Did anyone think of asking the National League and Boston if the game could have been moved to Monday night?

Rarely go into Scunthorpe at weekends except to watch football but is parking not always free at weekends in town?

Hardly a solution to the chaos the road closures will cause. Presenting it as something agreed by the club and the council when it’s available every weekend and evening is a bit disingenuous.

Might help the 1500 Boston fans to know this though.

I think (and hope) you are overestimating the risk Plymiron.

I think Evans is the player with the shortest fuse and is definitely targeted because of that but I think Jimmy will have him on the bench and stick with Kouogan and Boyce.

I would play Evans and risk the temper as he is easily the best passer of the 3 and equally good defensively. If we were playing Alfreton or Curzon I think it would be more of an issue. Boston are physically strong and they keep intensity levels throughout the game but they favour a bit of football rather than the dark arts to get results.

Whitehall gets into a few spats mainly because of his own attempts at shithousery but I was impressed with him at Spennymoor. He was unfairly booked early on and targeted for the rest of the game without ever responding.

I think our other red cards have been Scales and McAlinden for mistimed tackles, the kind of things that happen now and again.

I know some fans think refs have a downer on us and on Whitehall in particular. Apart from the idiot at Spennymoor I think a scary number of refs have been incompetent but not biased. Quite a few refs would not give Whitehall a free kick unless he was a victim of of GBH but he brings that upon himself and obviously his reputation goes before him.

Hoping for a decent ref, Whitehall concentrating on his football, no red cards, a good game, a record crowd, no bloody flares and an iron win in normal time.

    Not much to ask.

Depends if we’re talking the team we think Jimmy will pick or the team I would pick.

    I would go for:

    Fitzsimons
    Ogle Kouogan Evans McAlinden
    Butterfield Beestin Scales
    Roberts Whitehall Elliott

Elliott is not a natural wide forward but he is mobile and a constant threat. Jai Rowe is a decent full back (one of Boston”s best players last night) but not so good against bigger guys with a bit of physicality. When attacking I would see Elliott moving inside to play off Whitehall with McAlinden providing width on the left.

Boston lost one of their regular centre backs last night with a head injury so he will be out due to concussion protocol. A weakness to exploit with 2 up front when attacking.

We don’t need 4 at the back against a side with a very cautious approach unless they fall behind (based on the evidence of our 2 games against them and last night against Alfreton. I would want our full backs high and wide when we have the ball. Boston dominated the ball last night particularly in the first half but were very reluctant to support their front men.

I would play Scales before Clunan because he offers greater mobility and consistency.

I would play Evans before Boyce because he is a better passer of the ball than Boyce (and the rest of our defenders).

Delighted anti football didn’t win last night. A decent referee (for this level) stamped straight down on the petty niggling fouls that Alfreton (and the Curzon Ashton’s, the Buxton’s and even the Chorley and Tamworth’s) make such an important part of their game. Without getting away with the dark arts they created little and pretty much relied on their 40 or so long throws.

I think Beestin will play but hopefully not at left back.

McAlinden will play their I expect. Scales will likely be the one to make way for Beestin. It would be Clunan if I was picking the team.

Much as I want Jimmy and the gang to be successful he himself has stated it’s promotion or bust.

Given the playing budget and the differences in quality of our squad relative to the level I think this is fair enough.

Not suggesting he would deserve to be sacked but surely he wouldn’t be offered a new contract.

The FA come out of this particularly badly. Sold out their member football clubs for a £33m bribe from the entitled few.

Cost of a back up midfielder.

The greedy bar stewards from the self proclaimed best league in the world put two fingers up once again to the rest of football.

Best in the world but not so good in Europe.

I was not suggesting season ticket holders get different prices. Far from it. Like most season ticket holders I suspect I am delighted the club has the opportunity to make as much as possible.

It is usual with the Iron and any other professional club that season ticket holders are given a period to buy a ticket for their normal seat or standing area. Any seats or spaces not claimed can then go on general sale. This ensures the most popular seats and areas are filled and crowd/revenue is maximised. Surely that is as much in the interests of the away club and the National League.

It would help the club greatly to have a couple more days to sell tickets.

They would then be able to give season ticket holders a couple of days to claim their place before a longer window for general sale. The DRE will sell out but the club are going to have to leave the full allocation of season ticket holders separate from those they can sell.

They are not going to sell out all seats but given they have to leave almost 2,000 seats available for an away team that may only bring 2 or 3 hundred then they could sell the majority of “home” seats. Again without time for the season ticket holder window means seat with a good view will have to be left empty while folks buy Cluggy Stand tickets with a poor view.

Not the end of the world but it makes things inconvenient for the club and fans for no good reason. We know already the date time and venue for the fixture. The away team will get allocated nearly 2,000 seats that none of the contenders will sell out whichever of them makes it. What is the problem National League?

I would hope the club are taking catering back in house so that they can deliver a quality product whilst making the club a profit.

This would surely have been the sensible decision however good, bad or indifferent the outsourced catering had proved to be.

Just because idiot one could never deliver an edible burger or make a profit in his 10 years and idiot two gave it away does not mean it cannot be run properly and profitably.

Of course the guy needs to be derided and sent packing by the self righteous.

Having the audacity to introduce queues at the catering points after 10 years without any.

Have always thought Kelly looks OK but not sure he has shown he is better than Denton. Pretty sure I read somewhere that Kelly has made 6 starts and we have lost 5 of them.

If true then not surprising that Denton gets the nod.

Difficult to judge against such ineffectual opposition but I thought Corbett was comfortably our best attacking player in the first half. Sublime first touch and covers the ground defensively too. Best foil for Whitehall and Roberts since Smith sadly departed.

Shocking “tackle” on Denton. Late high and probably a red card.

Not sure why Corbett was sent out second half heavily strapped with the game so obviously won. Looked a poor decision even before the further hamstring tweak.

After the previous 5 seasons of sh1te and seeing off 2 toxic owners a small party might be in order.

If we could actually win the playoffs then the party could be upgraded to a medium.

Does Jimmy get forgiven if we win the playoffs?

Bit of a fan of Barrows and wouldn’t mind seeing him stay next season.

It’s always helpful to have at least one of your full backs 6ft and decent in the air particularly at National League levels where set pieces are so important.

I think Kelly is the only full back contracted for next season.

Surely we will be emergency loaning a new keeper?

Have noticed despite the overall lower quality of football in this league (compared to what we have been accustomed to) I have been impressed with the quality of goalkeeping.

How on earth did we perservere with Watson for so long with so many quality part time keepers about?

Basing my needing to win every game on the need to finish 2nd to avoid playoff away games.

We have failed to show we have any capability to beat a half decent NLN side away from home.

Given we kind of have to win 5 games in a row and we are struggling to score or indeed create many real chances then we have to take Iron Stats latest data into account.

Too late to change formation from the one we’ve used in every game except Chester away.

    Fitz
    Ogle
    Kouogan
    Evans
    Denton
    Shrimpton
    Butterfield
    Scales
    Roberts
    Whitehall
    Elliott

    Subs
    Sembie-Ferris
    Beestin
    Boyce
    Pugh
Kelly/sub keeper for actual playoff match(es).

Tactics – don’t care if they score, we’ll score more.

Time for the big pants Jimmy.

Just seen an absolute cracker from Iron Stats on Twitter.

We have not won a game in April for 6 years.

Bodes well for our play off chances.
