The French play a brand of dirty football.
Positive management is most welcome. Not seen a lot of it in recent years. So much right yesterday – hope our little shreds of optimism are not soon to be dashed.
Carver and Lavery kept the ball better than Nuttall tended to.

Buxton played their game!
I had it on the box whilst watching the Iron live stream – so missed a lot but Morocco seemed to deserve the win.
Very positive. Are they really better than Portugal – or was it an off day?Agreed, IA. I’ve recently slammed Beestin but thought he was great.
Great having the live stream.

Let’s just sit back a week or two and see exactly what unfolds.

So much written on Bru which is a hybrid between guesswork and speculation.
Cash in on Nuttall, if possible. Lavery is decent and better still in a better side. If, as suspected, Butterfield is the highest current earner – let him go if anyone bids £80k+.
If anyone truly believes that he’d show his best in a better side – scrap that idea.
Ogle – keep.
Boyce has had it rough in that defence – pretty sure that he can be better than is showing at present.
I said not to keep Beestin at the end of last season. Will continue to feel that way unless he shows his evident better qualities much more frequently in every game.
Disappointed in so many but being a young player in a rapidly plummeting team is unlikely to have you showing your best.
Obviously, we’ll need to keep Hallam. Just in case.I would make one point, BS, I believe that this had already kicked in a good few weeks before the January.
The move by Alexander was so dramatic, especially when we were in such a strong position – I don’t think I would dare to publish some of the suspicions which currently wander around my brain. If I had tangible evidence, however … then maybe.‘Several years?’ I’d say the cut-off, NI, was the time when Alexander switched from highly successful tactics to ones which did not allow us to win points when dominating League One.

Root and branch!

I’m more concerned that we truly try – whoever is in charge – to stay up this season.
I am concerned that we may attempt to do this with a fistful of loan players. If newcomers are our own – they, at least, should be incentivised for the fight.
I’m not writing off loanees entirely – but they’d have to be experienced and have a couple of seasons left in ’em. Leadership qualities a must!
I think the appointee should be the one most likely to be able to bring in at least half a dozen tough players capable of making a real difference to the squad.
To bring in a clutch of new players – it’s gonna have to be someone who has many contacts and loadsa respect from players he’s previously managed.
Not asking for much, am I?2 users thanked author for this post.
The final two months of Hurst’s reign was the last time we shaped like a football team.
I know a number of City fans who opposed the name change but whenever I asked them why, I never seemed to get a rational answer.
The claim from the Allams was that this would bring in new funding – I never heard anyone deny that this would happen.
Puzzling – but hardly our problem.
Our only issue of import is trying to repair the damage caused at GP by a certain party.Number one priority – destructive CM,
Number two Priority – CB.
Number three priority – an FB who can cover both flanks.
Number four priority – pace.
I can live with the GK for the moment, BS.Vital above all things – leadership skills!
I wonder if we will now be able to get a Chief Scout who knows something about football.
LT for Chief Scout?Hmm. “We will be helping the coaching staff by identifying some new additions.” LT.
Prayer works.

Thanks, Simon. Say ‘Hi’ to Charles David for me!
So, then. Do we all agree that Musk to replace PS would be a good call?
He would certainly want to get rid of all dead wood, moreover, he does sell a pretty decent car.But many on here seem to have deep-rooted objections to having more than one youngster in any starting eleven, WG. If we were to play three – some would surely go apoplectic.
Health food shops often – or buy online.
Myrrh is brilliant for toothache but can do nothing for the incessant heartache of being an Iron supporter.
Strong point BS, but – as with Rory – there is only so much pressure that a GK can take before an error will inevitably appear. Howard made his fair share of blunders too.
I’ll go with that first point – add a GK to the 5+. So, 6+ it is then!I sympathise with most of the other points you make.
It won’t help too much, I’d guess – but balance might just look a bit better in January.
I can’t believe that Butterfield and Nuttall are not our highest earners – and by quite a margin! Strong likelihood that with those wages freed + transfer fees (if allowed to use them) – we could aim to get five+ decentish new faces in.
Butterfield has had a number of average games and Nuttall’s scoring record has been flattered by penalties. How much would they be missed?
Personally, I’d also want Ntlhe to go. Too many injuries.
We must have: an LB, a CB, Beestin replacement – preferably Bish-style player, someone with pace and another striker.
The trouble is that even if this plan could be implemented – early in the new year we are going to need four wins on the trot just to keep in touch with 5th bottom.
Should new owners arrive (I’m not holding my breath) they would need to spend big to try to rescue the season from this position. Same positions need covering but with players currently we’d not be able to afford. Not with all these games against the division’s top clubs backing up.
Listening to the commentary, it sounded that they have now lost any and all self-belief.
They are now virtually incapable of: defending, holding possession, making clean passes, finding space, riding tackles, tackling and reading the game.
These are, for the most part, not poor players.
They simply have no leaders on the pitch to start addressing that rather lengthy list of problems. Failure breeds ever more failure.
Only an injection of leaders can save us.
So, in conclusion, down we go. I am no longer sure that even an extra £1 million for the remains of this season could be enough.1 user thanked author for this post.
