Tend to agree IFA, we’re stuck with the current incumbent until the seasons end now. We’ve had opportunities to part ways after some dire performances, but it’s clear the board are going to ride or die with Butler until the summer, most likely to avoid a pay off. Michelle has mentioned on more than one occasion, ‘clauses in the contract that protect the club’. With the clear objective given to Butler that promotion is a must, presumably if we fail to achieve promotion we will be able to get rid without having to pay him up for year 2. The price of that though is another year in the dreaded NLN.
It’s a post-Christmas miracle we are still within touching distance of top, but the standard of football we’ve seen this season and the lack of any consistency, we’de be low hanging fruit in NL. I intermittently flicked over to a handful of NL games whilst watching our Boxing Day game and we are not even close to being able to compete at the level above under Butlers guiding hand, with our best players set to depart in the summer and a recruitment strategy that Stevie Wonder could markedly improve. If pigs do indeed fly and we get promoted we would just be another Boston in NL next year.
Nice to see you back posting 414 hope you a had a safe n happy New Year ..
I reckon your first paragraph holds some water re the club having something in the contract clause to off load AB n Scoff at a certain point ..seasons end either after playoffs or before if we finish lower than 7th.
Im still predicting no way automatic promotion with such inconsistent form but a 7th finish may see us squeak into the playoffs…( more likely 8th 9th 10th IMO )
Its all very tight and lots of other teams in the mix with no run away team like Tamworth .. beware the likes of Darlo , Buxton etc nickin a playoff spot.1 user thanked author for this post.
I am proud that the Thai League has high standards at the ASEAN level.
It is very difficult to have a football team here that can survive on its own.
If it weren’t for a businessman who loves football very much like Mr. Wirachat Sathitraipop, owner of the Krung Thonburi FC team that has now disbanded.
Most of them are local influential people, who are often local politicians, as owners.
But personally, I think Scunthorpe could easily be in the Thai League if you look at the quality of the team.
But as they say, the club’s finances determine its success.
There are many football fans who are crazy about football, but there are not many fans who can afford to pay for the tickets. There are not many who can expect sponsors in Thailand.
The money from the team owner is the most important. The Standard of Thai football is has improved massively and still is evolving.. in my younger days i used to watch Chonburi FC who at the time were the front runners that mantle has passed to Buriram United but there are quite a few others of similar stature now.
NB Pitchaya FC have a hard core of 1500 fans and did get 3000 for the Buriram fixture , very passionate and a nice atmosphere saying that very different to attending an EPL game. but as you say even at 80 – 200 bt to get in (2 to 5 quid) its out the reach of many especially for clubs outside of Bkk.
The clubs do have sponsors but in the main totally controlled by the owner.
Me and my son attend as many games as poss here but must admit to missing watching Scunny whatever league they are in as they are and always will be my only team.

IMO regardless of results AB n his wingman Scoff wont be going anywhere this season so automatic promotion is almost certainly out the window ..playoffs a distinct possibility but whilst going up via that route could turn out to be nasty after the dust settles and in a NL relegation fight ala Boston.
KLT was a freak performance , been crap for months yet managed some how to stay in touch at the top and nothing will change whilst we are there or there abouts.Lack of activity in the transfer market more so loan players is strange when apparently there is money there if needed yet i agree with AWG there is money to employ another back room staff member who we could get through this season without as managed so far.
the club could well find its self in a right pickle come the end of season .. in NLN , change manager and a raft of players out the door including Roberts who by the way was absolutely average at RO.
Im sure Dec Howe would have put away a couple of those chances eh Rene ?? .. in fact having watched it i could of scored the Beck miss (great meme vid on the SUFC official FB page)
Not easy being a Scunny fan but we soldier on regardless.

They’re both useless. How can we lose to the bottom team when we put on a brilliant performance against KL????
Been bang average for months .. IMO KLT was a freak performance and normal service has been resumed ..
2 weeks to bring a right back in and we prioritize a catering and events manager instead.
At least we seem to have money to throw around.
Maybe find a hospitality n Events manager who can also play RB … onnee kiddin but it is a bit annoying prioritizing this over playing staff… couldnt a HnEM wait until next season as seem have muddled through with that part of the club for a while.
Ozzie guy is ‘doing my head in’ already.
Yes an Aussie should not be allowed to commentate making my ears bleed … its awful listening.

Very attacking line up .. Roberts Whall Williams and Ubo looking tasty .. strong bench , i would have had out of favour Brogan on bench instead of Nicolson as more versatile.
Kelly LB Scales RB
He also said he could use Kelly, Scales or Brogan there. (Didn’t mention Beck though!) But, I agree, we need a genuine RB.
Denton may not be fit if so could see Kelly LB Scales RB .. looking at early pitch inspections quite a few getting postd including some on plastic
Dont know the life span of a plastic pitch but could be an option for the next 5 years as realistically thats how long i predict to get back to the EFL.. at which point go back to grass.
For what ever reason the current AAGP ” allotment ” is a disgrace.
Back off my NY hols and sadly it also back to the grindstone from Monday but just time to slip in a TPL game this evening before off to the metropolis.. on happy note coldest weather temps for 40 years in Bangkok overnight lows of 15 degrees..up North been under 10 so my SUFC beannie was out on parade
Chinese NY coming up very soon its big here and then Thai NY in April even bigger obviously.
I hope all Bru members had a happy and safe New Year
On topic RE our new CEO .. seems a tad illusive as noted he was at the away game at Pboro with Roj and he did the QnA home against KLT .. i was hoping for more updates from him and as yet not sure what he is actually bringing to the table.
Where is the club heading, a vision for the future perhaps ?
Money for players
Events at AAGPNot a peep …its all quiet on the IRON front.

Saddened but not surprised , maybe SUFC wanted it called off as the pitch is in such a state ??
Interesting observation about politicians IFA.
There are two sorts of people in life.
Those that shout a lot and make people think they are doing something.
Those that quietly do the work and get on with things, without shouting about it.
Politicians fall into both categories and there are some very good ones, the quiet ones tend to achieve more and are respected for their desire to achieve and do as apposed to collecting “brownie points”.
Not really i just take politicians as i see them ..yes there are good bad honest and bent also the UK current incumbents are a shower of sh8te.
Its my choice whilst i shall continue my subscription and follow Gareths excellent ironarmy channel i absolutely will not watch another ironhour podcast whilst Max Bellend in involved as not only is he a clever , arrogant self righteous political prick but also ginger.. my choice.
That Sponsorship should read Scunthorpe United Fans. That’s where I presume the money has come from
It seems to me all this is about one man’s ego !
I thought the money raised was just given to Scunthorpe ?
By doing this he has actually stopped a third party possibly coming in and sponsoring which would have brought even more money into the Club.Yes add this player sponsorship to the kids party and away travel perks for pals and its starting to wiff a bit.

All this nonsense must be being carried out on Twitter / X as ive not seem owt on other SM platforms (i dont do X), i notice Stu Maw ( trading as Susan Maw ) has removed all posts on FB etc so i wonder if the auctions n footy cards have ceased full stop or just for the period the Maw Mafia previously mentioned, i am still expecting to see some old grannies false teeth being sold off to the highest bidder.
Quite possibly the screen shots of nipples and nudies have sent Stu into the dense undergrowth of Winterton.
Must admit ive had my fill of all the unity fundraising begging bowl marlarky time to call it a day IMO AND LET IT BE DONE OFFICIALLY BY THE CLUB… all a bit sad really and reflects poorly not on those involved but the club and its fan base in general.2 users thanked author for this post.
if its on
A must stiffer test than KLT
prediction 1-1
Att 4,2224165 inc 195 KL … im guessing that is better than expected being NYE and a work day for many.

Oh dear this is turning nasty .. alas only as predicted a few posts back that Maw Mafia was and still is digging a deeper hole for himself and is filling up with more sh8t as the clock ticks.
For what its worth IMO Stuart would be wise to take his foot off his unity fundraising crusade gas pedal for a while after all the New Years honours list is gone for this calendar year.. Gareth and Sadiq (shocking choices) beat him and Becks to the round table gravy bowl. The ” fantastic” Maw YT videos dont help his cause and smack of chest puffing especially those during the brief but painful Hilton era.
I am a member of the SOFCOSC but wont be joining the unity group or donating as i just dont agree with not knowing where the funds will be allocated and kids parties and subsidizing away travel arent on my happy to help list.

IMO all Beck , Ubou and Williams need a goal to get them going .. hope Charlton has turned a corner re injuries and getting MOTM from the Iron bar will give him a boost.
Having watched a few highlights from both Iron fans and joe bloggs just attending for YT content it does seem like it was an excellent performance so lets hope AB sticks to playing players in their correct positions and with attacking intent ..ie wingers.
Brackley gonna be a harder test than KLT they are in form and as predicted gonna be in the mix come the seasons end.

No Brogan in squad again!
Prob been scouted n off in Jan ?? STRANGE HES LEFT OUT AGAIN
No loss IMO, Harris brought little or nothing to the team. Won’t be hard to replace from within.
Agree hasnt really done a lot except a few near misses and they count for nowt.. Fish has aknee injury and out for a while so SPT activated the recall.
I live in hope there will be 1 or 2 loan players coming in or even a perm signing but doubt it , in the past Scunny have used the loan market regularly but not lately , i think Connor Smith was the last and he was abig success .. another similar would be great.
KLT apparently have a really potent strike force and the team is heavy on loanees from higher leagues so need to be on our game.

Woke up this chilly wintry morning (14 degrees) and had not only a NYE dump but also a premonition so revised my KLT prediction
Sadly to a 3-1 loss
£550 out the fund for the kids party.
I have had a few goes on the football cards thinking the money was going to the club, not to fund a Christmas bash?
Im sorry but that stinksYes tend to agree .. call me a grumpy old man but IMO an Xmas kids party should not be high on the list of things to spend any money raised on and more so lower down the list being used for away travel purposes.
Going on the latest Stu Maw vid the new unity group are planning more events which may effect not only the fundraising giving mindset but some fans goodwill in general. Are the Maw Mafia (joke – by no means meant in slander or defamation) digging a hole for not only themselves but others involved ???
Hull fan here reckons they will be playing L1 footy next year … deep pockets required owning a football club nowadays.
Agree with ironking be nice to have some clarity re the supporters club current situation in relation to the new unity group
i find myself drifting away from the SUFC FFBP nowadays ,there are some really nice people on there as well as the obligatory odd balls and i contribute to chat about and express views on football and my goings on at my beloved SUFC alas its more like an online car boot sale with a bit of footy thrown in.
That said i applaud Stu n Sue Maw for all they have done and continue to do for the club surely there will come a time when enough is enough as its all a tad OTT at times.IMO fans have shown a huge amount of goodwill over the past 12 months and if the begging bowl mentality carries on it smacks of piss taking rather than charity.
If we can/could/might get two or three improvement players in in January – what’d you like to see.
Twood be great to get a couple of new players in but i just cant see or expect it to happen , im sure the BovD will try to see the season out with what we currently have …depending on any departures obviously.
Very strange only having one team can’t think of any footy fans at work that didn’t have at least 2 clubs, same with Skellys van everyone seemed to have another club Skelly himself is City through and through, not even Celtic or Rangers IFA.
Back in those heady mad van days i only supported Scunny .. admitting a soft spot for West Ham but would not ever say i was a fan unlike Scunny.
Nearest I get to my live games is 40kms away by watching Nong Bua Pitchaya in the Thai PL which is about the same standard as L2 NL NLN in Blighty … Abo Eisa still playing there and he was shocked to see a Utilita Scunny shirt saying hello to him.
2 users thanked author for this post.
Only ever had and ever will have one team and thats Scunny i dont give a fig about any others though must admit i do like to see the Cods get battered (does this make me a bad person?)
Att 3900
All depends on how AB selects n sets up for this massive game, we have been dire at home and that needs to change
Head says 2-0 KLT
Heart says 2-0 ScunnySo im on the fence and going for 1-1
Maybe I was watching a different stream on DAZN. For me, the match lacked any real quality..it was rare to see either team put more than 3 passes together without losing it. On balance of play, I would say a draw would have been a fare result.
Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful that we got the much needed 3 points, but if we truly believe that scraping a 1-0 win through a deflected shot against a lower mid-table National League North team is a good performance, then we have really fallen far!
At last a bit of reality .. PS away was aslightly better performance against a mediocre NLN side and nothing to get giddy over IMO .. alas some fans are seeing it as acsecond coming baby Jesus style …all we are missing is the 3 wise men , gold frankenstien and mryh.
Lets see what KLT at home brings .. hope AB sticks to the more adventurous line up n style.
