Brogan subbed. Maybe he’s not the answer.
I assume 3 subs only?
Down at HT. Even with 7 changes – the dullness continues.
‘Poor and lackadaisical’ according to Ollie.1 user thanked author for this post.
Where’s Carlton Ubaezuonu?
Injured?Good spot, IFA.
I haven’t seen enough to form an opinion.
We have seen Scales cover at RB during matches – and I often thought the same thing, WG. However, I’d be pretty reluctant to remove Barrows from the team.
One niggling concern of mine is that I am unsure as to whether Roberts works to his best in this formation.I didn’t actually ask for a Dixon. Mind you …

I think that we are a player short, CBRP.
I’m far from convinced that Scales and Roberts can play in the same midfield. For me, it throws the balance right out of kilter.
Every regular on here probably knows that I was a great admirer of Bish: not only a pretty big guy but he brought a kind of order and control to CM which we currently lack. Clunan is a good player but is rather slight of build.
Clearly, we can’t afford a player with all of Bishop’s attributes but there must be a player in NLN or NLS hewn out of a similar mould that we could chase down.
Currently, this really is one of the smaller midfields I’ve seen over the last half century.I missed the attendance.
?At least 50% more wretched passes than in the Curzon game.
We certainly did not deserve 3 points!Barrows beats Ogle in terms of effectiveness.
In the 60s and 70s there was a diminutive player, who sadly died tragically young, called Trevor Hockey who played in CM for a multitude of clubs.
He used to receive oodles of praise for running around the pitch a lot – especially when he played for the Blades.
Work rate off the scale: effectiveness deeply limited.
No disrespect to the departed but watching his achievements on the pitch – I was always profoundly baffled by the surfeit of positives he ‘earned’.
Gotta say that, more than a few times, I’ve watched Ogle and had very similar feelings half a century apart.Agreed. That’s what’s worrying me!

The downside, Rene, is that we have conceded a goal!
We probably deserved to edge it but there were a dozen appalling passes in there.
How do Americans spell their yewww sound of applied disgust? (I accept that my attempt here may be a long way off target.)
Second cousin to a ‘yuk’.
Appreciated.
My suspicions about Scales have now been laid aside. I am truly beginning to see the player he can and should be.
Whitehall my MOTM.
SO much to like; so much calmness; so much intelligence; so much professionalism.
No dropping back to ‘protect’ a 1-0 lead.
Yes, Andy. More of the same, please.2 users thanked author for this post.
He’s mid 40s. No.
An important game to WIN!

Ah.
Maybe just a tad naive?
Really appreciate this.
Thanks Matt – thanks to all who participated.Too unsure that Chorley/NM football would bring that outcome.
I tend to agree but am not ready to fully endorse AB. Don’t want to see too many games like Chorley and NM.
3 games like SS or Brackley every four games or so and my grin will turn magically into a broad smile.Carlton is short of real match fitness. Today will have helped.
Evans my MOTM. Great forward play by Whitehall.4 users thanked author for this post.
SOOOO professional!!
Super, AB!3 users thanked author for this post.
I looked again at the goal conceded on Saturday. The defence was appallingly stretched and nobody seemed to notice. The goal was an absolute shocker! (Just as I’d remembered – but worse.)
I was giving Max K MOTM on the opening day – nowhere close against Chorley.
Evans is good at reading situations and has leadership qualities – he will probably have to be back today, irrespective as to whether Boyce is fit or not.Glad to see Denton in the first half. The very decent player is coming back – albeit slowly.
I am struggling to see any real shape on the pitch at the moment.
(A lot of supporters must have watched NM game – they didn’t turn up!) -
