I don’t want any loan players in who haven’t got at least 40 or 50 league games under their belts. Young loanees to make up the numbers is not the way to go.
Bringing in the untried and untested to lift a team with our problems is crazy!
We’ve done it year after year and is one – amongst many – reasons why we are where we are today.
League Two plodders are preferable to the inexperienced ‘with great potential’.4 users thanked author for this post.
Dewhurst and Bunney still with us – and the rest?
Sorry , Mick – I don’t understand the title.

Pleased with both signings but we’re still a good half dozen short.
The worry, of course, is that we’ll be forced to settle for half a dozen fill-ins.3 users thanked author for this post.
It was apparently a second yellow.
I can see why the ref might have given a yellow for that. (I wouldn’t have, though.)It’s hardly ‘threatening behaviour’.
Very hard done to.
Thanks for that Fe.2 users thanked author for this post.
Did he retaliate?
No great amounts of travelling in the first few away games, then.
The ones we want from these trialists – will they have realised just how low their salaries are going to be yet?
It is a very good point, Pat, our movement off the ball has been wretched for a very long time.
This is one area where KH has a reputation for producing real quality in his sides.
Unless the horrendous Iron setup really has cooked his goose once and for all – I do anticipate a mega improvement in this part of our play, provided of course, we have adequate quality to be able to adjust to this division.5 users thanked author for this post.
Gutsy lad.
As for the goalkeeper issue …
Soon it’s gonna be a fortnight into training with no signings.
Must we assume that a number – possibly greater than the 2/3 mentioned by LT – will be signed from trialists?
Let us say that this were the case – we then have two mega problems unresolved – goal-scorers and pace. Both seem completely absent from the squad.I repeat …
So much depends on how often we attack; how quickly the ball goes forward; how many times the ball goes into opposition box and what quality of ball is delivered.
Last season only Feeney made any contribution at all to that sort of play. The others seemed only capable of lumping it forward.
You are right, of course, Renee about the brace of forwards needed.
I wonder where they will come from?1 user thanked author for this post.
Ohh, bottoms!
I meant O’Hara, of course.1 user thanked author for this post.
Yes, but – is O’Shea available to us lowly folk?
“Powers-that-be sticking to incredibly destructive actions” would take rather longer, Cass.

Well. Fans making allegedly ‘destructive’ comments: powers-that-be sticking to incredibly destructive actions?

Stats need proper interpretation and a balanced overview.
(We have all heard the expression ‘lies, damned lies and statistics.’)
I am surrounded by family and friends who are statisticians.
If prevailing circumstances are not taken into account – stats are without any value.
If the England test selectors get a new coach, can he be judged on results?
Yes, of course.
BUT what if, he is told that he is not allowed to have any players in his squad with previous test experience?
What then is the inevitable outcome? – A 100% defeat record.
Do we then blame the hapless coach? (Many SUFC supporters would naturally say, “Of course!”)
OR do we wait to see what he can/cannot do when not under impossible restraints.
KH will surely have a below par squad – but one which may not be as bad as that of last season.
Under those constraints, a reasonable target is perhaps required. After all, we shall be in an allegedly weaker division.
My suggestion is that if we are anywhere above – say 8th from bottom – in early October, he will have proved himself.2 users thanked author for this post.
We were told by LT that not all will be signed – two or three, apparently.
But, all the same, thank you for attempting a logical argument.1 user thanked author for this post.
I assume typo or Freudian slip, NI, you put an ‘m’ on the front of the penultimate word.

£600 quid a week is better than being on benefits. Make him an offer

How many times do we need the restaurant analogy or similar, I wonder?
You know a great restaurant – you pay your money and are served with great food.
One day you are served poor food – as a person of generous spirit – you write that off and give it one more try.
It may be the end of for you and the restaurant – or, perhaps, a new beginning.Over the last four years, Iron fans have been served with food fit for cockroaches six or seven DOZEN times. (And that’s in home games alone!)
Frankly, how any fans remain is astonishing. It shows incredible dedication and loyalty on their part.4 users thanked author for this post.
Yes. There does seem to be more than a hint of irony.

Youth? – Bring ’em on!
One teeny problem – they do need experienced heads taking up more than half the first team in any one game. That really puzzles me.

Well, T.O.M, just one question – who is offering the best odds on a second relegation?
1 user thanked author for this post.
Too good for us, I fear.
Too expensive for us, I fear.On the basis that KH must be sacked even if he should succeed with his ‘new squad’ – we might as well sack now as failure is the only possible outcome having seen how sparse this squad is.
As we have apparently reached a point where only the insane, the unhinged or the downright crazy would accept the post – do please give a rational explanation as to who is going to manage this shambles after his departure. -
