Surely WG wasn’t talking out of his posterior (and then backtracking!!).
I’m with Ferrite.
Hill did not instil any confidence at all in the squad last season. Whilst I understand the need to introduce mew players and experiment, the approach did not look structured and there were very few positives from it.
He will need to show a lot more endeavour and consistency before I start singing his praises. Let’s hope he does.
It’s meant to have been written off from a club point of view but like a lot of Swanns rhetoric I don’t necessarily believe it and your right WG, somebody will have to pay it off it isn’t going to disappear on it’s own.
Accusing him of leaving quite a debt, when you have no idea AT ALL of what is or isn’t happening is abuse.
Come back when you know what is really happening.
Swannster has left us with quite a debt so we’ll still need to be careful.
How do you know this? How much is it? The reality is that you have no idea. Why not wait until you know what is happening before abusing someone?
Based on Keith Hills habit of bringing in players he has worked with before who know what strikers worked for him and are they looking for a club?
Does anyone have any ideas??Keith Hill doesn’t……

Swann has taken a lot of stick over the last few years, and rightly so.
That said, based on what he said tonight, he will be leaving the club in a good position financially.
Let’s hope that the deal goes through as quickly as possible and that the new owners deliver immediately.
A fresh start for all.

Just double-checked the prices versus last season – same cost for the terrace except there now seems to be a “matchday” price which is £3 more. Why?
It’s quite simple
They offer you a £3 reduction if you buy in advance. You will attend if you purchase a ticket.
If they have the same “pay on the day” price no-one will buy in advance. Then, if the weather is crap, you got hammered on Fri night, Scunny got hammered on the Wed night (very possible), or the missus wants you to go shopping, you won’t bother going.
Not really interesting unless they explain what she is taking up. What a wasted opportunity.
Keith has a plann. God help us…….
God hp us…….
What a dream. You know full well that they will be hammered if they fail at any point.
I don’t thinks so IA but Pugh might still be available.
Yes, but is Pugh available? 😉
Don’t give up your day job………………
I’m surprised that people are surprised at Hill. In all of his interviews last season he was dull, boring & uninspiring. What made you think he’d change?
There is a lot of “imagining” and “thinking” going on, but very few facts. The reality is that nobody really knows anything!!

‘Was promised to reopen several months ago, guess it’s a Scunny thing.’
Promise or intention? Seem to recall it was the latter. And how would Swanny have any influence (as you said in a previous post) on whether the non-footy side reopened again or not?
Rarely agree with awaywego, but he is correct in saying that whatever Swann says becomes a “promise” when there really is very little that he has promised.

I thought Swanny was the owner when it came to all things Scunthorpe.
Not according to UTI99. It’s the COO/CEO!
I don’t believe he ever said that.

Ah, more words put into people’s mouths.
Not at all. Read his posts (a number of them) and he clearly directs, and names Swann, the questions at our owner.
As for Swann, he can’t win. He speaks & he is a liar, he doesn’t speak & he should do so, and someone speaks on his behalf & they are being conned.
I really hope that he sells up soon, but people making assumptions, making their own interpretation of what has (or hasn’t) been said and calling.on him to respond to a post on this site, is getting tedious.
He will not divulge what is happening re a sale, and neither should he. Let’s just hope it is sooner rather than later.

He said in his post that he wanted Swann to answer his 3 questions, so it is the issue here.
Interest, consortium, tyre kickers at best.
Based on no knowledge whatsoever?
Spot on Cass and Sanfran
It is pleasing that at least two fellow respected Iron fans can both read and understand fellow posters massages without feeling the need to misquote, make up, mislead or down right spoil posts.
Or the other tactic of getting fellow posters arguing with each other whilst pouring fuel on both sides.
Or trying to take a thread in an altogether different direction.
Or creating a post which is unpopular/ controversial or both and then pinning the blame on a.n.other who questions or contributes to the debate.
O we gay aw
If you want Swann to answer your questions, then send them to him.
As you well know, he never posts on here.
Why would he sell?, he’s said the club has to fund itself through ticket sales and the relevant football authority hand outs all clubs get each year. If we succeed he will take money out the club ( I know he says he never does but who buys that FFS ). If we fail he liquidates the club, sells the land off for redevelopment and cashes in. I don’t believe he’s selling anytime soon unless it’s on his terms for a figure that would be higher then what the club’s worth, after all be has a debt of at least £12 million to pay off, you don’t write off debt you have to pay it off eventually. Just an opinion of course.
What a terrible post. Not a single fact in the whole piece.
If Swann wanted to make money he wouod never have bought a football club.
He is a dreadful Chairman, and he has made a complete mess of our Club. I really hope it is not to late to keep us in business.
However, making things up is not the way to progress. Let’s just hope that there is a buyer in the pipeline.
Gary Hooper, Billy Sharp, Andy Keogh…
5,000 fans put 3 grand each in?
We can’t get 5,000 fans to attend a match and put 25 quid each in.
Swann has ruined the Club, but let’s not make out that it was deliberate.
He wanted to be a big success. He wanted to appear in the Director’s box and have people chant his name. He wanted to be the Messiah.
Unfortunately for us, the supporters, he had no idea how to run a football club.

Swann has re mortgaged or whatever to fund his Blackpool project??? he is obviously skint he is on his uppers the offers he has supposedly had for the club he has declined why would he do this if and its a big if he really wants to sell, hes still to assure the national league that he will fund the club for the coming season he has milked the club never really been interested in what has gone on on the pitch the man is a like a leech sucking every last drop out of OUR club
Swann has been a disaster atbour Club.
However, what you are spouting is a load of rubbish.
Swann would have made a lot more money investing in almost anything else.
His problem is that he has no idea how to run a football club. Sadly, he chose our football club to find this out.
I still firmly believe that Swann had good intentions. The reality is that he did not learn from the mistakes that he was making and now he finds himself deep in the mire with no money (his business has been badly hit by covid), no support (we have all had enough) and nowhere to go.
I hope he finds a buyer soon but, rest assured, he will not let anyone know what is happening until a deal has been completed – neither should he.

Swann took over our Club when Steve Wharton sold it due to ill-health. We had a good boardroom until then with Steve Wharton, Chairman, who attended all matches both home and away, and his
heart was in Scunthorpe United as his father before him at the Old Showground. Rex Garton, Director, and club solicitor too, who came into GP restaurant daily and paid for his lunch, was totally committed and he also attended home and away matches. Brian Borrill, Keith Wagstaff, Jason Oxenforth were all Directors who were committed, loved the football and attended matches. This all changed to the detriment of SUFC when the swanns took over and the then current directors were not wanted on the board. Where we are now, out of the football league, without any sense of direction and with owners who couldn’t care less if we no longer have a Scunthorpe United FC is down to one man and his family ALONE and no other party. SHAME ON YOU THE SWANNS !!!!!!!!
We all know that Swann has devastated the Club.
Don’t you get bored posting the same rubbish all the time?
It is clear the culture is absolutely toxic and a number of players have seen it as an opportunity to take the piss.
Karacan, Cox and now Hill have all questioned the professionalism of certain players, but worryingly we are now a year on from the interview with Jem and absolutely nothing has changed!
Some of the things I have heard you wouldn’t believe and these probably only scratch the surface as to what is actually happening down there.
I also understand one of the players listed in the thread above has already gone. I don’t use the term wage thief lightly but we’ve certainly had a few of late!
Can you please provide more detailed information please Matt.
I have been shocked by Hill.
He is an experienced manager and has had success in the past.
Since he has been here it has been beyond anyone’s wildest dreams- but the wrong way. He has had no impact whatsoever and doesn’t seem to have any plans at all.
I have seen nothing to suggest that next season will be any better. Get rid.
None of us have any idea of the price Swann is asking. It would be stupid of him to make it public.
Let’s see what happens in the fullness of time. Hopefully, sooner rather than later!!
