Sanfran – it was a source online, probably linked to the Wilko family so I stated the family rather than the man. When he talks on RH he doesn’t sound like a man plenty of reserves. He sounds like he’s given up to be honest.
Les, we’re relying on crocked players to become uncrocked to the end of the season and to play to their potential with a pretty poor manager.
Cox is bad but we won’t get anybody else in at this stage now.
We’re in for a rough ride to the end of season and I fear the worst
Harrogate, Southend, Stevenage, Cods worse than us? Now tell me the scores when we played them.
Swann to my knowledge is the only one who has come out and said the only aim is to survive, coming from a family worth £300m (granted maybe a lot less now) that is some going. Not saying he should plough anymore money in but he decided to offer silly contracts, build stadiums, fall out with developers, councils, authorities, fans, players, managers,
In the same interview he said the players were exciting (still!) whilst saying we’re 20th in league two so who is going to buy them. walking contradiction.
When he took over he said the club were run like a hobby with no structure – well what do we have now? (Rodwell anybody? golf course player purchases?). Even the bad chairman knew not to just select and purchase non league no hopers without any football knowledge. Just when this club needs strong leadership we have a rookie manager out of his depth a teenage scout and a chairman who is taking the ship down (but is looking to abandon ship).
I can see nothing being done in January
Cordner and Loft were beyond abysmal today. Eisa don’t know what’s happened to him. Someone ask McAtee to name all these clubs lining up to sign him.
Bedeau Beestin Green ineffectual, Clarke really poor game. all in all really bad against a pretty poor team.
I don’t agree with Bishop – we do not have enough to survive the drop, relying on players who may be back end of February is not going to fix the shit Swann has got us into
In their defence you would need to be Noel Coward to try and make this sound interesting.
It is a truly awful game by two awful sides. I’m still wondering how Loft did not kick a football from 3
yards outStill look shit.
Stevenage game is massive because its two wins on the bounce which breeds confidence going into Bradford and Grimsby and Barrow games, so I’ll stick with my comment
Hippolyte took his chance well but positionally still all over the place and defensively very poor. An OK game but its the one in five that most of these players play well in. Need to be better more consistently.
Stevenage game is massive
McAtee was a disgrace – counted no more than 5 steps before giving up when chasing back – he really needs to take a long hard look at himself – stop believing his idiot agent and realise that his next stop will NL north at best unless he sorts his attitude out.
there’s our one good game in five. Well done.
Fairly certain the Chairman signed all of these players, as most Chairpersons do.
Although you have conveniently cut and paste the quote part way through the first point to combine it with the second the point made was that we have a lot of players not good enough and a lot of these are Swann signings
The 20 players referred to were used as an example of how much money is being wasted and what is needed to recover. Most agree that Eisa and McAtee on their day and when they can be bothered are good players however their mind is elsewhere and so we should free up space – as far as I know Eisa and maybe McAtee were Hurst proposed signings but are included in my list as are Hippolyte and Turan who may be Cox proposals but the majority of the useless ones were brought in by the Chairman, including one whose father just plays golf with Swann; the others brought in when no manager or chief scout in place so who would be selecting these other players?
I find the best way for the club to connect with fans is to at least try on the pitch.
I believe they’ve added a creche for the new chief scout
if we take out the Scunny youth who are making their way in the game that still leaves a lot of really poor quality players, unforgivably selected by the Chairman for professional contracts.
If we say the 20 players are paid on average £50k per year then we are spending £1m p.a. on playing staff who we would struggle to move on. We’d have to try and sell O’Malley for £1m to cover the cost of Swann’s folly!
I thought long about Spence it is a difficult one as he has been reliable and probably just needs a rest. I think it was based on a more forward thinking alternative, looking at a bishop or dawson type which is wishful thinking. If we added Spence into it it leaves 8 ones to keep which is still pretty bad. Looked at positively we’re only 4/5 players away from a strong team!
Howard 3 rooted to line looks more and more nervous
Clarke 5 not great
Onaraise 5 looks shot
Bedeau 5 not good enough
O Malley 6 did ok
Spence 4 becoming more and more ineffective
Beestin 4 signs contract plays shit
Gillead 4 Can’t get into games anymore
Eisa 3 embarrassing show the door in Jan
McAtee 3 see above
Jarvis 2 not a professional footballer in fact not even a part time footballerCox 3 no motivational, tactical, or management skills to work with, becoming a repetitive joke in interviews. But does his masters bidding. Suppose he should be judged on a team he has built because these players that the Prawn brought in are a mess.
We are in a relegation fight now. with a team ill equipped to get us out of trouble. Eisa is now becoming an embarrassment – should leave in January. The biggest concern is Cox who is now so far out of his depth he is losing his grip on reality. He is Swann’s mouthpiece so won’t be going anywhere which is the irony as he probably does deserve to get the boot. This doesn’t cover the fact that Swann is slowly destroying the club…..
So basically we are engaging with chancers or worse in our great quest for these exciting players – I see he has links to e-sports/e-scouting – says it all about the management and board of the club really.
There must be a link to the club somehow to keep using this agent allowing him to offload his rubbish onto us. These things are never as they seem
Agree with Les, how do we expect to engage the midfield in attacking runs when Loft cannot keep hold of the ball/win the ball/pass the ball. It takes only a second to generate midfield runs and a more able front man could do this. This would allow Beestin more goal threat and no doubt Taylor will produce what he did for PV
Swann is the worst chairman we’ve had without doubt. Nothing to do with money his family has plenty and his family have wasted a lot of money on the club. It is to do with the naive and frankly dangerous way he runs the club. Thinking he automatically has the ability to make decisions beyond his skillset because he thinks he knows about football. It was known by most fans that he runs the club this way and now more and more ex players, managers are coming out with comments reinforcing it. He came out in the media and said he had learned lessons – yet still decided which players to buy, employed his son as chief scout and having the manager release a quite ridiculous statement that it was all him – using him as a puppet and basically turning Cox into a pathetic mouthpiece for the club, eroding his standing with the fans. Swann thinks fans cannot see this – it is clear that he tries to push his own agenda for the club by now using old fans favourites at their expense.
We have without doubt seen the worst players and performances in the club’s history under Swann – the number and style of defeats have broken the wrong type of records. Worst start, highest goals conceded, worst league run, lowest number of shots….all stem from Swann and his Retford U10’s management glory days.
Swann genuinely thinks he knows how to run a football club – I don’t think he would be bothered if we went down to non league because he sees nothing going on around him, Emperor’s new clothes stuff…..
Very true, the irony of the season being cancelled after another lifeless derby day performance…….
Cox said he has to work extra time just with him. All the expert summarisers says he has to do more Cox says he has to more – he doesn’t do more he is garbage.
It is close between Hippolyte and Loft and Jarvis as the worst players ever to play for the club and there is some mighty competition in that
O’Malley is a bizzare one – if Cox watched the first half and thought the answer was Jarvis and Loft (there is never a question where the answer is those two donkeys) then presumably he wanted to get crosses in the box. O’Malley I would say is the best crosser in the club but he left the non footballer on whose contribution was to dribble the ball out into touch
Fairly certain he would’ve lost the competition to play with that shower yesterday…..
Back to his normal level. really poor, not a league footballer
we’ll be waiting for these exciting players to turn up.
Chief Scout will sort it, as long as its not a school night, bed early
Howard 5 getting more and more rooted to his line – more nervous probably worried about the defence
Clarke 4 – 3 points for the goal otherwise very very poor
Onariase 6 looking leggy and tired, not his fault
Bedeau 5 a bit all over the place, scratchy performance
Hippolyte 5 very poor positional sense when defending, better when being positive- actually tries to beat his man
Gillead 4 not his game tonight, tries hard but no end product
Spence 5 average game
Beestin 5 again quite average – when tires looks very weak on the ball
Eisa 6 needs to stop taking corners, redeemed himself with the cross for the goal
McAtee 7 star man, got involved a lot more wanted to get on the ball
Loft 3 poor once againHallam 2 does very little
Jarvis not a footballer, if playing for Sunday league then I’d give him a 3
Cox 3 Still not his fault that we have too many players not suited to professional football but he has to alter his thinking. That game, result aside, was really bad. Couldn’t string 4 passes together, front line garbage and isolated.Howard 5 gets rooted to his line too much
Rowe 5 slipped for the goal and could’ve been a bit tighter
Onariase 8 solid as ever
Bedeau 7 should’ve scored
OMalley 7 decent
Gillead 5 poor today
Eisa 4 would be nice for the other Eisa to turn up
Spence 6 gave the ball away for the goal
Beestin 6.5 played OK
McAtee 6 – thinks he’s better than he is – if he doesn’t learn when to pass for the benefit of the team nobody will buy him
Loft 4 poor control, passing, awareness, link play. If it’s just about effort 7, but its not.Subs Green 4 ineffective, Jarvis 3 a target man who can’t win or direct headers – another one of Swann’s exciting prospects who is dog turd.
Taylor 3 his shot sums up his time at the clubCox 4 half time talk worked wonders
