And his marauding high speed runs down the right wing. Mullet flowing they started off exciting the crowd until we all realised it inevitably would end with a misplaced shot/cross or a pass to someone in a different coloured shirt.
I have no clue as to what Hilton’s financial plan or ambitions were but it seems beyond doubt to me that he wanted footballing success.
He got some of his football decisions wrong whereas he seemed to get all of his financial and communication decisions wrong.
Dean has proved himself a successful manager of part time football teams.
The primary skill required is spotting good footballers and convincing them to join your club. Having an owner prepared to recompense players over the odds for the level does simplify this somewhat. Other than deciding your formation tactical nous is not really required as you cannot drill different formations in 2 90 minutes training sessions a week particularly when you have to use most of that time for fitness work.
If we assume Dean had a significant say in recruitment under Hilton then he didn’t do too bad. 9 of them are making our unbeaten starting 11.
Managing full time professional teams to success requires a whole bunch of additional (and more difficult) skills.
Butler has spent over 20 years in the full time game most of it in leadership roles, captain, coach etc.
Dean prior to coming here had never been involved in full time professional football.
Dean isn’t a crap manager he was just the wrong manager for the job Hilton brought him in for.

7 games in and a long way to go but loving how we have turned up in every game so far.
Credit to Butler and his team.
Jimmy Spencer was excellent in our home game against Curzon last season.
A much better display than any he managed in an Iron shirt.
The “banter” is a bit forced but they are not really aiming at my demographic which is fine.
The club is big enough for more than 1 podcast and both help in developing and engaging the fan base. Both do a great job.

Tight defences so far. Might only be one goal in it.
I don’t think they will find the new fit and aggressive Iron to be the soft touch we were last season.Maxi will probably score it.
300 away and not many more home fans. Supposed to be working tonight so have to make do with the stream.
UTI
Not disputing any of that Sidy and I was posting about the Swann and Hilton disasters with the best of them.
The fraudster has been gone for nearly a year and we seem to have found a professional manager so maybe time to let it go is all I’m suggesting.
Whilst never ever forgetting, of course.
Nice to see Bru posters raising their game and posts now mainly about football. Seems a couple of years at least since that was the case.
Once the stragglers let go of Hilton and Dean we’ll be sorted. The behind the scenes stuff is thankfully dull now we have adults in charge.
Most important a bit of a run gives the lads not getting regular starts the chance to get/keep sharp.
Better than behind closed doors friendlies.
Keep up the scouting reports Phil.
Good work.
Shame for you SOD. Must be closer than a home game for you.
Always thought going to the gym was bad for you.

Could be another 1st vs 2nd clash.

Got mine quick after missing out last season.
Bad, sad times IFA. Sorry to hear.
Hopefully the Iron can keep things going and give you a bit of cheer.

They played some really good 1 and 2 touch stuff in the high intensity first 20 minutes.
We dealt with that impressively and they actually created very little. Their only good chance came from Maxi’s slack backpass.
We gradually got hold of the midfield and they started to go aimlessly long. Kiddy were better for me than any side we played last season which puts our performance into perspective.
An unexpected bit of class and honesty from Brown in his post match interview. That’s how you deal with getting beaten by a better team Mr Dickman (how apt that name).
They get about 2,500 to home games so you would think they would have managed about 300 for a Saturday game.
Be interesting to see how many make it tonight.
2-0 home win
4,200
I’d rather we lost it trying to win it than draw it trying not to lose.

Dean also finished comfortably second albeit in a lower league.
Cox had a more difficult gig as did Daws but each were bettered by Nelson if only for a brief period.
From recent times Hill definitely Cox probably.

Might see him in the Lincs Cup later on the season.
Wish him well An OK bloke who dealt with the Hilton farce with some dignity.

Let’s hope Friday it’s tango man justifying how his “better team” lost 3-0.
talk bollocks
Thought that was what football forums were for.

Their keeper was booked in their previous game for time wasting. Sadly everyone does it and much better refs than the NLN throws up are unwilling or unable to stop it.
I thought Jimmy was a bit delusional at times but that fella takes the biscuit. 15 passes between your centre backs and goalie before one of them hoofs it forward does not constitute good football and rarely delivers winning football.
I do believe it was the Tories house journal that did for Sven.
Can’t have these foreigners taking our jobs when we could have Steve McClaren instead.
Good call Cass. Comfortably their best player today.
Reckon their keeper, centre backs and right wing back had over 50% of their possession but it was possession without intent.
A lot of their play was a bit like watching us at times last season.
