Altrincham v York is just as bad. Usually the quality is okay. What’s going on?
Highlights. I think this confirms that Whitley didn’t actually carry the ball out of the box. Anyway, all academic now.
Didn’t notice the water issue. Apparently their artificial pitch is getting replaced at the end of this season. It certainly looks like it needs it, although it didn’t play as badly as it looked.
We just couldn’t cope with Harry Green. He bossed the game.
Half-time; 1-0 to Scarborough (Dom Tear). Good game so far, a bit feisty at times but we look a bit over run.
I’ll go 3-2 Scarborough win. Att 2750.
As for pre-match drinking I know a few Scarborough fans. Their main watering hole is the Valley Bar (it’s a 5 min walk to the ground from there) if you fancy a bit of banter. Or there’s plenty of pubs on Falsgrave within walking distance of the ground.
Hereford are also still unbeaten.
My money is on Kidderminster. They look good value. Can’t see Chester challenging. Scarborough only have a very small squad (they only fielded 4 subs yesterday even though you’re now allowed to make 5 substitutions) and they already have two players out injured, so they’ll probably run out of steam like they did in the second half of last season. I wouldn’t rule Chorley out of a play-off spot. They have a strong squad.
He’ll probably thrive under Greening. I fully expect him to come back to haunt us when we face Scarborough.

“Theatre of Chips”
To be fair I thought Scarborough probably deserved a point. They looked pretty solid defensively. Especially considering their skipper and centre-back was suspended today. Gooda was outstanding. Was expecting more threat from them upfront though, but they didn’t really trouble us. Frank Mulhern spent the whole afternoon falling over or diving on the floor. Embarrassing. Why they didn’t start with Rutledge up front was a mystery as he’s been banging in goals since he signed for them.
Basically the defences dominated the game today.
Not a bad little stadium considering their club was only founded a few years ago but not a patch on their old “stadium of chips”. Really don’t understand why they demolished it and built an inferior stadium.
Btw Who was the clown that let off the flare?
I think Scarborough will do well to hang on to Greening. He’s worked wonders on a shoestring budget. He’s ambitious and Scarborough are surely a springboard for him. I bet his ultimate aim will be the West Brom job (where he holds “legend” status as he was skipper of the 2008 side that won The Championship). A long way off that but he’s made an impressive start to his managerial career.
Apparently he previously applied twice for the Scarborough job and didn’t even get an interview!

They actually keep the donkeys that you ride on the beach in that field. I’m told there were a few hundred on the bank for their sell-out play off Final against Warrington. I suppose it’s an option if you’re desperate to watch the game.

This is definitely one game that should be streamed live! Reckon both clubs would earn a tidy amount if it is.
Don’t forget it’s a 1pm kick off at the request of North Yorkshire police. So getting there on public transport will involve a very early start. At least they’ve got a covered terrace at the away end now, albeit a small one. They’ve just built a very small seated stand at the away end as well but they don’t seem to be selling tickets for that – maybe it’s not quite finished yet. That’s the only chance I can see of getting an extra allocation – if they finish that stand and release tickets for it.
Scarborough will easily sell out the home end no problem. It will be a total sell out. Their new ground, the Flamingoland Stadium, only holds 3,200. Probably one of those games which would have had a crowd of 5,000 if the ground was bigger.

So you’re disgusted by a headline but not by extremists shouting “death to all Jews” and “jihad”?
Clear red for me. He goes in two-footed with excessive force.

Looks like Scarborough are bringing more than I thought. Probably 600 or 700.
What size crowd are we predicting on Monday? I reckon Scarborough will bring about 400, so should be a cracking atmosphere.
