    Legends game.

I read a few weeks ago that on average, we take about £50k in gate receipts for a game?

Once the seasons finished, how about a Legends fundraiser the week after the concluding league / play off game?

Iron Claret Legends v Iron Blue Legends

12 claret legends and 12 blue legends.
6 legends play the first half for each team and the second set of 6 legends play the second half for each team.

10 fans play for the clarets and 10 fans play for the blues.
The first set of 5 fans play the first half for each team, the second set of 5 fans plays the second half for each team.

    Claret team = 6 legends & 5 fans
    Blue team = 6 legends & 5 fans

For £500, twenty fans get to pull on the claret & blue of Scunthorpe United FC, get changed in the changing rooms with their heroes of yesteryear and to actually play 45 minutes in a game with and against their idols!

    20 x £500 = £10,000
    2,000 (attendance)(a guess) x £15 = £30,000
Program, food, drinks = £20k (guess)
Sponsorship (annual Legends Trophy) = £5k (another guess)

    Total revenue = £65k

If match day staff volunteered their labour, then this minimises the costs and maximises the funds raised.

Just an idea. It might be a load of tosh or it could be a good opportunity?

LT would be a perfect match-day commentator over the PA.

    Legends Shirt Signing

Perhaps held in the Exec Bar a couple of hours before kick off.
A 30 minute to an hour shirt signing session where fans can bring their favourite SUFC shirt and have one, more or all of their heroes playing that day sign their shirt.

    £50 x 100 (a guess) = £5K

20 Legends signatures for £50 = £2.50 per signature. Bargain!

It’s most likely a quality control measure?
The quality of the images from some clubs is poor, others have the camera located in a position which on occasions gives a terrible view or part of the pitch isn’t visible. Other times, there is no commentary or commentary by someone speaking worzelese.
My guess is that they’ll televise the more professional outfits?

    Tuesday the 30th.

Fingers crossed that there’s no Storm Sue or Storm Johnny or even a “Hyperstorm” (Sue & Reeds grandson) battering the AA next Tuesday.

A couple or eleventeen (Worzel) of you may have me down as “Doctor Doom” but don’t be fooled by that “Fas(s)aud”… I’m just an aging “Silver Surfer” who wants us to be “Victorious” in every game.
Come tomorrow, and there are just Four Fantastic days to go until we battle the “Galactus” known as Tamworth.

Jimbob, our “Puppet Master” will be pulling the strings as we start to “Klaw” our way back to the top of the table!

A little of everything in moderation is good for the soul.

Tamworth have being favourites for a while now.

With the points difference, there should be a slightly bigger differential between the two teams.

Still, bookies aren’t known for being charitable organisations lol.

Tom was always an attacking midfielder when he was an academy player he also scored a few goals, as is generally the case (Levi Sutton another) he became defensive cover when injuries force us to use him there.

You’re right. I’ve just seen the highlights of the Hereford vs Kings Lynn game and Pugh looks like he’s playing as an attacking midfielder.

Looked to me to be starting most of their attacking moves and seen him turn and glide past a few players.

Is this the same Tom Pugh that we’ve been criminally using as a limited defensive midfielder ?

Ferrite, watch the highlights. I doubt you’ll believe what your seeing.

    Lovely old school ground.
    2,500 at the game.
    Great strike from Pughy.

I think it was a couple of years ago that I said that if he had a yard or two of extra pace, then he’d be playing at a much higher level.
He’s 23 years old now, no longer a kid.
Time for him to kick on and nail his name to the team sheet as a ‘permanent’ fixture.

Open the bars earlier (any imposed restrictions?) on match-days.

The Licensing Act 2003 was partly to try and eliminate ‘binge drinking’ from our previous ‘stop watch’ drinking culture.

Get them on our premises eating and drinking our food rather than them spending their money in the many other local outlets.

If they are determined to have a ‘good sesh’ then they’ll do so before entering our establishment anyhow.

    Pre-Match Prep:
Friday nights at the Iron Bar. It could feature prize bingo, racing nights, pub quiz, karaoke, Scunny’s Got Talent, local club type bands, young bands whom might want to ‘rehearse’ in front of a live audience, open mics, comedy nights.
The ‘entertainment’ can be rotated weekly and could feature a couple of different events each week?
    I.e.
    bingo & pub quiz
    Open mic & comedy club

Just some thoughts on how we can be more of a community club.

On Saturday, if we lose at PB Sports and Scarborough win at Banbury, then they’ll leapfrog us in to second place.
We’ve 3 games in hand on them but we’d need to convert those to points.

7 days a week business… I’ve heard that touted many times.

    Here’s another idea.

    Young Iron Day Care Nursery.

    Morning 7:30 – 12:30… £35
    Afternoon 13:00 – 18:00… £35
    Short Day 8:30 – 16:30… £50
    Full Day 7:30 – 18:00… £60

Obviously you’d need trained, qualified staff and the equipment and environment to deliver.

You’d not be making, selling or repairing anything, no stock to check & purchase, no wastage to throw out, no shrinkage from shop lifters etc.

Day nurseries are obviously always going to be needed. Demand for places will continue to rise in the coming years.

It’d generate a guaranteed Mon to Friday income stream.

Away NLN games that don’t clash with PL games.

£180 for a commercial premise to show the game.

    Iron Bar holds 200.

    £10 entry = £2,000
    £20 beer (a guess) = £4,000
    £10 food = £2,000

    Income = £8,000

    Iron Bar = 200
    Exec Lounge = 120
    Restaurant = 150

    470 potential.
That could generate £18,800 (using the assumed expenditure above).

Money in to our club rather than the oppositions.
