Need to be talking to some players/agents in January to agree reduced terms for next season. A significant reduction for some should still be attractive in NL/NLN.
Agreed… but how do you sell that one?
The optimal group size for decision making is 7(+/−2) members.
Slightly larger gatherings may be thought to be more representative?
JC had a ‘committee’ of 12 – his being the 13th voice.
Always have an odd number.
Nothing worse than ‘no decision’.
You can only get the begging bowl out so many times.
Scunthorpe has a small population and doesn’t even have the pull of a Leeds United… lest alone a Manchester United.
How do you get businesses to throw money at sponsorship… what returns do they see? We ain’t a high profile club!
Better to flip it on its head and eliminate waste first.
It’s said that Rodwell was on £250k a year when he was there. Wasn’t Mayo on about £150k a year too?
I wonder what Wallace’s annual salary was. £100k?That’s a lot of money for little old Scunthorpe United.
Trim the squad, trim the playing wages, no agents fees, fewer stop overs, less salubrious hotels, less salubrious bus, fewer complimentary tickets, bin the third kit (how many do we sell a year?), online only shop, would we get larger crowds playing Friday night / Sunday lunch times? Less competition.
Wham & SUFC – both No1 at Christmas!

King Leonidas might have said:
“This is where we play them, this is where we fight, this is where they lose!”
1-1
Over optimistic – deadlock at no goals apiece.
Two points lost yesterday?1-1 is the shortest score cast price at 5/1 (Head)
1-3 to the Iron will be my selection at odds of 14/1 (Heart)
Congratulations to Wham on making it to the Christmas No1; 39 years after it was first released!
That’s Andrew & George; not Davide or David or Dave or Rodney or whatever his name was.
Maybe it’ll be a good Christmas after all?
Here’s to a great 2024!
Last Christmas, I gave you…
Rearranged for Tuesday 6th of February.
Third time lucky?
Forecast has the north of the country snowbound then.
The New Show Ground.

12/30 for me (without any hints). Rubbish.
11/30 no hints

For me, next season (24-25) is all about securing a mid table spot in the NL and ensuring that we start 2025-26 in the stated league.
Let’s not chase a quick return to the EFL. We need to be debt free and a self sustaining business before we go chasing promotion to L2.
I’d prefer a few seasons in the NL and the club having no financial hangovers than running up debts chasing a dream too soon.
Same squad will do me for next season.
We need to galvanise a team where the output is greater than the sum of its parts. We need a Wimbledon type mentality in the coming seasons, both on and off the pitch.

It might even be worth paying a ‘lose bonus’… we don’t want any slip ups and a win.
A mid-week home match in the next round would cost money and be a further injury risk hurdle to avoid.
I’ll be very happy with a 0-1 defeat tomorrow evening.A must lose game.
They appear to be the away day draw specialists having drawn five of their ten games on the road.
Great victory.
We’re stretching the chasing pack now!
Ten points clear of the third placed team.
Pedal to the metal – grind them in to the dust over Christmas!
Let’s shake Tamworth off!

250/1 and bigger the rest.Lol, not like he’s got much else to do.
Who does it these days, James?
If the shortest correct score price is 11/2… why are we 7/10 (odds on) to win the game and the game to end in a draw is 13/5 ?
Chorley to win are 3/1Yet, the stats say that the most likely result is a 1-1 draw.
We can’t exceed our FL or EFL record number of goals scored as we aren’t in the EFL.
We won’t exceed our Non League record (133) of goals scored in a season.
We’d need to score 88 goals in the remaining 25 games. The author / editor of the programme should know that and should be more accurate with their narrative.
1938-39 we scored 133 goals from 42 games.
Get down the sides to the line, whip the ball in to a ‘big un’ and a ‘quick un’ in the box.
I like width.
Cutting inside makes the (already) small pitch even smaller and you run in to more ‘traffic’I’ve said for a few years that ultimately football will end up a non contact sport like basketball.
A ‘gap’ would be psychologically massive.
A ‘gap’ beats opponents before you’ve kicked off.Scunthorpe United.
Unity not division.
He is what he is.
We are what we are.
We are where we are.
We are skint.
We are top of the league.
Stick with what we’ve got.
See out his contract – then perhaps have a change?
Give Jimbob a break.
I’d have stuck with Admiral Nelson.
But… that ship sailed.
Support Jimbob… Support SUFC.
UTI.Chorley 3-2 Buxton

Cheeky Chorley sneak up to fourth place.
Lowest number of defeats (4) this season – shared with us.
A player from each side sent off last night.
Both managers booked. Are The Spartans scared to face us?
I thought they feared no one?I’m mixing my rivers up, aren’t I?
It’s the lads from the banks of the River Blyth not the Evrota River.Oh well, let’s have a chuckle at Chorley on the weekend.
We used to send the U18s to these games.
It’s a game we don’t need.
Hopefully we’ll be sensible enough to lose it 1-0.Rearranged for Tuesday 12th December.
Anyone still going?
The game that keeps on giving.
Giving us something to chat about. -
