I don’t think people want Butler to fail, if he fails Scunthorpe fail. People are frustrated that problems are manifest within the squad and formation and we need to do something about it.
I still back him to get us out of this league but you can see he needs to strengthen and he needs to be less wedded to something when it’s clearly not working. If he can’t see those then we may have a problem.

I don’t think we can afford him. Would be ideal but it won’t happen.

If we win the league by a point because of a home draw surely we would’ve won it by 3 with a win? How far we’ve fallen

Didn’t go or pay any heed to today’s game, what happened??
Did we miss an attacking edge?

Targeting a draw a Chester looks strange now given their position, this league changes very quickly in terms of challengers, so close at times. I would say the only consistent of the last two years in this hell hole has been us (maybe also Chorley)

Good performance (missed it as well!), key is consistency now, need to start picking up away from home, understand we were unlucky at Southport. Hopefully Butler has looked at the stats in terms of trying to settle on a one goal lead and we’re now putting teams away at home, picking up wins away (like KL coming from one down) will be the key in the title race.

Let’s concentrate on the league because that’s working out great.

Butler can easily be better than Dean, he just needs to start acting like a manager and try and change things before and in game. It sometimes feels like managing by numbers (or that stupid XL spreadsheet) changes always seems a bit samey. Try 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1, 4-4-2 something different because we’re too easy to read and counter. He needs to start using his brains a bit because a third year in this regional shit show doesn’t need thinking about. Oh and get some bloody loan players in!!!!!

I fear this is Butler style and he doesn’t have the nous to change it. Of the players who concern me the most they are defensive types but in terms of attacking options we need to dip into the loan market to have a player that can change/effect the game. Rushall papered over the cracks – they were really poor. When we meet a half decent team (for this league which is utter shite) then we struggle. Not calling for a change in management but am calling for a change from the management

All round good performance, Nicholson is a worry he needs to improve a lot, Barrows also needs to crispen up his passing. Let’s be fair Rushall were very poor and held off and gave us some space but you would take that level of excitement moving forward

I wanted Butler in when it was clear Dean had no plan B, and barely a plan A. I still think he is the man to take us up however he has to adapt, it’s not hard to look at different, more entertaining formations. Setting up not to lose is going to drain attendances and that will drain significant funds out of the club. Many are starting to pick games rather than attend all the time.

One win in seven, they need to start putting a string of performances together because aside from a home cup tie against weak opposition we have been pretty average. Two big games coming up as it’s getting very congested at the top. Can we unleash the shackles with 7 defensive players on the pitch though?

Key is the loan market, potential contribution from parent club and no long term liability with a contract. It has to be right though. Dean had many players who he instantly disliked or didn’t know how to employ productively, but he was thick as mince. Butler had league experience and hopefully connections.
Get some attacking loan players in and we might not need too many additions on contract. The standard in this league is utter dross so it shouldn’t take much to find a good contributor

On the south bank of the river there was a row of Port tasting shops, have the Port with the cod cake.

Good idea, I did the Porto tour just recently £15 with museum and ground tour, museum was amazing and the tour of the stadium sitting in Presidents box, and the manager dugout, chance for picture with Champions League/Europa League trophy. Scunny could do similar, just swap out CL for Lincolnshire Cup,

As ever would love a win but I feel the players are getting demotivated in the system 2-0 to Chester.

Agree, he must have strengths so play to them! It’s not hard that we should do this but midfield enforcer is probably polar opposite of his ability (not saying anybody is suggesting this role is his but we need one and quick)

There was a time last season where we really missed his presence. Problem now is that he has no presence to speak of. Whether that is the formation or his general all round play diminishing is the question. The formation nullifies most of the players (and scarily Butler cannot move on from the logic facing him) but I do agree that he plays safe nearly all of time and is very weak in the centre of the pitch. Dispossessed far too easily, contributes nothing as a goal threat.

We do need a refresh of the squad and I would hope that Turnbull still had contacts. We won’t sign anybody (and probably shouldn’t until that 10% is cleared) but we should be after some attacking loan players. It’s all a bit stale at the minute and the subs we have are next to useless, certainly don’t do anything to impact a game in any positive way – but how many times have we seen frustration with the players when it’s the formation that makes them ineffective. I reckon crowds could drop by over 20% if we continue with this rubbish.

A tail off in crowds will be incoming, you can sponsor the shit out of anything but in the end if your product is akin to Ratners you’re going to struggle.

Butler needs to learn and learn quick because missing on promotion is unthinkable.

If they didn’t think we needed stengthening before then hopefully this is a wake up call.
Conceding last minute to Oxford City at home is just not acceptable, poor management, wedded to a formation that history shows is hard
for the players and produces poor football

No, there are things that can be fixed, for now it’s a blip however they need to start putting in performances again otherwise the crowds will drop

Kai Corbett is exactly the type of player Butler should be after, energy aplenty, nice touch with both feet and helped out in defence many times. The fact Dean chose not to play him in those crucial games showed how utterly brainless he was.

The club said itself they need to get out of this league this season. Butler isn’t going anywhere, and not should he, but he needs to come up with alternatives and also a list of players the club need to get on loan. It been clear for years 3-5-2 is hard for the players and produces poor quality football. We cannot afford to keep rolling out a formation with 7 defensive minded players out of 10 (keeper a given). If he insists on 3-5-2 then Barrows and Denton/Kelly are not the answer

There was a time when playing Newcastle, Oxford, Peterborough meant we actually played Newcastle, Oxford, Peterborough

We need some loan players with something about them, our first reserves are really poor, not even semi-pro quality. Play whatever formation you want but if you cannot pass a ball 10 yards then it’s time to assess your employment options.
