Saw someone bearing a striking resemblance a couple of days back standing on the M181 slip road with a suitcase thumbing a lift.
Please, I’m getting deja vu here. Spent many many hours hitching from Scunny to Brighton and back during the mid to late 1980’s. 👍🏻
It’s very bad form to literally tell an old person you’d like for him to die. 😟

A brief look at the NLN standings today indicates that there are seven playoff places, and four for relegation. We will need to watch our steps next season, imo.
A true Iron legend, was great against Leeds in the FA Cup fourth round replay in 84. Happy days !
A few forum members who joined recently are attempting to sow the seeds of doubt. The trouble is that we are in a better place since Hilton purchased our club. He pulled us out of the deep doo doo, then payed off our debt with the tax man. We now have to look to the future, now that we have one, and give the man a chance to build success. I will now ignore conspiracy theorists on here. At the end of the day, Swann is gone, things will only get better.

If I remember, Ivan Toney was not very good when we had him. Now there are rumours that Ten Hag wants him at Manchester United.
So it’s not just managers that are not up to much when they come to The Iron, then go on to prove themselves at a higher level then? It’s players too.

Okay so I read this on the companies house website, having searched Coolsilk…
(Fair review of the business
The directors continue to work on the disposal of the Scunthorpe United asset to the new owner with a deadline of 24 May 2023 for completion.)I do hope that this is what will happen, and that PDS doesn’t reneg on it.

We have had, imo, years of corruption and mismanagement from the very top. It is hard to be enthusiastically optimistic, even with new a new owner and manager. I have no problem with Ilkeston, indeed before Hilton arrived I hadn’t given them much thought. If our new Chairman can run The Iron as well as he did Ilkeston, I will be pleased. But I’m NOT interested in transferring ANY aspect of our club’s running seventy miles down the road, great training pitch or not.
That will be my last comment on the matter. As long as Mr Hilton doesn’t have any more of those ideas.

Whoever he does sign would struggle to be as badly motivated as the shower we have now. Short term loanees are ok if you lose both goalies, as we did with two broken arms in one match, remember that? But to sign all those players on such terms was too much! At the same time I’m still relieved that we still have a club to support in Scunthorpe.

He sold the stadium and land to Coolsilk, his own company. We still have no clue as to when (or if) our new chairman will actually buy it.
I’ve lost count of how many manager we have had over the last twenty years. The clamour of fans to get them sacked has always bothered me. The fact that some of these ‘terrible’ managers have proven themselves by being successful elsewhere, is a case in point. Look at where Mark Robins is now for instance, doing very well at Coventry. Could it be that he is getting better backing from their board? Or perhaps they are letting him do his job without interference? Maybe both.
I don’t believe how far we have fallen, but really can’t see the same thing happening next season. So let Dean have his chance, bring in his own players on real contracts, and see how he gets on over a longer period of time.
This is where the rot has to stop! Sorry but we are now in what could be described as L6. Our football club has been stripped of all assets by a gambling addict former owner. But for gods sake, it’s NLN!!
He also said he had to aim for promotion next year, or he’ll lose his job. So let’s see what he can do with players he chooses himself. Give him ten or so games in NLN.
This is head and shoulders the best topic being discussed on this forum right now. Best drink to go with curried goat, any takers
Got to be a nice Chianti 😎
I wonder if any local people will volunteer to help the club in these desperate times. It doesn’t look like there will be many people employed there for next season.

I have, for some time now, suspected that Swann deliberately ruined our club because of the criticism he received on here, Facebook groups etc.
Well he got what he wanted, and in record time. Bas****!
We have to get behind our team next season. Try to create a decent atmosphere. Fingers crossed we don’t get stuck in that division for too long…

Robertson was being aggressive, the linesman defensive. But it’s all over the internet, poor little Robertson. Liverpool are always over protected. Roy Keene hit the nail on the head, even if he was being hypocritical.
We had a shed load of nonentities in the January window, just wondered who chose them. If it was Hilton, then perhaps it is no surprise that they are not seeming to play for Dean.

So (and apologise if this has already been covered), how much say did Jimmy Dean have in the recruitment of all those new players? They don’t seem at all loyal to him!

Biden is senile, no clue where he is or what day/year it is…
Milton Keynes (new town, not the original village) was created by an Act of Parliament on 23rd January 1967.
Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes in 2003… some 36 years later.
MK wasn’t a new town when Wimbledon moved there.
And… just like Wimbledon, weren’t we on the brink of going bust?
At the time Wimbledon were already playing their matches at Selhurst Park. Which for those who don’t already know, is Christal Palaces ground. Plough Lane had been left empty and abandoned…
Ok, so the plan to move the training of our players to Ilkeston has been abandoned. I don’t know if there is still time to save the academy.
The main problem for me is playing in NLN next season. Only one promotion place to play for, it’s like an elephant’s graveyard. I fear we might get stuck with it…

Is it legal to steal a clubs assets? Is it legal to then take out a mortgage on such assets?
Is it legal to then try to sell the lot?
Why aren’t the FA and EFL looking into this?Ask Man United fans, they have had this from the Glazer family for many years now.
He wanted to try something different re the training of our players, but it was a step too far and rightly or wrongly, the move led to much mistrust from us fans. So much to consider here, and I personally was against the lads training in Ilkeston. But whatever his true motives were, we cannot blame him for being pissed off.
I have to admit that I don’t know where in Scunthorpe the lads actually train. But have to assume that the facilities are substandard. So thanks for trying to find an alternative Mr Chairman, sorry but taking any aspect of The Iron out of North East Lincolnshire is unacceptable to us as fans of the club. And now you know!

Spam fritters in Foxhills school canteen were proper good, and also cheap. Happy days.
What is happening to Trump now is a test case. With the buzzards circling above, they will do everything they can to get this over the line. If they manage to punish him enough, more charges will follow. But if he walks away from court still able to launch a leadership campaign, they will probably have to wait. No point chasing it now if he might well shrug them off. My bet is that they will leave it until the next elections. Not just to discredit him further, but to interfere with his campaign.
Even then, it doesn’t come without risks…
I must admit, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought about reminding you that this is the Non Football forum. Hey ho!
You actually quoting yourself there Siderite…
