Glad common sense has been applied here but it was still a stupid thing to do in this day and age. Just don’t raise your hands period, it’s not bloody rocket science and Clarke is not a hot headed rookie, he should have known better and also should be setting a better example to younger players.

I think we should all be grateful that it appears we will still have a viable football club running next season after the last twelve months, boring or not. I say ” appears ” because nothing in football and finance is absolutely certain.

I’m just being realistic Cass, in the world of the egotistical footballer, they aren’t going to come on here and listen to what all us lot spout, they don’t give a flying f*** about what us lot say it’s just between us. It’s about as relevant as badge kissing and doing it for the fans, the majority of em IMO just see it as a decent career for a short time and earn as much as possible. I must admit I don’t blame them either, if someone outside of my workplace with no practical working knowledge in that industry came on a forum and told me what to do and how to act at work,I would ignore them too.

Wow, if the players believe anything on this board and take it to heart, they really are stupid.

Go on then alcy, no doubting it was a terrible game but Cox has been crucified by some over games this season for chopping and changing his side, sometimes 5 players at a time. Today he left things alone apart from one change, then after the game he said the team looked leggy and he blamed the Saturday/ Tuesday scenario finally catching up with the side. He also said he didn’t make wholesale changes prior to ko as he thought the team from Tuesday could still give him more. So, has he made a mistake by not making changes?, or if he had made changes yet the outcome had been similar would he have been criticised for making wholesale changes? I know it’s catch 22 stuff but it’s a case of damned if he does or damned if he doesn’t. The main thing is, whether the game was shite or not, it’s another point for consolidation, with Barrow, Grimsby and obviously Southend drawing we are still in a very good position compared to teams below us with one game less to play. Now we have seen the performance and the result is in ( hindsight ) what would the experts on this forum think Cox should have done team wise prior to kick off without hindsight? Not easy is it when people nail you whatever course you take team wise be it no change or too many changes. At least Cox admitted it was poor stuff and didn’t try and hide but what would the forum experts have done prior to ko team wise? Can’t wait for the expert views to come in.

It’s a game we should really win and we are playing so much better as a team since we went down there in December and lost in a miserable display. The games we have lost since we beat Grimsby have been to better teams we should probably lose to anyway this season but we have picked up some good wins and of late good draws against sides we could have lost too prior to Xmas. I’m looking for us to bang another nail into the Southend coffin tomorrow and keep ourselves looking upward.

Well said MK young players need and should get plenty of backing from the fans, completely agree about some jumping on their backs when things don’t go great some of the time. Wooton has bagged a nice amount of goals since going to Notts County and I’m delighted for the lad, hope he goes on to have a long successful career, as for Sutton, he’s back next week with Bradford and he’s been playing really well for them, we shall see what he does to us. Haven’t seen Novak in their squads lately after he started well for them, guess he’s injured.

Good point Cliff, a repeat from the next 11 games will see us on 59 points, not too shabby for a first season manager plauged with injuries to senior players and struggling to find a shape for a load of inexperienced younger players. I’ll take it.

Law of averages kicking in with these recent draws against teams we should have probably beaten, yeah we can moan about Cox and his tactics etc etc etc but we were due a few draws and these things invariably even themselves out over a season. Main thing is we probably won’t need 50 points now to be 100% safe ( I think most of us know we already are ) but just feast your eyes a few miles eastbound along the M180 and imagine how our fishy friends are feeling, in fact don’t imagine just nip on their forum and read. Most of them are on the verge of cutting their own throats ( or gills ) tonight, so let’s be grateful for what we have at GP now after such a poor run up till Xmas. Cox has struggled at times that is true but his playing squad is mainly inexperienced and his senior players have been mainly injured or not fully fit. Cox himself is learning as he goes along in his first job so it’s probably time we cut him a bit more slack and chopping and changing managers hasn’t worked out too well for us in recent years so let’s give this lad a fair crack and hopefully next season won’t feel so traumatic. I’ll put my tin hat on and wait for BS to pass his sever judgement on this post but in truth I don’t give a shit what he says anyway, it’s just an opinion.

    I

Depends what PL teams you are talking about NI, one team very rarely gets a penalty against them but gets loads themselves, same with red cards, very rare for them to get one.

Not the red half of Manchester by any chance? 🤔😂

Annoying familiar habit of sitting back after starting brightly and scoring early, then a free header in the box from 4 yards out is scored by them, so bloody frustrating. Then the tactical sub, then the change of shape and we should have won it and with better refereeing we would. If we start with the second shape and Spence on we win the game end of. Think the manager got the first half wrong today but an away point is still a good result in the grand scheme of things. Must win Tuesday night now and start with the proper shaped team please Mr Cox.

Although the wage cap is lifted, the chairman made it clear in the summer that the spend spend era was over. Now most of our better players are out of contract in the summer and the VanVeen’s, MaGahey’s, Gilleads, Eisa’s etc were signed on two and two and a half year deals when the spend mindset was still in place. There are recurring injuries to consider as mentioned by les but I believe and have stated elsewhere that next season will see more young inexperienced players brought in and Cox told to get on and sort it. Agree that Clarke and Brown will go but to have very few experienced players would be disastrous IMO, young players are fully of energy and enthusiasm but a few bad games and a few knocks then heads will drop. Old guns can handle all that and keep going and more importantly will encourage the younger lads with words and deeds. Swann will know all this but whether he relents on higher wages for some older heads remains to be seen. I guess it’s the great unknown at the moment but I fear the worse.

I believe the majority of clubs have plenty of big ego look at me types in their ranks, difference with the better players at bigger clubs that have arrogant spats is that they usually have the talent to back their arrogance up and get back in the gaffers favour. McAtee isn’t a top player but he has ability which should make him a good player in time at a reasonable level if he listens to coaches, works hard and puts his ego on the back burner for a bit. Not easy for a young man with reasonable ability but who thinks he is Maradona and I don’t mean dead either.

Well someone is tinkering that is for sure.

Well I hope its not Ranieri, the original Tinkerman, according to the media anyway. As for Exeter playing the same team on Saturday I’m not sure that is relevant TBH all set ups are different. This injury issue was hear a long time before Cox arrived, how many years has it been mentioned now?, the reasons?, we are still none the wiser.

Just seen last night’s highlights on you tube, when you are shit you are shit end of. Great free kick by their lad and almost a repeat second half, think we are lucky not to have lost by five or six watching that short summary. Move onto Saturday quick. 😂

Looking at the table after our recent good run of four straight wins, I believe Cox will now be targeting even more then usual on what games are winnable and what games are not. He will be resting players as a result of the two game a week situation and on top of injuries plus fatigue will be attempting to target the more winnable games IHO with the best players used at his disposal for said games. Won’t be the way a lot of fans think he should go about it but managers think differently to the majority of fans because they are professional football managers. I know it’s an old chestnut of mine and everybody is entitled to see it as they seem fit but professional football managers just see it differently to most fans, that’s all. I’m sure three wins will see us safe and he will target those as quick as possible when the fixtures are right with the best and fittest players available, then everything else is a bonus plus the freedom of playing more openly when the pressure is off about staying up. Expect to see a stronger more proactive team put out on Saturday at Orient and against Oldham on Tuesday, fitness and injury permitting.

I’ll take another point gladly against such a good side and our well documented injury concerns. We haven’t drawn many this season, maybe tonight they will be like buses and come in pairs. 1-1 sounds ok to me and no more bloody injuries.

All points about those players and a few more I made the other week DSGM and you are spot on, it will be more young pretenders lacking experience but raring to go, however we have improved since Xmas because despite players like Loft beginning to find his feet, the older heads have regained fitness and joined the fight. We can’t expect a lack experience next season to be our only way forward, we need a few old heads to show them the way. That’s how not only football works but life in general.

We all remember when Toney got mardy over who takes pens when it was clearly Josh Morriss who not only took them but had taken them for over a season. Eisa has been taking pens for awhile now to the best of my knowledge so VanVeen should back off and let him continue. We all know he wants to come back and make an impression and when he’s fit and in the mood he is a top player but that doesn’t come at the expense of team spirit and unity which since the start of the year has been excellent. Come on Kev wind your neck in and show a bit of good grace and common sense.

Just a great point today, well done guys a rare but welcome draw, let’s just crack on with three more wins we should be fine, but I’ll settle for seven. Hope MaGahey is not going to be out for another long spell, with Taft out till next season and Manny still struggling we don’t need anymore centre back problems. When you see the gap between us and our struggling fishy fans, becoming adrift at the foot of league two, t just shows how we have kicked in despite injury problems since beating the Cods. Well done all round at GP. 👏👏👏
