From Wednesday, we have a couple of days to make good the mentioned EFL signings at the closure of their transfer window – before our next Saturday game
Get this right with three trustworthy players in who can cover the areas of direst need and we can muddle through this season.
Fail to do this and it is hard to see any way back.

For years, I have repeatedly gone on and on about the Iron taking crosses without any player coming in from beyond the far post to meet them.
If commentary was accurate – we had that situation just ONCE in the entire game, today – when the cross was ironically made to the near post!
Commentators described a a multitude of situations where there was no player coming in to meet the ball across the 6 yard box.
It’s not just KH – this has been the case with at least five out of five of our recent managers.
WHY?

Just before their second, I saw one of our lads in an advanced position get, what looked very much like a heavy ‘clop aboot the heed’ with an arm. One second later the ball was in the net.
It never occurred to me that the goal would be allowed.
Was I seeing things coz few reacted?

Incidentally, finicky annoying ref. 4/10

As for Beestin coming off – there will surely have been a valid reason. In a decent CM – he is starting to show what he can do.

Nobody’s arguing that we don’t have a major lack of defenders.
We have scored seven in four games – something must be right.
2 decent defenders can radically change this squad.

Yes but he wasn’t the one making all the duff passes. Against Yeovil – it was the best passing seen in yonks.
Second half at Maidenhead showed that it can be achieved with these players.

Nige seemed to be praising the tactical changes as a number of players had a right stinker and seemingly things needed to change to kick ’em into gear.

Nuttall header. He seemed to climb high, defy gravity and hang in the air for half a second. That is an ability which really could bring us goals from set pieces. First time I’ve seen him do it.

I loved the role he was given.
Here, there and everywhere. (Ok just so long as we have other midfielders, in the know, and falling back to cover RB.) Funny. I’d thought he was taller. No matter.
This looked a decent team but squad depth is dangerously lacking.
