A year or two back, I got into several arguments on here about extreme low marking of refs.
Where 6 is average – there were people giving 2/10s for refs having made a handful of mistakes across a match.
Sorry. I don’t usually say “I wuz right” but today truly proved the point.
If you give a poorish ref 2/10 – what happens when you get a gentleman like we had today?
That was a ZERO performance. Nil. Nothing. Zilch.
Okay, he managed to see the penny drop – and three quarters through the game, it finally dawned on him that the Buxton players were cheating. But it was clear to blind Kenny, early in the first half, that this was the case.
For cheating – I have never met Buxton’s equal in all of the years I’ve watched football.
The incompetence displayed in how the ref ended the game may never again be matched in the entire future history of the noble sport of football.

Isn’t ‘the fortnight’ now up for Roberts and Clunan?
    Not back in full training?

One of the first names on the team sheet, for sure.
Indeed. He will surely start by covering Scales, MKI.

Having bought the Scarborough game on TV last Monday, I was seriously dischuffed that, again, there was no commentary!

Cool, tough, intelligent – a good sense of how to make space. Brought other forwards into the game.
My first reaction was that his arrival is bad news for: Law, Sembie-Ferris and he will also cut the minutes on the pitch for Cam.
Maybe he was just having a good debut – but he looked the real deal to me.
Does his arrival perhaps mean that Roberts is not considered fit?

An adjournment means that we are still in the game.
PS makes it sound as if all is perfectly clear for the judge. If that were to be the case – expect a prompt ruling in his favour. If not …

    ‘Ogle was piss poor yesterday’.
We were trying to work out why Max and Regan seemed to be swapping roles. Ogle looked to be spending a noticeable portion of the game playing right CB. No goals were conceded when he covered that position.

    Harsh, PI.

We have 3 terrific midfielders crocked.
We may possibly yet get three points but it ain’t gonna be all that easy without Beestin, Roberts and Clunan. We’ve learned to get by without Roberts but …
I still think that Kelly may be the man to fill in.
Have we totally given up on Rance? Didn’t see his name down amongst the injured.

Somebody told me that commentaries have been done on mobile phones!
Been there. Done that. The quality is horrendous!
If true – my apologies to the commentators. It is not necessarily their fault.

I have long complained that Beestin’s excellence was only ever seen in patches.
This season he is a considerably better player who gives full measure. He now makes a genuine difference.
Butterfield had a decent game and Fin certainly put a solid shift in but the ‘midfield magic’ we have been seeing was absent.
Thought that Denton playing wide and up front didn’t quite work – same applied to Ferris. That may just have been because of the way the CA defence was organised
Good move by JD to abandon the experiment but felt sorry for Kelly who had generally played well.
Just a random thought, could he cover the Beestin role?

    It was arguable.
The fans near me were joking about the game being abandoned as a get-out.
I once saw a game we won away at Carlisle with worse conditions underfoot. Water was bad but we controlled the ball astonishingly well.
The hail wasn’t going to take an eye out.
The best argument for cancellation was that there was lightning around and about. Now that can be dangerous – but there wasn’t all that much.
The ref was an almost complete bleep bleep! (We gave him 4/10.)
He loved his whistle and was totally annoying.
The one and only thing in his favour was that the result was not down to him.

    Quite.
CA played okay. They were a tidy side but I can only recall a single chance on our goal – that was the real sickener.
There was a spell of 90 seconds in the first half where we made three chances; we hit the bar near the end; there were a fair number of shots on target and their GK proved competent. A few near misses – one from Evans. But you just knew that our superiority was not going to bear fruit.
The two CMs being out was clearly the main reason we lost.

Let us assume that the Normanby Rd project goes ahead – and within the time frame available.
With the best will in the world, talks of £30million being spent seem rather improbable.
We have no idea how brilliant it will look – or otherwise.
So many football grounds in the NLN have one proper stand and a little bit of cover.
If you can play football on it and it has empty terracing on which fans can stand – you have a stadium.
Add one seated area and you match many NLN sides. Add to that one an area of covered standing and you will be similar to the poorer NL grounds.
In all 3 situations – football is still possible.
    Portakabins in the short term?
Carparking is a different matter, of course.
My preference is to stay at GP if at all possible.

Ollie was poor and Russ sounded as if he was trying to eat his mic.
Ollie must remember that he is the ‘eyes’ of the listener.
Events don’t happen suddenly. There is always a build up to everything that occurs.
I’ve heard him commentate a great deal better than today.
