I just hope the player in question wasn’t Alex Gilliead.

    our much superior strike rate.

Wow! I never thought I’d read that statistic this season.

So we could be kept up by a strike force that has gone through whole games without registering a short on target? How ironic would that be?

    The ‘swing’ didn’t actually happen!

Indeed it didn’t. Courtesy of a guy playing his last game of football who scored both of Ossett’s goals. Amusingly Chester invited him to be guest of honour at their end of season awards dinner.

Total disrespect to the English Football Pyramid and the other 23 teams in league 2.

    22. Southend fans have already held protests.

Have you actually read the statement? Simple question.

The season hasn’t been great and we have been so poor at times, it has been hard to watch or stomach, but we are where we are because of those performances. Over the next two games the players, the coaches and the club must find a way to find enough character and pride to ensure we get the point we need to retain our league status. If the players take any responsibility, now is the time to show it and I ask them to leave nothing in the locker as we finish the season, one that has been so difficult for all involved.

We also know that our visit to Bradford will evoke memories of a terrible disaster they had to endure and our thoughts go out to everyone that was lost and the families left behind to mourn.

In our last game at home we will honour the fans who have lost their lives whilst being supporters of our club, but we will also think about the other lives lost – not just locally, but UK-wide due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The club will endure, the town will endure and the country will endure – that is who we are, we must remember, we must care.

I will briefly talk about the leaked shareholders resolution, because I had planned a more concise and informative press release, but that was scuppered by a few negative and uninformed individuals who would rather print lies than pick up the phone to me.

The club is financially safe due to extra funds given to the club as sponsorship for the stadium naming rights, which over the next 10 years will be close to £4.2m. This covered our relegation and the lost revenue, due to the Covid situation and is not part of any loan to the club. The £11m loan was removed because we were obliged to charge interest at £360,000 per annum, by the Revenue, so by offsetting that we were able to save the club £360,000 per annum. The club will pay no rent until it can afford to pay a market rent. It is fully protected, in that it has security of tenure for over 100 years and cannot be moved, or developed unless a new stadium and training facilities are provided elsewhere and that is whilst I am here, or anyone else. It will not be borrowed against and will remain a community football club for all our and our offspring’s lifetimes.

We have had numerous forums and shareholder meetings where I emphasised my commitment to the football club and have proved that with over £24m of investment, which includes £8m of share purchases equating to 92% ownership. Although not quite achieving Championship status, we gave it a go as a little club without risk to the future of the Iron. In fact the future is looking good as we develop the site to provide a more modern looking stadium with better facilities and a quality football and leisure facility. This will include a fully developed training facility, which will incorporate all our teams in one place. Please don’t believe the doom mongers who just want to stain me and my family, or the individuals who have nothing good to say about our club. Look at our investment and commitment to the club, and our future hopes and dreams to leave a legacy and not a tattered and tired stadium and a club in huge debt, but one with supportive owners who put their money where their mouth is.

I can’t talk about all the commercial dialogue, as it would put us at a disadvantage, but I will print everything I can over the coming weeks and all of this is true and as a statement of fact, not what you have seen in the press.

My family and I wish you a safe exit from the restrictions and are honoured to be the owners and protectors of the Iron, both now and into the future.

    UTI

    Peter Swann

Just had a WhatsApp conversation with my Bantam mate. Here’s the cut-and-paste: –

“Thanks. Agree a draw would suit us both, but reckon you’re due a win. My boys are set up negative; lost that winning feeling and even the ball’s stopped running in our favour. Need season to finish asap; shed the out of contracts and start again next season.”

Not just us then, but I wish we had their 58 pts!

Sometimes Awaywego I wonder what the hell you’re on about.

    Does that make WHAT alright?

Criticism of Wharton was on par with what Swann has received in the last 5 years. Do me a favour!

The situation with the present incumbents is totally different. Not the “it was exactly the same with Wharton” nonsense that Bucks would have you believe.

Scroll through a few posts from that past week or two to check out what the majority think. Or to save time just have a look at the POLL thread.

Who said this and about what?

“There is no switch you can turn that suddenly builds back trust with them and the fan base. It is a long and difficult road back”.

    a) Scunthorpe United’s fans about the Swanns.

    b) Richard Scudamore about the Big Six owners.

This is like a pub quiz team who have lost by one point because in answer to the question “what was the Beatles first UK No1, one said “From me to you”, but the others went with “Love me do”!

It matters not a jot who said what, the truth of the matter is we have all lost.

Plenty of passion being shown here. How about we all channel it in the right direction?

As for people not having moaned and groaned loud enough, that would be a sound argument if the moaning and groaning had been constructive. But it hasn’t.

    Err, beg to differ.

Plenty of constructive suggestions have been posted on here in the past five years.

The best we’ve got out of it is a lick of paint in the Iron Bar.

Swann is far more likely to listen to constructive argument about the things that really matter

No he isn’t, which is why we find ourselves in the mire.

It was exactly the same with Wharton

    No it wasn’t, don’t lie.

Shame some people didn’t show the same outrage when black players were being abused on social media.

All we got then was “I wouldn’t take the knee” and “BLM is a Marxist organisation”.

    Pot/kettle, and all that.

We’ve been terrible this season just like we were in the season before we signed Mussy, Bara and Crosby, then look what happened.

That season we had a visit from the Loan Ranger who scored 23 goals in 42 games. We also had a “run through brick walls for the club” CF called Steve Torpey who scored 11 in 43.

This year we’ve had Ryan Loft and Abo Eisa (9 apiece).

A quarter of our games have seen one or no shots on target. Can you imagine Torps or McLean going through a game without a pop on goal?

And as for the players brought in post-haste, well despite starting brightly they have sunk to the depths of uselessness that the rest of the team display.

But hey, you just keep clapping.

Have you? You must work there.

Or are you just spouting shite as usual?

If there was anything good about it Mr Swann would surely have been singing from the highest hillside.

The fact that no official statement has been forthcoming would suggest there isn’t.

If he’s going he needs to go now.

What we don’t want is another summer of recruitment courtesy of the Swanns and a manager who says “yes Peter”.

We want a committed and experienced coach who can bring the right players to the club.

If Cox stays until October when we’re in the bottom four again with unfit, underperforming, non-league hopefuls. Whoever comes in will have a job akin to the fifth labour of Hercules!
