proceeding 9 months just makes you question ‘can a leopard really change it’s spots?’ at least from anyone with either a neutral or balanced perspective.

….. I don’t think he will be , he was promised 3 million quid and in all probability won’t get anywhere near that for the ground – Hilton’s not going to pay is he + Swann is already missing out on the rental income he was promised by your current owner for GP .

I listened to the interview and read the article .
In truth the article was much of what I have read on here but was either supported or refuted by different sets of people.
I suppose the article backs up what had been panned as rumours by many now as clear facts , although nothing that was written particularly suprised me as I’m sure it didn’t many .
As for the Hilton interview – he did evoke some emotion from me and even a slight sympathy up until the character assasination of Matt Slater (who is a very goos investigative journalist IMO) and blaming of all and sundry barring himself in the end ; he can’t seem to help himself can he ?
There would have been 3 questions that are more pressing that still need answering –
Did he lie through the process of the ‘fit & proper’ person’s test ?
If so does that make his ownership valid ?
After shafting one council ,does he expect another local authority to stump up a significant amount of funding for the new stadium ?
If he does not get the stadium (or at least the right to play there ) will he walk away ?As for George Taft , he is getting abused for demanding what the club are contractually obliged to pay him – I find it bizarre fans are abusing him for that (however bad he was as a player).
Worrying times hopefully things work out and there is more clarity to the situation in the near future .

Yeah it’s really good . I went to Havant V Yeovil on Monday was a cracking game .
I enjoy going down to the NLS games , it seems to be taken a lot less seriously and is more a family sort of club who don’t mind if they lose so much . The advantage of having a beer by the pitch is useful.
I don’t know if it’s similiar in NLN , I know you don’t want to be down there but at least you will win lots of games and enjoy the grounds .
In a way I prefer it tbh lower down .
Portsmouths my local team – Eisner cleared their debts and is running them at quite close to break even on the playing side (hence them not walking right through league 1) the investment is going into the ground and infrastructure – it’s really improved Fratton Park with top facilities ; still an old school ground with a modern twist which i think I prefer over the new builds . I think the plan is to add capacity , as they are getting 19k every game – i think it only holds 20 now .

It seems likely that you get kicked out of GP , it’s just when .
Does Hilton think he can bluff the council and secure other funding towards a new stadium , with the threat of the club becoming extinct as his leverage ?
Will be a tall order to raise 30 million quid upwards in double quick time .
But whether you are a Hilton detractor or supporter , it can’t be denied it would be a masterstroke if he can pull it off .
August 19, 2023 at 7:14 am in reply to: 09/08/23 – County Court Judgement – £1,547.00 – Case No. K5AA1W08 #269812Sounds like you dominated Darlington , I caught bits on Humberside. At least they are still providing a decent amount of coverage for you .
Your team on paper at least , looks far too good for NLN – I think it would be quite competetive at NL level – I suppose the test will come when the pitches become messy in the winter , I will be interested to know what they are like at the level come the winter – are many 4g in that league ?
Quite a lot in NLS are and stay decent .
August 18, 2023 at 9:27 pm in reply to: 09/08/23 – County Court Judgement – £1,547.00 – Case No. K5AA1W08 #269790Great start to the season for you results wise , fair play .
This is another strange twist , like many others .
I have seen the recruitment of some really good people onto your board , which must bring hope – some intelligent imdividuals there , and you would have thought they would not have got involved without certain assurances about the clubs future surely
1.5k seems a relatively small amount of capital for the club not to pay , obviously like others have said it means a lot to a small business so hopefully it gets resolved .
Hopefully the stadium ownership is resolved soon to – is there any update on court proceedings for that ?

As much as I don’t really have an opinion on Hilton , he does come over increasingly unhinged on that Facebook group – you could even say a loose cannon .
Good result at Tamworth though for The Iron , will check your result on Saturday – hopefully now the football has started focus is less on the off the field stuff .
Yeah I live away so it’s frustrating when it cuts off right before the kick offs online for league games , I wonder if you can get Humberside radio on DAB outside the area somehow ?
You should be sorted though , enjoy listening to games a shame local BBC sports coverage seems to be getting cost cut a lot.
It seems like you get more games if you are NL or NLN on Humberside because there are no restrictions online (least there wasn’t when we were in NL ) so I think every game was either on the wireless or online on the BBC website .
So you might be able to listen to every game on there.

David Burns certainly wanted to interview Hilton before his forced retirement , everyday he seemed to be inviting him on . Assuming Hilton did not hear the plea ,or did not want to go on The Burns show.
Is there a new podcast coming anytime soon ?
Always a good listen.Great effort by Iron fans to take those numbers fair play .
I imagine you will outnumber a fair few home clubs this season . I might try and go to Boston V Scunthorpe as I still want to go to their ground , hopefully it’s possible to get a ticket somewhere for that one.
I would be interested to know how many NL / NLN teams have youth academies , can’t imagine it’s that many .
If you read between the lines that document on The Fishies was obviously posted by an outsider of ‘us Cods’, an account that’s only ever posted once puts an essay style document on there .
I could speculate as to who that person is , but I suspect they post on here to .

I think most people from a neutral perspective think any sort of personal abuse is wrong , but from a balanced perspective he has given plenty back as seen by the early days on Twitter and most recently Facebook . Their is a difference between personal abuse and genuine questions of concern about the club and at times that has become fuzzy at best.
I think this forum has brought up some good points , obviously you will always get people with agendas both for and against someone but once you put that to one side there are some good points raised and genuine questions of concern.
Good luck for your team next season ,I noticed you have Leroy Lita up top he was some player back in the day .

The only issue with not having an academy is if a ‘big one ‘ comes out of Scunthorpe but has to go to another club because they are not at academy status .
I know we picked up Grayson Giles who had a very good goalscoring record for Scunthorpe and Hull have picked up 3 (I think ) who have good potential , and then the keeper aswell – it’s risk V reward isn’t it but the reality is you are one ‘big one ‘ away from making a massive difference to a club mainly from sell on fees if you bring one through – Kilman is going to make Maidenhead around 8 million quid , the 2 keepers from Carlisle – Trafford and Henderson will make them serious money .
It’s not likely but without academy status virtually impossible to pick up the one’s who will ‘make it ‘ as once they reach a good level with the youth age teams Patricks talking about they will just be picked off by clubs with academies .
According to a couple of parents on Twitter your youth setup is completely closing down as they received an email from the club .
Surely it should be the case that any club/assets can only be sold as a ‘whole package ‘ at the same time .
It seems seperation of tangible assets and the name of the club causes serious problems . Completion of a deal should actually be completion of the whole lot and that’s when change of ownership occurs .
The game is really badly governed .
The proof of funds in general seems ridiculously flawed ,otherwise all these clubs that end up in mess would not be .
I have heard it mentioned by quite a few people that a requirement for new club owners should be to put a % of the funds down on the purchase of clubs , like a deposit which is held in a neutral account much like used in housing rentals / mortgage etc .
Does not sound a bad idea in theory , and would in some scenarios offer clubs a degree of protection .

Did the land for the new ground actually get bought by the club in the end?
Hilton’s paperwork and this article suggest he is willing to pay 10k a month rent for GP.
Yet at the fans forum he’s on record as saying he would pay 20k a month .
Maybe a small detail but a 50% drop seems quite a lot .

Nothing comes for free.If Hilton has not got the capital , I at least hope he’s got a very good plan to secure the future of Scunthorpe Utd away from Glanford Park.
