Thanks for that CMC. I couldn’t remember where or when it was posted so big help.
Correct hence I’m not jumping on the Stu’s a predator bandwagon. Unsavoury perhaps but not the extreme it’s being made out to be. I haven’t changed my stance particularly, unlike some. You misunderstand 64. There was no lack of evidence nor any posts deleted. To simplify:-
Back in October Deerey directed us to Stu’s X account to check out some posts in which he was defending Butler.
I pointed out that only a few post previous Stu was asking for ‘nudes’ and so on to which Deerey promptly replied that it was ‘social media nativity’.
Stu’s tweets were there for all to see, Deerey acknowledged them himself, there was no lack of evidence.
My point is that when Stu’s making all the right noises he’s ‘naive’ but now he’s criticised both the manager and the trust there’s no defending it as naivety and we’re jumping on the bandwagon that he’s a pervert.
Double standards from some is the point I’m making.I mentioned several months ago on this forum about Stu’s unsavoury appetite for much younger females and his requests for ‘nudies’. It was quickly chalked up, by our resident supermod, as ‘social media naivety’.
At that time we had been directed to Stu’s twitter account to admire his bold defending of our incompetent manager despite the wheels having come off.
So to be clear, when Stu’s blindly advocating for our manager his questionable tweets are just ‘naive’ but now he’s taken aim at the trust he’s suddenly a predator?
Hmmm…
Yeah, I thought they made a good start yesterday. Which is surprising as numerous supporters crow about Butler not making one good signing.
You say that as though it’s unjustified and our recruitment has been good (or even average) Deerey? I know you like to ooze positivity but come on, this seasons recruitment has been nothing short of abysmal and even you know it.
Let’s give the new boys a few weeks of Butlers expert ‘coaching’ and then see how they look. After all, he has a habit of snuffing out any initial promise in every one of his new recruits. Nicholson looked the business in the first few games now can’t even make the bench, Carlton scoring for fun in preseason now couldn’t hit a barn door, even Beck was the bright spark in an otherwise embarrassing showing against Rylands, now… well the less said the better.

Obvious click bait 64 but I’ll humour you. In short , No ‘the rest aren’t crap’. Clearly it’s relative to budget, resources and the clubs objectives for any given season. For some survival might be the remit so finishing 20th would be deemed a success.
In the case of SUFC; Biggest budget in the league, best facilities in the league (sandpit aside), one of only a handful of full time set ups and a clear remit of ‘promotion a must’. We are currently underachieving and if we fail to go up would that mean Butler is crap? In short Yes.

Seems like we’re back to bin dipping again after blowing the last of the budget on Beck.
Probably too much expectation on Brogan from the start, with some dreamers labelling him as a replacement for Butterfield, BUT he did show flashes of quality and was one of the more creative of the summer signings so no surprise that he doesn’t fit into Butlers hoof and hope setups.
The recruitment this season is the worst I can recall.
3 strikers signed, one loaned out (twice) and the other 2 yet to register a single goal between them – unbelievable.
3 midfielders, one made of glass and the other two have failed to get regular starts and subsequently one shipped out on loan.
A defender who, for the promise he showed in the first fistful of games, has made some howlers that would embarrass a pub player on a Sunday morning kick about and now can’t make the team.
Now we’re coming to the crunch point of the season where a strong character with some experience of what it takes to get out of this league wouldn’t go amiss, so we bring in two 18 year olds who’ve not registered a single senior start between them.
A recruitment specialist has to be a priority, but better still would be a decent manager who has an eye for a player and can do his own recruiting.

Remind me who our Sports Psychologist is… he/she ain’t listed on the staff list.
It’s Supermod, he’s doing it pro-bono so you won’t find him on the payroll.
He bigs up the players and staff on here whilst simultaneously shooting down anyone who raises any questions over their abilities, in the hope they log on to read it and pump up their confidence.
He’s a bloody genius! Let’s get him nominated for the next Nobel Prize award.

I was referring to the person iron414 said was ‘done over’ (according to 64) when the new owners took over from Hilton.
Pardon? I’m certain I’ve never said such. Show me where?
I don’t think you need to be some sort of expert to know that coaching can help players. Even if they are 31.
Coaching perhaps, Butler’s coaching probably not. Which of our players have improved under his ‘coaching’? None, they are all individually equal or worse than previous seasons and the team as a whole is markedly worse. The only ones that could be argued as improved are Fitz, who’s coached by Muzzy or Cal Robert’s, who, it’s fairly obvious, has always had stacks of ability but has been hampered by injuries.
In any case I think Rene’s sentiment is that Beck was not brought in at 31 as a development player. If we wanted a player who needed coaching in order to contribute with goals I’m sure we could have got one for free. Alas we’ve paid for ‘ready to go’ now we’re been told by the oracle of wisdom supermod, that he needs to coached first. Hopefully Michelle paid on her credit card and we can get a refund under section 75 ‘misrepresentation of goods’

If the suggestion is that Butler has the ability to mentally ‘unblock’ our strikers maybe he should have worked his magic on Carlton given he’s been ‘coached’ by Butler for the last 7 months and is still yet to register a single goal.
Perhaps you should offer your services as the club shrink seen as you’re so well versed in the subject Deerey. Michelle’s partial to a back office appointment and you seem like you could do with a new gig seen as you’ve spent all day arguing on the forum yet again. Change is as good as a rest, so they say.

Cheers and same to you IFA. It was a busy Christmas in 414 house with kids their families round and a post-NY overseas trip to see my daughter. I did pop my head in only to find majority of the conversation around Maw vs Ellis, slagging off of Iron Hour, Jerry, Earl and so on, so I quickly retreated back to my sun lounger with a cold pint. Same reason I avoid participating on the FB page.
Agree with your 7th-10th prediction, it’s extremely tight and plenty with games still in hand.Going well? Good to see you’re still easily pleased Deerey. For a lot of us it’s going to take more than a 45 minutes of good football per 20 odd games to be convinced after the utter dross we’ve seen for majority of this season.
The seven unbeaten run is a good PR spin, but not exactly the achievement it’s being hailed as:-
A 0-0 draw at home to Alfreton, one of the worst games seen by many at GP.
A 0-0 draw at home to Hereford, subpar and painfully dull.
Another 0-0 bore draw against part time Darlington.
A piss poor performance and skin of the teeth last minute 2-1 win to the league whipping boys Marine, by an arguably undeserved penalty. The reality is; there was only one acceptable performance in those 7 games. But after some of the horror shows we’ve seen this season (Rylands, Alfreton, Guisley to name but a few) the bar has been set so low that anything better than ‘utterly shite’ is now deemed an ‘improvement’ even if we’re still very poor.

18 months then, not 2 years.
If you want to split hairs it’s 20 months but it’s fairly obvious WG meant 2 seasons rather than 2 calandar years. Whenever have you heard of a player signing a 2 calandar year contract which would see his contract expire in any month other than June or January?
Thanks for helping to clarify that. Something useful from you for a change.
Very welcome. Certainly more factual than anything I’ve ever seen you post on here, despite your 24/7 presence.
As I’ve already stated, I have indeed been checking what comes out from the club and I can’t find anywhere it says Beck is on a 2 year deal. Also said maybe I missed something. Can you clarify this 414? You seem to have everything else sussed out.
Already posted the interview where you will find Butler confirm the contract length in my previous post, which in your haste to respond you’ve clearly missed.
Santa not bring you some new reading glasses for Christmas then?
Tend to agree IFA, we’re stuck with the current incumbent until the seasons end now. We’ve had opportunities to part ways after some dire performances, but it’s clear the board are going to ride or die with Butler until the summer, most likely to avoid a pay off. Michelle has mentioned on more than one occasion, ‘clauses in the contract that protect the club’. With the clear objective given to Butler that promotion is a must, presumably if we fail to achieve promotion we will be able to get rid without having to pay him up for year 2. The price of that though is another year in the dreaded NLN.
It’s a post-Christmas miracle we are still within touching distance of top, but the standard of football we’ve seen this season and the lack of any consistency, we’de be low hanging fruit in NL. I intermittently flicked over to a handful of NL games whilst watching our Boxing Day game and we are not even close to being able to compete at the level above under Butlers guiding hand, with our best players set to depart in the summer and a recruitment strategy that Stevie Wonder could markedly improve. If pigs do indeed fly and we get promoted we would just be another Boston in NL next year.
A loss to bottom of the league Rushall to kick off 2025 with a
bangwhimper. Seems the KL performance was a red herring, a la Kiddy at the seasons start, but alas normality is resumed.Had a great chance to really put a mark down following the Kings Lynn game and instead serve up one of the worst league results in our history.
Love the club but it’s hard work at times
Spot on, always one step forward followed by two back. Suppose we should be grateful for one decent half of football every half season?

:Paid a fee for Beck and he came on a 2y contract’
Is he? Had to check official club platforms because I don’t recall it being stated as 2 years. Can’t find anywhere saying it is. Permanent contract yes. Maybe I missed some detail about it?
Wondergoal has always just made crap up.It’s how he makes sense of himself,he never let’s the truth get in the way of anything
https://x.com/humbersidesport/status/1857855555961766386?s=46&t=Qv8lWfaqiDCnLnYpnf-vPQ
Confirmed in the above interview at 5m30s.
Contracted until end of 25/26 season.Don’t take it personally WG, I’m sure an apology from 64 will be imminent. Perhaps if our supermods spent more time listening to the information that comes directly from the club rather than picking fights and squabbling like teenage girls with other forum members, they might not need to unnecessarily insult those offering accurate and relevant facts.
Regarding Beck, he’s been woeful thus far, though in fairness we’ve only recently started to play a system which ‘should’ suit him. But watching the miss back from Saturday, Mrs. 414 would have put that away and she’s on a waiting list for a knee op.
Some on FB fans page suggesting he’s the worst player in SUFC history. Perhaps an exaggeration but when you consider the level, I reckon he’s up there.
Maybe Turnbull got wind the axe was about to fall in his direction and Beck on a 2 season deal was his parting gift and a big middle finger to us. Either that or Butler has got zero ability to spot a player (likely given the rest of the summer flops).
On the topic of summer recruits, Brogan didn’t make the bench yesterday, even with a midfield spot opened up by Scales covering at RB. Injured or out of favour?

I remember many being bored rigid by Jimmyball after Christmas last season.
Don’t disagree Sidey, Jan – March wasn’t great but over the course of the season was balanced by the 4 5 and 6 goal victories and largely at home we played well. If you were bored rigid by Jimmy-ball you must be a frozen corpse after watching Butler-ball.
You have to learn from history
Could you remind our useless manager of such?
It isn’t good enough. Just listened to their managers post match interview, taking the away point and clean sheet but disappointed not to win, pointing out Fitzsimons man of the match award.
Talked about being part time – says 2 of their players have been out working for Amazon delivering presents and they won’t train again as a team between now and 4th of January.Humbling to say the least. Staggering that Butler can’t get a tune out of our squad of players.
It’s unfair to judge a manager now when you consider the crap he inherited, players lost, and restraints he still has.
Crap he inherited? You mean a team that finished second, playing the best football in the league and in most other years would have won automatic promotion?
Players he lost? From regular starters he lost two; Ogle and Butterfield. Both of whom you said were easily replaced and wouldn’t be missed?
Restraints he still has? You mean (per Michelle) the biggest budget in the league?
We’ve the best keeper in league in Fitz, the best footballer in the league in Roberts, a squad of full time pros that most NLN managers look at with envy, the best facilities, the biggest fanbase and as TJO pointed out, we’re up against part time lads who are spending their days delivering for Amazon amidst the Xmas rush? Even a poor-average manager at this level could get a tune out of our squad.
Give it to Muzzy. What is there to lose, we surely can’t get much worse?
Move on FFS 64. It was a good interview Rene, he came across well, worth a listen. That said we’ve heard zero from him since and given the unrest around the club it’s time from some communication at board / director level.
Our manager will be happy with the deterioration of the pitch as it will serve as another excuse as to why we’re persisting with his only style of play; longball. Michelle said during an interview in the summer she’d negotiated a great deal to have the pitch renovated. Perhaps she drove the bargain a little too hard and so corners were cut in order to keep the job profitable.
What’s that saying again… ‘Buy cheap buy twice’.
Same quote can be applied to the management appointments and all of this seasons signings.

Turnbull’s parting gift another dud or is Butler misusing the players at his disposal again? The fact we’ve paid a transfer fee for the first time under our new board and handed a two season contract to a striker who looks a carthorse and has so far failed to score in 6 games, epitomises our recruitment strategy. Maybe the money spent on the transfer should have been used to retain one of our previous POTY’s who were already proven at our club. We should not have let Butler / Turnbull loose with the cheque book for more signings when the writing was already on the wall.
Some concerning mumblings yesterday about us having agreed a fee for Cal Robert’s to move to a league club in Jan. Is ‘illness’ a ruse to ensure he didn’t pick up an injury which would derail said transfer? I share your view IFA , If he is to go and we pocket a transfer fee I sincerely hope Butler isn’t given those funds to bring in more flops. Any surplus cash would be much better utilised addressing the crux of the problem and the single most important member of the team. The manager!
No they were utter shite and so his Beck.
You would not put money on a donkey over a racehorse at Aintree, so why defend players who are simply not good enough.Check his record, he can play and he can score. The problem is that him and Butler play different games. Beck can’t change his, Butler can.
Can but won’t
So where do you apportion blame, and what are your suggestions for forward development fans 64 ??
If you’re asking 64 he will probably blame The Smoking Goat and his burgers for our woes.
There not shouting loud enough yet cos its fell on deaf ears from Butlers interview, he sees the last 5 games as progression..
Nobody is taken in by the delusional post match interviews (aside from perhaps the board given Butler is still clinging onto the job). His attempts to rewrite history by describing a game entirely different to what we’ve just watched is cringeworthy. Does he really think he can gloss over how shit we played by spoon feeding us a few cherry picked stats and sound bites about hard fought points and tough opposition? It’s the same bull week in week out and most of us are now sick to death of it.
Pains me to say but the cods manager Artell spoke just before Butler on Humberside and the stark contrast in their interviews was humbling. He provided what sounded like an honest and accurate assessment, accepting they were rubbish but spoke professionally and sounded like a proper coach. Butler in comparison sounded like a pissed up, rose-tinted spectacle adorning fan, who should have been speaking on Gareth’s reaction vlog with a pint in hand, rather than live on Humberside.

Dire game of football as has come to be the norm at GP on a Saturday afternoon. The fact that the only positive is a marginal improvement on Alfreton, described by many as the worst game of football ever seen at GP, says it all. As always; hoofball, square pegs round holes (Whitehall as a 10 I ask you?), zero creativity, looking devoid of ideas and Fitz MOM saving us from blushes yet again.
Not sure on the accuracy of the attendance figure reported. Lots of empty seats and little atmosphere. Are season tickets counted even if the holders don’t turn up?
Butler’s ‘we’re not the finished article’ line is worn out. He’s had a full preseason, two cups and were half way through the league games so when do we expect to see the ‘finished article’? The last game of the season when we’re floating around mid table perhaps? We’ve taken a giant leap backwards from last seasons football and have fallen off a cliff results wise from our first 10 games so this analogy of us being a work-in-progress, as though we’re improving each game is more waffle. We still don’t know our best 11, we still don’t have a style of play (unless it’s hoof and hope) and we still don’t know our best formation or how to get a tune out of the best squad in the league. We’re on a downward trajectory under Butler and the board are merely prolonging the agony for supporters and decimating the goodwill they banked, with their silence and inaction.

3 points is 3 points but listening on the wireless it sounded like an 80 minute extension of the Alfreton game with a very soft penalty to gift us the win.
Any positives that could be taken from the game (and aside from the result there were very few) were subsequently obliterated by Butler’s PR disaster-class Humberside interview. A very foolish move which only serves to reinforce the view that he’s not that bright. Make no mistake, the disdain he showed Turner, was equally directed towards the fans. Throw in the post match summary ‘outside noise’ comment and the approach appears to be bollocks to unity and the fans that raised tens of thousands to save the club and buy a record number of season tickets. The win somewhat papers the cavernous cracks, but it’s clear to all that his days are numbered.
From Alfreton, the worst game seen at GP in most of our lifetimes, to this week’s worst interview ever given by an SUFC manager? Who needs Santa Claus when Butler is the gift that keeps on giving this festive season.

Blooming heck ..as Lou says to Andy ..this is a right carfuffle.
Opinions are what makes the forums tick and when it comes to football everyone has an opinion more so for your hometown club when its going through rough times, everyone is entitled to their opinion so if i wish to predict as i see things panning out i will do so regardless …
Spot on IFA. Super-mod isn’t a fan of predictions unless it’s sunshine and rainbows. I was similarly batted down for my summer prediction of, 5 at the back, long direct football, and that if we weren’t winning playing an unattractive style, gates would a-tumble. Eeerily accurate even if I do say so myself. So much so I will probably be accused of ‘self-fulfilling the prophecy’!
Agree with everything you’ve said but am reserving some hope that the board will react accordingly to low gate numbers and we will get the much needed new manager bounce before we drop too far down the table. Yes, Fitz has been huge for us again this season and I dread to think where we would be without him, equally Cal Roberts but can’t see any situation where we manage to hold onto him beyond this season, think we will be lucky to keep him beyond January if he stays fit.
Enjoy your weekends fellas. First Saturday in as long as I can remember where not having an SUFC game to watch or tune into has felt like a welcome break. But guess a game like last week’s will do that to you!
It’s the personal attacks on Butler and anyone who doesn’t agree with you 414 that I find most galling.
‘Personal attack’ for making an assumption that our manager has a low IQ? Was it a personal attack on Jimmy when you referred to him as ‘unintelligent’ then? Is it a personal attack on players then when they are referred to as crap / passing sideways / can’t score for toffee? Thicker skin needed my old china!
Your list of bitter Butler insults and nastiness increases by the post
And you talk of hyperbole? Hehe!
Did it occur to you that my posts increasing in criticism could be correlating with the increasingly poor performances we’ve seen, culminating in Saturdays disgrace to football being one of (if not the) worst games of football witnessed in most of our lifetimes at GP. Could that possibly be the case? Nahhh course it couldn’t, that would make a bit too much bloody sense for this forum. Back to agendas, conspiracy theories and new age bollocks. As you were!Agree an experienced manager who knows and has had success at this level and the one above is needed. I’ve said previously, being an ok player plus doing a coaching badge course, doesn’t automatically give one the skill set required for management. What we’ve seen thus far, and the fact he was fired from the Donny belles, would indicate Butler does not possess the necessary skills.
Bizarre team choices with majority playing out of position, baffling substitutions, poor tactics no matter how much ‘homework’ we’ve allegedly done, coaching good players into average/poor ones, fixation on fitness over football, inability to identify players to improve the squad, inability to convince our best players to stay*, poor media skills, poor communication skills, unwilling to learn, unwilling to accept responsibility for poor performances, unable to handle warranted criticism, the list goes on…
But most critical to his unsuitability for the job, is his complete inability to read the game and make the necessary adjustments, both during the match or even (after the ‘reviewing and reflecting’ we hear so much about) for the next match. His lack of ability to read the game is further highlighted by the staggering post match interviews which more times than not have many of us questioning whether we have entered some alternate universe and watched an entirely different match. Extended contract or not he has to go.
*and no that doesn’t just come down to money, sometimes the players have to believe in the manager / prospects for success and I’m sure those that departed are thinking ‘thank fook’ after Saturday’s abomination
** reposted with edit to remove ‘low IQ’.
Having combed through the post that is the only comment that could be deemed ‘personally insulting’. Granted TJO, I accept and apologise as I don’t know his low IQ to be fact, it’s purely speculative based on his interviews in which I do find him be a poor orator. All other criticisms and points as to why he’s not a suitable manager for our club stand and are fair observations, purely about the football, nothing personal, though that doesn’t take away from the fact he was a decent defender for us a decade ago. We’ve had a few other decent players for us in that period of time too and I wouldn’t take any of them as manager either as good player doesn’t always = good manager. Therein lies the problem with returning to previous clubs as manager where a player has had a decent career. If it doesn’t work out invariably it will taint previous successes as it is impossible to separate player from manager, when ultimately they are the same person.
‘it was aimed at those that think they have all the answers and shouldn’t be challenged about them.
I certainly don’t think there’s anyone on this forum who has all the answers, but I think given this squad and the resources we have at SUFC, there’s a manager out there who does. That manager isn’t Butler.
