Someone takes notice. Or is it a coincidence we’ve just signed Junior Brown after waiting three months.
Maybe they were in Munich talking to Manuel Neuer?
At this point, what exactly is there to lose ?
In Swanny’s case – money!
You could always take your boots along Deerey. You might get a game!
can we risk another James Perch? (or Ian Ormondroyd for those with a longer memory)
But we could do with a Steve Baines for those with a longer, longer memory!
Of the top of my head, the ten we signed in the transfer window: –
Cordner
Onariase
Spence
Hippolyte
Vincent
Taylor
Loft
Jarvis
Mooney
TuranSo that’s roughly 2x CB. 4x MF. 4x ST. More importantly 0x GK & 0x FB.
Did we need four more midfielders and four more strikers? Surely a broader range of acquisitions would have been more logical?
Only a couple of those signed were over 23 so in effect all we have is a big U23 squad, with little depth of experience.
Can we send back the loans? Let’s face it Cordner’s bottle looks to have gone, Vincent has been fairly ineffective and Taylor is being played too deep.
Did we need Hippolyte when we had Green and Dales here already? Did we need Loft, Jarvis and Turan?
So yes, Brown is a welcome addition, but it’s still just papering over the cracks of a particularly odd transfer window.
and you dont think covid is having any affect on results villa 7 liverpool 2
Eh? Explain please.
How on Earth do you come to that conclusion unless you’re a Liverpool fan?
Bet you think COVID was responsible for Pickford taking out Van Dijk yesterday.
Sorry.
I didn’t understand the title.I think it was aimed at Cambridge fans!
a lot of it is covid related
Signing a bunch of kids who aren’t up to it has sod all to do with COVID-19.
The crap on offer in the last three years had nowt to do with it either.
The depression set in after that Rotherham semi-final.
Agreed, shame Matt had to get rid of the “thanks” button because a few apologists didn’t like it!
I blame the person who designed the swimming pool.
Unless you smack a copper in the mush!
What made me laugh was, cox said Swann was trying up until deadline day to sign experienced players but couldn’t afford the outlay.
May well have if he hadn’t wasted money on inexperienced midfielders and non-scoring forwards.
Then there was the saving on Colclough’s wages.
A pair of Levi’s 501s last longer than £16 jeans from f&f at Tesco!
Mind you, the fashion is for denims with lots of holes in. Rather like our defence!
Cox signed Hippolyte, which begs the question…..has he signed the right player or not?
Mistaken order. Cox asked for a load of hippo shite to put on his garden.
Re: McAttee wasn’t he one of Hurst’s Shrews? Probably told him come to Scunthorpe, show what you can do and you’ll get a move to a bit club.
His commitment seemingly left with Hurst!
The usual hyperbole at the start of the season.
“Exciting young players”, “they’ve been on our radar for a while”, “attacking football”. Neil has my full backing”.
Swann has always talked a good game, but has never backed up his rhetoric.
A lot of similarities with the way the government are handling things. Plenty of catchphrases, and reassuring promises, but in reality to little, too late. Taking no notice of those in the know and not giving a shit about joe public.
Wonder when the next cabinet reshuffle is?
HIPPOLYTE–3–So very poor, one good thing, his red card means he cannot be selected
Don’t get too excited. It’ll just be a one match suspension.
He’ll be back on Saturday!
Get a keeper, get some full backs and get a leader or we’re dead.
We’ve been saying this on here for weeks now.
If us moronic fans can see it why can’t the powers that be? ‘Effin unbelievable.
All the more galling after having spent much of the past six months listening to Bru’s in conversation podcasts featuring ex-players.
To be reminded of what we witnessed as fans over the last twenty five years and comparing it to the absolute dross we’ve had to put up with recently.
We can all draw our own conclusions as to where it all went wrong but it is going badly wrong. Not only that but it’s getting worse by the week.
Major problems require major changes. Maybe this isn’t the time, maybe it is, but something has to be done and quick.
Just waiting for UTI99 to come on and remind us that we WERE playing the top of the league team!
Blimey!
For a minute I thought you meant this afternoon’s game
3-4-3?
That’s a new one!
“Time Ladies & Gentlemen please!”
That’s it, the doors are locked and we’re screwed.
Unless we queue up at the 24hr off license? See what’s on offer that nobody else wants.
One hour to go.
Last orders please!
I think waste of money would be more to the point.
You mean we’re not playing Cambridge AND Cheltenham on the same day?
Phew!
Maybe the thread should be titled “Dictator of Football”?
Most of the pre Swann years were in division 4 playing crap football in front of 1,500 fans
A bit like now then?`
What Lawsy?
New tactics? Winning 4-0?
I thought Russ was in charge of the U23s.
If we are going to talk about relegation, can we please make sure we get the name right? It is the GM Vauxhall Conference!
Wrong!
It’s the Vanarama National League.
