And that, as they say, is that.
That is why Millen has been in ahead of Mattheson in recent weeks. Schoolboy stuff

Any updates with regards incomings SST? Guess this now opens a spot for Nuttall?
One of the rare positives to take from this season and that really is saying something as NL/bottom end of L2 probably is about his level. Wish him all the best, sounds like a good move for him.

The title says it all really
Certainly no outfield ‘leaders’. You’d think Keith will give to a new recruit, although that would completely destroy what little confidence Taft has left right now (if any). It’s always a controversial call to make bearing in mind his position, however on current form the only player capable of wearing it is Watson.

Can’t question their work rate but they’re simply not good enough. We’ve all known this for a long time.
Only Watson, Hippo and Beestin who are league standard players.
Defence – the new right back got skinned time and time again. Manny solid enough I suppose, despite his limitations. Taft a total liability and shot of all confidence. Feel a bit for Mason, why is he not on set pieces?
Midfield totally non existent. Beestin still suffering. What does Perry actually do? No wingers or attacking intent.
Really felt for Burns up front (didn’t see his 2 goals as I’d turned off at that point). Balls launched up to him and chasing scraps. Pleased he got something out the game, hope that gives him a bit of confidence.

The biggest miss by some distance is Kenyon. Not with regards ability but with regards leadership. COVID? Still injured? Both??

Think you might be confusing Jed Wallace with Murray Wallace???
My observation is to unfortunately state the bleeding obvious; they’re in deep, deep trouble.

Slim pickings when it comes to analysing Loft’s goals in an Iron shirt this season. His volleyed finish in the FA Cup just edges it for me though. Absolute belter.
Looks like decent money come in for Hill. 1/10 favourite now!

Nigel shortened into 3/1. Come on Nige!
Just listened again to the RH interview. “He’s not the only applicant and I think it’s unfair on the other applicants” was an interesting choice of words IMO.
Swann must surely be desperate for this to happen. It pretty much guarantees the required extra numbers on the gates.

Not sure I’d be jumping at the opportunity if I were in his shoes either. Far too much to lose and not a lot to gain. Although if he manages to keep this side up it’d arguably be a bigger feat than the L1 title winning season.
Thought Peter was very coy when asked about Adkins and even seemed to put his foot in it at one point. I would have to listen back to it but he did seem to state that it would be unfair on “the other” applicants when asked directly if Nigel had applied.
You’d strongly suspect that Nigel has already been contacted. If by same miracle he does throw his hat into the ring then the job is surely his. Very big if though.
An absolute disgrace

April 25, 2021 at 11:03 am in reply to: At what point do we consider the manager is the problem? #205436The open criticism of players is perhaps down to naivety and inexperience.
The mishandling of contracts mid way through a season though? When will we ever learn?
April 25, 2021 at 9:17 am in reply to: At what point do we consider the manager is the problem? #205422I do feel for Cox, he’s been dealt an incredibly bad hand – and for his first role in management that isn’t particularly fair on him.
However, as with many things in life, you’ve got to work with what you’ve got – this means getting maximum performance from your staff for as long as possible before a) you’re in a position to force the crap ones out or b) the high performers may sadly jump ship on their own accord.
Whilst I don’t disagree with any of Cox’s comments in his post match interviews, and clearly he feels massively let down, I just do not see what he hopes to achieve by publicly slating his players. There’s nothing wrong in thinking that someone isn’t good enough but publicly stating these thoughts so that it’s splashed all over the internet and the newspapers is an entirely matter.
Not sure my motivation and performance would improve if my manager essentially told me that I was sh*t and would never be good enough?
We’ve seen that the team can grind out results when all pulling in the same direction, but motivation, confidence and desire to succeed seems to be at all time low.
Novak with an overhead kick by all accounts!!
