Pineapple head. Can’t remember the guys name but had that same thought as soon as I saw the thread.
Pretty sure didn’t play for England though.
Every single month that Hill drew a wage was tantamount to fraud.
Can never be sure if Swann was actually taken in by his obvious bullshit or if he hired him purely to spite us ungrateful fans.

Maison Campbell has had his York City contract terminated by mutual consent.
Iron back up keeper perhaps? 20 years old, from Nottingham and probably not too expensive.
Jimmy and Gareth must have done their training course 10 or 15 years ago when “Managing the Game” was still the fashionable module Mourinho style.
Before Pep and Klopp et al blew that crap away.
Will he brave enough to address the elephant in the the room?
Bellingham had his 30 minutes of quality followed by 4 hours of disinterested mediocrity.

As Turnbull hinted we already have enough experience in the squad. I hope the majority of trialists are youthful, athletic and with a big point to prove. We had enough of the pension topping up during the Swann era.

Was he playing?

A bit much to claim we are at Scotland’s level.
Just a bit more effort and we could get there though.
I think Michelle in one of her interviews said assistant was sorted but couldn’t be announced until July 1st.

Not even any suggestions from WG.
Close seasons just not what they used to be back in the day.
I was hoping for a signing or two this week but not even a single rumour.
It would be good to get two or three in next week ready for preseason Monday week.
We have been handed a couple of opportunities and at least one of the goals by poor play from our opponents. I’ll stand by what I said about not creating 3 opportunities ourselves.
I might be wrong but I’m certainly not going to watch replays of 2 turgid football matches to double check. I do accept I may have unwittingly dropped off to sleep a couple of times whilst watching them live and missed something good.
Sounds like a plan Siderite
Has anyone ever changed manager mid tournament?
Jimmy Dean could deliver the same performances for a lot less money.
Hojland and Ericsson get picked for about 50% of Man U games. The Spurs lad gets a game when thy have injuries as does Christenson at Barca. Most of the rest are bit part players.
Not having a dig at Denmark here. They did OK. Saka and Guehi were OK for us. The rest were poor.
If Southgate had any idea he would have taken AA off at half time. Told Bellingham to get beside Rice and start working instead of strolling about like a big time Charlie. Put Foden at 10 and brought Palmer or Gordon in on the left. Oh and told Kane he had 10 minutes to play like a Centre Forward or he’s off.
No, Gareth had a better idea. Bring on a high energy low ability midfielder after 55 mins to try and make sure we don’t lose.
Albania won’t win Euro 24 either but they’re much more entertaining for their fans.
Can we have someone come on and tell me Southgate is doing a good job?
While you’re at it convince me why I am being unrealistic to expect we could do better than snatch a lucky draw against a team of reasonable Championship standard?

It’s the right thread Awaywego. Only thing plastic pitches should be used for in professional football is for parking cars on it.

Southgate is brilliant at every aspect of the job except the tactics of modern football. This fundamental flaw is probably what makes him so cautious.
Ever wondered why he has never had an offer from a half decent club side? I refuse to contemplate that there was any truth in the Man U rumour. I think that was just them pretending to hire someone even worse than their last 5 appointments so that Fans would be relieved at ten Hag staying.
Southgate does seem to have mastered turning world class attackers into mediocre defenders.

Poor man’s Jimmy Dean.

You just hope 1 or 2 of them surprise us and are ready to make that step up from promising young players to consistent performer.
Seem to remember nobody was too excited about a 20 year old Gary Hooper turning up at Glanford Park.

Given we needed to reduce the wage bill but have only lost Elliott and Butterfield from the “higher” earners gang this was inevitable.
We should prepare for the keeper and right back to be more Lidl and Aldi than M&S or Waitrose.
If we have any spare cash left to speculate with I would prefer it spent in the wide positions. History suggests Roberts and Law won’t manage 40 games between them.

Can we finish it now?
Never been top before.
Would love to be able to argue that Cass but I think you have hit the nail very centrally on it’s head.
Even so we still need another keeper, a physical defender that can play right back, an energetic and creative wide midfielder and of course 2 proven regular goalscorers.
Not much to ask.
I have seen the new rules on substitutions that now apply in the National League (step 1) but cannot find any evidence that the rules have or are going to change for NLN & NLS (step 2).
If anyone has seen anything different then please share.
Your obviously majoring on the promotion season the 3 of them were here and ignoring their other season when they got relegated.
