Am as unhappy as you lot ..but will be amazed if he’s not given til New Year. By then we’ll know if its coming right with new signings and returnees. It may well be that Curzon will be uncatcheable by then ..who knows. A big and expensive gamble to change it in this next fortnight. I don’t see it happening.

Agree .. IMO the BovD will give AB til new year and he will in turn stick to his / Scoffs chosen system yet manage to scramble a few points here n there playing woefully boring football be in the top 10 places thus be here until the end of the season at which point the board will act.

NOW is the right time to act but just cant see it happening.

Not be surprised to see Curzon do a Tamworth and create gap… alas that wont really effect Scunny as will be just fighting for the last play off spot or mid table obscurity and 2k crowds.

Agree with WGs earlier post creating a director of football at this level is sheer folly and would not work, another salary the club cannot afford just get rid of AB and Scoff , pay them off lick yer wounds and carry on,this way more fans will turn up especially if a decent EXPERIENCED manager can be recruited.

Butler is an inexperienced manager who may be leaning heavily into Schofield, it makes me wonder how much this is down to Schofield.

Good point .. Scoffs appointment was rushed and solely down to AB .. looking back at his past record it isnt that great .. in fact as pointed out already other than a decent spell at Lincoln its been pretty shite.

AB did get the boot from Donny Belles i believe also was he a set piece coach at some time things didnt work out.

Last season Whitehall looked like he could be a real asset, shithousery and all. This season his attitude and performances seem to have dropped off a cliff and (a couple of goals aside) I haven’t seen him do much of use or ‘play with a smile on his face’ in months. Most recently he’s looked like he’s doing little more than playing his contract out.

I think there are a few as well as Whall who are just playing out their contracts with little endeavour

WGs you are commenting like AB has already been relieved of his duties when he hasnt and more so probably wont be anytime soon.. if he scrambles a few points and stays in the top 10 i can see him being here until the end of the season at which point attendances will be circa 2k and all the goodwill built over the last 12 months we be gone.

With regard to Whall … never really rated him and his form has dipped but you can say that for every player except Fitz n Roberts

Hill & Dean had no previous links with the club.

Laws, Adkins & Alexander all did!

    Not an exact science.

    Wilcox n Cox also

I was just listing the successful ones IFA, although you could argue Wilcox was successful up to a point. Certainly Knill and Cox struggled and Butler is currently making a complete dog’s breakfast of it.

IMO our best managers have always been motivators. Don’t think we’ve had anyone who fits that description recently.

Agree .. good call i had forgotten about Knill .. maybe best his tenure was far from memorable.

Im not sure this fascination with bringing in (or back) managers and / or players with ties to club is good or bad but it does seem to get a lot of social media time.

I was really hoping AB succeeded alas its not going well .. i do still predict AB will be here until the end of the season scrambling the way to a 7th to 10th finish at which point he will be relieved of his duties, hope im wrong as sadly he really needs to go ASAP

I have received good info from ‘an invisible person’ who has been close to the team that cliques are developing and that fallouts are plentiful.

I do not have any insider knowledge on the goings on at AAGP but got the feeling there are both “favourites” and unrest in the camp so your info may well be accurate Legs…

i only listened to the game on HR and it sounded as bad as it gets , nothing held back by Torps and the HR commentator in saying the worst game they had seen. Match stats say it all.

Then after a wait along came ABs interview which was head shakingly bad also, he actually seemed ok with the result clean sheet (yawn) and performance and admitted to set up to nullify Alfreton.

IMO its time for AB to go but it wont happen unless we carry on playing crap falling down the table by which time this season can be written off.

Lots of very frustrated long standing loyal fans on SM platforms slating AB , his chosen setup, tactics and the player effort …. so expect attendances to plummet.

Its tight at the top and no game for 2 weeks so all those around us playing games in hand can leap frog us , so probably around 6thor7th come Marine away.

VERY DOUBTFUL BUT IF it does happen .. who do you think / want to take over ..im hoping the club move away from employing ex players and anyone anyone with ties to SUFC this seemingly favoured policy has to change.

Roberts injured, no Charlton and the excellent Brogan only on bench … new lad Harris in i thought maybe Williams would come in for Roberts who will be a big miss.

The only person who will get Mr Butler sacked is Mr Butler.

In the prediction league I usually go for a win with the odd draw. Let us hope we want to win as opposed to stopping them from winning.

As ever i wish AB and the team all the best but i picked up on his comment 1 min into the vid on the club website in which he said we focus first and foremost on stopping their (Alfreton) threat .. now surely being at home we should be set up to attack and play on the front foot and impose our game on them not being negative and focus on stopping them ..lets make them sing to our tune at AAGP not vice versa.

This negative approach could well be ABs down fall if things go badly in the coming games .. IMO this has got an away win written all over it hence my 2-1 loss prediction.

Its very very tight at the top and we could well be in the play off places or worse before Xmas with teams around us with games in hand so this Saturday is a massive fixture .. in fact a must win so im crossing everything including my ears hoping im wrong and its a home win

By contrast to the previously posted excellent 24 min Leamington highlights vid here is the 2 min offering on the SUFC website .. i dont know does these vids etc but the gulf in these 2 is huge and a simple question why dont Scunny do the same as the likes of Leamington Guiseley etc ?

Just a question points in the bag are more important but be great for fans overseas or who cant attend games who rely on HR commentaries or the odd streamed match which ive tried n wasnt great.

Excellent result in terrible weather conditions especially first half .. seems the wind subsided second half and i thought thats sods law!.. very pleasing to see the different formation Brogan starting and he had a very good game.

MOTM Cal Roberts but very worryingly came off holding his hamstring hoping its nowt serious he would be a massive loss if hes laid up again though Williams could come in and Charlton looking sharper .. imo as soon as Charlton scores he will get a few fairly rapid at the mo its just getting that first league goal seems the problem.

Hopefully more of the same at Darlo if the weather doesnt win.

Crazy to be top after such a poor run of form ..

I may be totally off the mark but IMO there is some thing not quite right about the once bullet proof LT and his subsequent termination regardless what was said in the interview.
Initially thought it was purely a fiscal money saving sacking but maybe not so much that but the other reasons Michelle did not allude to , possibly a tad too big for his boots who knows?? … lets face it if he was being paid a bonus on his recruitment success he would owe the club money its been that piss poor in recent times.

Im sure more will come out in the coming months.

    Fitzsimons
    Barrows Maxi Boyce Kelly
    Roberts Brogan Beestin Carlton
Whitehall Beck (up to Williams to displace Beestin, Whitehall or Beck)
Would do for me, still plenty for a decent bench as well.

I really like that 442 line up Cass …but cant see AB leaving Clunan out

Apologies if i have caused a stir of optimism getting this thread reignited … no more new news alas on the signings front .. leads me to think the current well below par performances and negativity surrounding the manager and his tactics will have put paid to anymore signings for the near future, surely the board must be regretting the contract extension now and after Williams and Beck arriving they with hold back with anymore funds for AB in the unlikely event he gets the LT treatment and has to be terminated.

Regardless who it is the BovD, Schof or senior players surely some one should be pulling AB to one side and advising a change of direction before its too late…the ice is getting thinner by the game.

If he wants to get the best out of Beck then play him up top with Whitehall when fit and a couple of wingers

Going by what Butler said pre and post match, it will be Whitehall and Beck up front in the same formation. If Butler was going to change it and go with Roberts and Carlton out wide, he would have done it Yesterday.

Yesterday was the perfect time to try something new, but seems he has no intention of changing it up. Only way he’ll change it up is if pressure is put on him to change formation from higher up, but apart from that scenario coming about, I can’t see him deviating from this formation.

Sadly i think you are right WGs ..AB showing zero inclination to even try a new formation. Schoff as his experienced right hand man surely should be advising to change as its so obviously not working, maybe even a player should have a word ? saying that too many out of contract this season and will be gone (im guessing at least 5 or 6 when promotion hasnt happened) way things are going end up nearer the relegation zone than play offs.

Rainy season is over , lovely cool foggy mornings so had a couple of days away in the mountains .. no phone no contact with my normal working life so imagine my surprise .. to read LT has been sacked.

Without picking through the finer details my take on it is…..
    IMO
No doubting with LT love and passion for the club.
In recent years hes probably got a little full of his self importance so when the new CEO came in whose job it is to operate the company as fiscally as possible it would appear LT was first on the list and there may be more ??
LT signings record has been piss poor and he has been stealing a wage for too long so i guess i agree with him getting the boot …

It could have been worded a tad better but hey ho.

ALSO WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT OF A NEW FORWARD ATTACK MINDED PLAYER .. ????

Plenty for the new CEO to get his teeth into …

As we fall away down the league ABs apparent mule mentality re his chosen formation which clearly is NOT working will come back to haunt him and possibly cost him his job, im predicting he will at least get the whole season but what was good enough for JD surely must be for AB..the recent contract extension does some what cloud the issue and has turned out to be a huge mistake.

Play offs may seem him hang on but im going for 7th to 10th place finish at best which will be a testing decision for the shot callers

Very interested to see who the new player is and his route to end up at AAGP, whose pick was he ?.. supposedly announced tomorrow if it happens.
