If Simon Elliott has confirmed that the money is indeed available – then the decision not to use it to be screwed does make sense.
Two possible possibilities:
1) Negotiating tactic to cut the price or
2) Negotiating tactic to get the ‘dangerous ransom strips’ issue legally covered
so future disaster is averted.

I still have to wonder if Hilton now feels himself in a considerably stronger position for renegotiation with the discovery of the so-called ‘ransom strips’.
Is it his intention to use this as leverage? – Is it all a ploy for us to remain at GP?
This is PS – after all, it wouldn’t be fair to kick a man when he’s down. Would it?
All speculation however, at least until we manage to locate these ‘ransom’ beasties and understand just what they might mean.

As a matter of scale, SUFC is a much bigger project than Ilkeston.
There is no doubt that Hilton did a noteworthy job there. So many of their fans speak about him in bated breath.

Where does our ‘promise of a safe future for 999 years fit in?’
Did that survive the change of chairman in any fashion?

It’s probably a restatement of the obvious but there is a natural and profound distrust of football club chairmen amongst Iron supporters. I wonder why?
Over the years I could have named eight or nine proper wrong uns across the EFL – and a number more who were arguably dodgy.
Percentage wise, we are not really talking about a large figure. Under 5% of the total, I’d guess.
Trust our luck!
On the principle of once bitten twice shy, you can wholly understand the suspicions but once things do start going right – let’s please be fulsome in our praises. We do not want a chairman who starts to feel peed off when he’s truly doing his level best for us.
Once we reach the point when a decent chairman starts to feel persecuted we can soon be back on the slippery slope when we perhaps didn’t need to be.
The first step is not to criticise based on guesswork.

Do we know what relationship exists between Hilton and PS?
It is not too much of a longshot to believe that a rather different deal may have been struck.
Only time will tell but what if PS has agreed for our continued use of GP until a putative new stadium is ready for action?
Quis bono?
There would surely be a considerable financial benefit to PS by him being totally freed to use the GP land for his own purposes – perhaps 18 months down the line.
I dunno. But it’s a scenario to be considered.

I haven’t forgotten the plenty who came on here echoing the magic words, “The club is showing no ambition” when PS didn’t spend even more.

Twice went to away games at Barnsley after he’d left us – consecutive seasons, I think – and he tore us to shreds!

When he played for us, he used to lean so far forwards over the ball, I actually thought he was doing impersonations of some guy from Notre Dame.

Throughout my working life I saw SO many mission statements. Sigh.
Trite, misleading, mealy-mouthed mantras, restrictive, inaccurate, false and often trying to impress with words rather than deeds. Some that made sense – but always in the minority.
Many churches now have them too – cheesy, for the most part.

I’d assume that Richards-Everton will be in demand and has zero desire to play NLN football. Where can we get a couple of CBs as good, I wonder?
Moore-Bilham? – I’d thought that there was a player in there.
As for Mason – my feelings are distinctly mixed.

I don’t entirely agree, SS. I saw the game last night.
It was clear that they were both a long way better than what we have been – and that was the case with at least 20 more in the NL.
I thought that, in general, there was little to choose between NL and League 2 – excepting the top 8 or so.

And in trying to change that toxicity, the Chairman deserves total support from us. Bickering – until we have summat to bicker about – should be banned.
