It sounds unreal, IA – when put in those terms – but it isn’t!
We need a CM, Deerey.
WG wants Brogan in there. It’s worth a try.
(BTW, sticking to your guns has a certain nobility to it in some circumstances AB – these are not they.)I predicted that 3 bad performances in November would bring it all to a head.
Well.
1 stinker to start us off.1 user thanked author for this post.
Apologies, Bill.
Okay, our long throw expert’s passing skills as a CB really worry me.
But to be fair, the demands on CBs who receive precious little help from CM in front of them leads to … well … what we’ve got at the moment. We must use this (fairly) dead fortnight to reconstitute the side. We could then be very pleasantly surprised what currently failing players could do in a more sensible system.
It’s been said many times but we are playing two FBs as WBs. Both are better FBs.
A change there would surely give us an instant defensive improvement. My spies are also suggesting Luke Williams.
AB: Two attack-minded players.
First appears to be coming in on Monday.
Second still in the decision-making process – a probable?Where is the CM??
Some players going out on loan.
It has been clear for 6 – 8 weeks that something is badly wrong.
Why the mega delays in addressing critical issues?
If it’s right to act now – and of course, we don’t yet know that it is – what has changed? What contribution is Schofield making?
Without wanting to get too boring, we need a large presence in CM who can both head a ball and control one. The ability to make passes whilst not losing possession might be nice.

Dominant CM remains the greater priority.

Well played, Buxton!
Have Buxton got shut of their thuggery?
Last commentary – mine was silent til 11 minutes past 3!
Does the blame for the confusion and late everything lie with the BBC or Humberside?
Others arrive on time so I have to point Hullwards. The question which has been touched on but never really asked outright is whether or not this squad is actually good enough to win promotion if handled judiciously.
In the opening to the season the answer looked clear.
Today, it is considerably less so.
Squad depth is certainly a concern but when you add what looks suspiciously like obstinacy regarding playing systems to the mix, the answer comes back with a resounding ‘No!’2 users thanked author for this post.
Cloud Cuckoo Land originated from Greek literature if memory serves.
Well, our ‘tactics’ are certainly all Greek to me!I hope that if we get the same Buxton cheating as last year – we have a ref strong enough to deal with it!

Denton is not the player I was watching in early Autumn 2023.
Evidence that the football is simply way below par must start seeping into AB’s consciousness very, very soon or he is doomed. (I tell you!)
Carlton is not a centre forward – and anyway, is still off the pace. Fishburn is undercooked. Beestin is needed in midfield. Whitehall has an injury.
Not even a remnant forward line remains.
No weight in CM. This means that the CBs are now having to suffer ever more pressure when not properly covered from midfield.
On top of all this we continue to play with a badly failing formation.2 users thanked author for this post.
Whatever my feelings, three more performances in November like last night and AB is gonna be in serious trouble.
Check the gate carefully on Saturday and try to interpret what the fans are doing.
How far short of 4,400?
Also, if a fair few season ticket holders are missing – it means they aren’t spending.
Inertia is no option. Some kind of action or other by the board will be unavoidable.Never looked at it that way, Bill.
That made me think. (Had to happen one day, I suppose.)Irrespective of what formation is played, you cannot afford to grant huge amounts of space to the opposition.
My mate came around last night and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
Spennymoor often had 15 yards of space when one of their guys was on the ball. That means that you can basically do whatever you like.
When more than one player has this amount of space – the opposition can make hay whether or not the sun is shining.
I think that our chances of ending this season in the top half are very poor.
You clearly cannot play football this feeble and expect to make any progress whatsoever.3 users thanked author for this post.
Yup.
Our betting friends – odds on a playoff place?
1) I was going Saturday – shan’t now.
2) Same old same ole.
3) No efforts to improve.
4) The space given to Spennymoor (first half especially) was an utter disgrace!
5) Organisation was only seen occasionally.
6) Our midget CM was not up to the task!
7) Am starting to get cross.
8) Yes – the ref caused our defeat. But our team looked below par – again!
9) What the hell was Fitz up to? Who was it put him under such.pressure?
10) Sorry but we will not even achieve playoffs with this load of poo!2 users thanked author for this post.
There were reffing issues.
To be fair, the countless reffing issues last season made me fear for this season – but there seems to have been far fewer.1 user thanked author for this post.
We have been told that there was cash for loan players if …
Losing a third of our 4,400 from a few weeks back seems probable rather than possible if we keep on giving bad displays.
Losing points when playing attractive football is always less damaging.More of what we are getting at the moment and gates will plummet.
Then we are trapped coz we shan’t be able to sign the couple of players we so desperately need.1 user thanked author for this post.
I want to see the club have managerial stability – preferably with AB.
(I had wondered however, what differences there might have been if his assistant had been in the driving seat. Bags of experience there.) -
