Forgive me for a little negativity, WG, but the longer this goes on the more likely it is that it will end up being yet another empty promise (in a very long line of empty promises). I’d love to share your optimism, but can’t I’m afraid (I truly hope I’m wrong this time, I really do). I just cannot see £15 million just being given away, which in effect is what would have to happen if we were to get ownership of the ground back.
And I cannot see any consortium stumping up that sort of cash, which means that even if we get new owners they will likely be paying rent to a landlord who could cash in on the ground asset at any time and so kill the club.
There is also a mortgage to repay on top of that in addition.
I am not confident of a secure outcome at all…..but as I say, I hope I am proved wrong.2 users thanked author for this post.
Perhaps we used our parachute money to bring in Butterfield. He MUST be on a fair whack.
Not really a glowing tribute from Lee was it?

Oldham? The only pre season game they have won was v Radcliffe 2-1. Lost to Fylde yesterday.
More questions than answers though now……
I’ve just been told the announcement as we all thought will hopefully be next week. Neil has followed me back fairly sharpish so now can read his tweets.
You’re absolutely sure Neil is happy this being on here?
ME
Thanks for the follow Neil. You followed me but for some reason wasn’t following you !. I see the owners and directors test was passed for the prospective buyers.
You got any idea when it may be announced ?
1:08 PMNeil
Hopefully next week
1:11 PMDefinitely appears to be going through…it’s just a matter of time.
We could drop a long way yet, plenty of scope…..
Haha, agreed, but he can hardly say that publicly can he?
Well Lee said in yesterday’s update, and I quote,
“There will be more signings to come during August, which will add more depth to the squad.”
So, all is not lost as yet in terms of a striker.
Not exactly goal shy, but I might agree on the other point!
I see Chris Porter has signed for Oldham, at the ripe old age of 38. That’s the type of player we need up front, but I’m sure it’s not for the lack of trying on Keith’s part that it hasn’t happened yet.
….and Hull Reserves are playing at Cambridge.
Yes, it’s their Reserves. Hmmm.
If the loan keeper from Coventry is not coming back, (as not required or still injured), does that mean his wages can be used on another loan signing in January?
As I understand it under the embargo, we cannot contribute to loan players’ wages. However, maybe our Chairman will clear the debt to the EFL (big maybe), and if not yes you’d think the vacant spot in the 23 players permitted would be available for us to fill?
Maybe we could sign a centre half like this one?

You can add Kyle Wootton to the list.
