Our average of stars to total duds has been pretty shocking.
In the middle, of course, we have so often had mediocre signings no better than what we already had.For every one you correctly mention – there were probably a dozen+ who did not cut the mustard.
But only paying him on a ‘matches played’ basis, Cass, is surely the best of both worlds for the club and for him. No pay if not featuring. Still have the option if he comes good. What’s to be lost?
I’d offer Hallam a contract.
There. That made you pay attention!Pay him fairly generously on a game to game basis with a half fee if he makes the bench and full if he plays or comes on as a sub.
What we cannot do is subsidise his injuries any longer.May seem unfair to some but when you consider the money he’s already had from the club …
There really is a player in there, so if the injury situation is remedied club would have the option of two independent, back to back half season contracts. From what little I know, this ought not to go against the rules. Gives both the club and Hallam a chance of a decent future together.
There certainly have been past deals brokered for playing on a match by match basis.
How bad would we feel if the injuries are temporary and some other club were to get the best of the lad?My Blades neighbours rated him incredibly highly – couldn’t believe he’d come to us and still ask about him four years on.
Hard to judge properly after one game – but he may be just the job!
At first sight Gerry, our ‘big lad up front’ looks to me as if he is able to bring the players around him into the game. This was not a Nuttall strength.

Certainly do. A talented CM with all the necessary skills except he only had one speed – painfully slow.
The philosophy must be greater than just ‘We’ll attempt to win every game.’
I’d love to see a sports psychologist added to the group in the pre-match to every game.
The ‘Dunkirk Spirit’ saw 339,000 troops rescued in a situation which was beyond impossible.
Of course, most of us are realists – we all know that the likelihood of success is tiny – but the impossible does sometimes happen.I saw a post somewhere in Alcy’s real name quite recently.

A touch of honesty.
(If it’s a word you’ve never encountered in years – have a glance at a dictionary definition.)Not hugely struck with him up against big forwards.
Poor call, Rene. We don’t want ’em too high up.
How about the Stockport Gum Chewers League – Division Three?Interesting, SF.
Must wonder how much input from LT.As for a CB – we really do need cover, even if a solid GK brings the best out of Taft. Everything needed in place except CB.
Anyone seeing Bunker as a CB?Just so long as they can oust Nelson’s reformed players by simply being better than them.
That would be nice.
The Bridge. Was that Hull or Barnsley?
Rory anyone?
I reckon that the top third of this division could well outgun most in the top half of League Two.
Matters have now moved on.
What was the name of that Chairman we used to have? Had a son who knew loads about football. If memory serves – neither was especially popular.
Still – that’s just History now. Can’t bring either name to mind.1 user thanked author for this post.
Well, that ain’t gonna happen.
You were almost right, though – it’s actually me who needs the Spanish sunshine.1 user thanked author for this post.
Need ‘a pre-season friendly’ against decent opposition.
Based on a lowly non-league record, Bill?
The guy probably has the nous to make it work – but there were few things to applaud last night.
Big CF looked better than Nuttall.
LB was patchy.
To be fair, that match would surely have been a draw against a good side with Rory between the sticks.Talked to a statistician last night.
To stay up we probably need 50 points. Possibly a few less.
Draws will be the killer.
Win 9 – lose 8 would be perfectly fine. Win 8, draw 3 – we can only afford 6 defeats
With what is presumably a strengthened squad + recent form, he was prepared to suggest that our chances of survival might be one in three to an optimist.Surely, for the first two games he will lean heavily on Nelson.
(Well. I think it’s around 16 midfielders he has to choose from.)Dean has said that he puts his wife and kids ahead of The Iron.
What sort of attitude is this?5 users thanked author for this post.
Gentle irony.
We don’t know if any have release clauses in case we go down.
Some may effectively be on a 4 month trial.
GK?DG had awesome pace but seldom attempted to use it. Cleveland had awesome pace and did use it.

Recently bought two cremations – (Hopefully not to be used all that soon.)
Talk about ‘hoops’ – it took 6 weeks of pratting around to complete. Seems that I may be suspected of money laundering.
How little they know about the state of my finances! Sigh. One formidable problem.
What about the guys in the side who have been playing really well?
Are they to be dropped?1 user thanked author for this post.
