When we eventually get our ducks in a row, we must look at investing in ways GP can generate money 7 days a week. Soon it will also become a prerequisite in sustaining an EFL club.

I think that’s what Mr Swann intended to do. Let’s hope we are more successful next time.

Maybe you’ll get a reply once new staff are in post? Isn’t James currently undertaking 4 or 5 roles at once, including SLO?

Based on the lack of response, he seems to be doing 4 jobs and ignoring the SLO role?

I think that Michelle knows better than any of us. She hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, so give her your full support.

In an FA Cup game away at Pompey in 2004 – we lost 2-1.
Torps in for us – Sheringham in for them.
Torps was awesome that day – won just about every header and knocked it towards an Iron player.
Sheringham won every challenge he faced – every header straight to the FEET of a team mate.
    Some great footie.
    Sigh.

We deserved more out of that game Les.

Best away support I’ve ever seen that day. We were awesome.

He might entertain, but he should look to contribute a little more.

    His behaviour does become tedious.

As we are all aware there will be a lot of money saving next season! With that in mind thought I would look more closely at the opposition players from now on with all teams still to play again.

Today thought chorleys no7 and no33 Johnson I think look good and in no 7’s case as good as if not better then we have for a midfield player that gets forward, these players will be on half or even less then then we have now so Would be worth a punt IMO

You can’t assess the quality of a player on a single performance.

Chairwoman just been on radio said dodgy d never paid any bills.

Well knock me down with a feather , who would of thought DH could of been lying ??? again .. suppose now GP is safe and both Swan and Hilts are out the picture the folks in charge whom i might ad actually have the clubs best interests at heart may start to reveal a few more details and this DH didnt pay BOMBSHELL 555555 shock is only the first.

Hoping the next Atheltic article isnt to long away …what you say Itonironiron ??? any comment ??

I think it was glaringly obvious he didn’t pay most bills. I never once said he did. What I do know he paid is HMRC until July (left £120k debt according to hmrc statements from Sept) and wages until and including August, he obviously paid some bills otherwise how did players eat, how did phones and internet stay on, how did the grass grow, how did players get to away games on VIP busses, how did we attract the calibre of player without paying agents. If you add up what we know was paid and what I have evidence of then it’s clear he lost money. Thats all I’ve ever said, he did not make money on our club. But he clearly didn’t act correctly and was a terrible terrible chairman.
Whilst Michelle has worked wonders my concern with her is she sounds a little thick, like words are planted in her mouth and she repeats without fully understanding what she is talking about. What happens when the hand outs stop, we can’t have begging buckets at turnstiles every game it’s embarrassing. What happens when this honeymoon period ends and people are fed up with dipping into their pockets? Especially if we don’t get promoted. I know for a fact the £500k wasn’t raised by directors so she’s already lying to us. The foundation put in the majority and Jane Laws charity.
We have a stadium yes which is great news and on the face of it Michelle is a real Gem but does she have the ability to take us forward long term or is she just riding the wave that inevitably dies. I also heard a big big rumour that is starting to circulate (not from
Hilton but somebody inside the club)
This is about Rob Waltham and the real reason he miraculously found £2.5m in a few weeks. Let’s see if that has any legs. But we are still in choppy waters trust me.

People need to stop panicking, if the debt is now 800k that is easily manageable once all the urgent bills have been paid.

Once GP is back under SUFC control it will bring in more revenue through sponsorship etc to help see us through until the end of the season when a more realistic playing budget can be implemented.

£800K plus whatever GP is going to cost us. £3M+??

That’s a hefty monthly payment right there, so where does the income to cover it come from?

I am also an opinionated sod.

One point I really want to emphasise is that I have said from the outset that the Hamas attack was outrageous & I have not blamed Israel for wanting to retaliate against them.

My objection is attacking Palestinians. Yes, Hamas are embedded there, yes it is difficult to differentiate at times, but they must do so.

My last comment is back to genocide. Israel attacked Gaza knowing that the vast majority of deaths would not be Hamas members. They also attacked the road going South after they suggested that people move South to be safe – again guaranteeing that civilians would die. Today they tracked the border region with Egypt – with the full knowledge that many people were gathering there looking to cross when/if the border was opened. Again, they know that many civilians will die.

This is not a competition (for you JI), but for the last 30 years we have seen many more Palestinian civilians being killed than Israelis.

It is all very sad, and I fear the worst is yet to come.

Nobody has suggested that Hamas are right, nor has anyone put forward their support for them. What people have said is that Palestinians & Hana’s are not the same.

I haven’t said that most on here have said Hamas are right.

It doesn’t say that though, does it?

Siderite, I think you are extremely patronising to suggest that most of us have lost sight of…….

Nobody has suggested that Hamas are right, nor has anyone put forward their support for them. What people have said is that Palestinians & Hana’s are not the same.

You can’t blame Jews for wanting their own state, but what about the Palestinians? As mentioned above, Israel were given too much political leeway before 1948. Since then they have started the war in 1967, ignored the Oslo peace accord in 1993, land grabbed an incredible amount of land and treated Palestinians as lesser beings.

Earlier, you gave a definition of genocide. Do you not think that telling 1.1M people to travel south and then bomb their escapes road, with them on it, genocide? Is today’s bombing of the border between Gaza and Egypt, where many people are gathering not genocide? Or is it only when Israeli’s are killed (in what was an outrageous attack) that your definition applies?

JustIron. Genocide is not acceptable. Whether 64 is stupid, intelligent or just a shit stirrer, the facts are that Hamas were wrong to attack Israel and the Israeli’s are wrong to attack Gaza. 1300 killed on one side & 2600 killed on the other. The vast majority of them being civilians. As I said, not acceptable.

If there is nothing to report, then they have nothing to tell us.

They will tell us when they have something to report.

    Raising £66K was impressive.

However, raising £1M is impossible, never mind £3M.

We need an investor or two (or three or four or five…) or a lottery winner!!

It was Swann who caused the issue that necessiatated Sharp having to stump up the money in the first place.

Based on your logic, it was Wharton’s fault for selling to Swann.

We could go back even further …..

Surely the Brian Laws lounge is the only appropriate name change. Our legendary ex-manager who took us from the depths of league 2 to the most envied small club in the country. We owe him some sort of honour to show our gratitude for his service. The people in power on this site will protest at this idea, this makes it more reason to go ahead with this suggestion.

Tooks us to the depths of league 2 and then up to about 6th in League 1.

I know it’s been mentioned on other social media but where are our superstar ex players? Even the chairmen of our rivals have contributed yet these two are no where to be seen, maybe it’s time the Ian Botham lounge should be renamed the Alex calvo-Garcia lounge.

How do you know who has contributed? Many people have given anonymously.

5 days left now less if you allow for postage for the trust to register their interest in purchasing the ground to the council, unless of course they’ve already done so.

If you are so knowledgeable, why have you not expressed your interest?

Let’s look back at the antics of some of his players over the last few years. There will be a helluva lot of matches to replay.

    What a plonker.
