Back to basics. As many as square pegs in square holes.
    LESS passing sidewards.
    4 4 2
That will be a good start.

1-4-4-2 please. Nige says we mustn’t forget the goalkeeper.

    Got my vote .

We have a very inexperienced set of players we have to give the time. But I do expect them to work hard when out of possession.

Hornshaw is playing as a wingback 0r right back he is neither he is a Centre Mid. But this 3 across the back makes him a wingback and I do see some not getting involved.

No player should leave a job to someone else !

Said it so many times play our way, make opponents deal with us !
Again square pegs in round holes is a recipe for disaster and then 3 5 1 1 compounds it.

The goal not all Hornshaws fault as a lot seem to take delight at having a go at him. When you look at the footage. What was the CB doing then what was the left sided CB doing when the ball came across ?

4 4 2 and if we can’t win then do not lose.

    Did seem to be a 3 2 3 1 1 . 442 needs to be our shape.

Quite pessimistic this season. All the changes of personnel, concentrating more on bringing our own through make me quite reserved would have said 1st but I will go for 3rd !!

Well done. Last pre-season game out of the way. 6 changes from saturday and another formation used.

Sounds as though 90 minute fitness levels still not there but sounds as though a lot of positives.

A cup game – yes. But more of a pre-season fixture that is important for the season start.

Will be several changes as we all agree.

    Thank you for your support!

Not at all Matt. Need to maintain the forums independence – I don’t think many realise what a vital support stream this is.

    Good luck everyone.

All wins are important in normal times. But this isn’t ‘normal’ – need to be ready for the 1st league game. That is when the word UNBEATEN has to be the aim.

But best to them for the next 2 games.

You should get a message saying ‘Predictions saved‘ upon saving the form. You may have to save the League Cup games, then do the EFL Trophy but it should save them all by clicking the one button.

Having checked, I can see your predictions are saved for both rounds of fixtures.

On another note, all players will be entered into a draw to win a copy of Max Bell’s book. Winner announced Saturday…

    2nd prize 2 copies ??

Well scratch that we’ve signed the lad who played against Watford. A German on a 2 year deal so I’m not sure who I saw a picture of?

Another forward though we are starting to look very top heavy

That was the lad who played at Lincoln. Yes he did play at Watford and had trained with us all week.

I see the trialist wasn’t British then. UTI

Certainly isn’t, surname does seem to indicate a link to 2 countries.
Did start to think dual nationality. Certainly a tall pair of strikers.

So Northumbiron seems Smudger confirms what I said ! That he wasn’t British.

I know where Gravesend is. But this player could have dual nationality – neither of them british

Pearce – a reasonable shout but I think we have more urgent needs.

Nice, neat and sharp passing by Watford. Players making runs behind defences and the passes coming through.

That is what we must aim for. Keep it sharp and simple.

Now we have Neil & Mark in charge any future signings HAVE to be their choice within this new salary cap roll-out.

If they are not allowed any say then will the new ‘dom vose’ step forward !

343 352 do not seem to work at SVS.

Basically it is 1 10 – all defend, all create and all will try to score.

We have some good untried players who were never rarely an opportunity by our ex manager, we have some good new pro’s from the U18s.

So I am more than happy to see how we go, I know that we have a management team who know the club that will sort it.

    Well put Brianiron.

Brilliant podcast and I hope we can put the distrust issue behind us now. We actual have a management duo who want the relevant departments to have an input.

If we have an exceptional U18 why shouldn’t they be considered for 1st team action.

    Cautiously optimistic.

you have got to praise Northampton, just shows what having a decent manager and coaching staff make.

    Well put MisteronMick.

Was one of the few who showed that losing hurt, unlike the posers who took the money and did not care. Said before – 4 yrs work invested and then given away.
