And we won a match without any loan players in the team. Cox and Swann both said the season starts on Saturday (a bit late of course), but let’s hope these players with McGahey get and stay fit. Hopefully this match wasn’t a one off success.
Cox was full of praise for Beestin and his attitude on Tuesday. Hopefully he can emerge as a character to add a bit of drive to the team. A big ask given his inexperience, but it’s up to Cox and Lillis to at least give some more energy to the team.
It is possible for young midfielders to take charge, Yates and Crooks, but we clearly don’t have anybody with that quality. Hopefully some will start to improve – let’s hope it happens soon or we are doomed!!!
“Turan is awful where did we find him”.
A quick look on Wikipedia should have been enough to make a decision on him!
Think you are right NI, though I remember their goals more than ours!!
Turned out to be a great season. Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Lincoln in the top 3. McMenemy and Cods getting massive gates.
We were top after 30 games, got beat again by Grimsby in a match that was as memorable for the crowd trouble.
Went downhill a bit from there (not just happened in recent years), but we managed to pip Lincoln to 4th place.
One of many Cod nightmares from that period. Also remember watching us lose 4v1 on the first match of the season. Tees scored a hat trick.
“I like to think that I can relate to the young of today, after all I was young once, unlike many on here who were born Oap’s well a least forgotten their youth and what they used to get up to”.
You’ve got plenty of time to write your autobiography instead of searching for varieties of lettuce – it’s sure to be a best seller in Crosby!!
Boots intend to charge £120 per test to the public when and if their 13 minute test becomes available. Would be interested to know the base cost for the test.
The day will arrive when one of the players, managers, coaches, support staff or members of their immediate families dies from Covid.
NOT sure about Swann’s balls, but his brain is working well on this issue. Ferrite is correct, the employer has a basic duty of care to undertake risk assessments and ensure that appropriate testing is carried out.
Player safety and that of their close contacts comes before fulfilling fixtures.
Good response BS, we all want them to improve and you are right that the team needs to have a go and be more attacking. We have proven that when we play not to lose, we lose!!
It’s not that we don’t have any role models is it. Townsend, Wallace, Holmes, and loan players like Toney, Norwood, Lundstrum, Yates, Johnstone.
Some of the loan players didn’t have much impact here, but I bet all the above have worked hard, given their best and improved their game and fitness levels and all are earning life changing money in the top 2 leagues.
It’s OK for McAtee to be angry about being subbed. It’s up to him to make sure it doesn’t happen too often, unless of course he’s done enough to win a game or two for us.
NOT been too impressed with Loft, Jarvis or Turan. If you are going to play a big un, they have to be good and hold the ball up. Cox seems to want to play 1 tall striker up top, and the first 8 games have proved that it doesn’t work.
Much prefer 2 smarter players up front, though I agree that McAtee needs to show more now he’s getting fitter. Don’t know why these players don’t understand that playing well and showing you are a good player is the route to get a good move.
BS, the first 8 league matches have been terrible, not arguing with you there. But I ask again, what did you expect from the remnants of a bottom of the league team with lots of new, young non league and out of contract players?
It’s taken 8 matches to sort out who has promise and who doesn’t, hard workers and slackers. We’ve seen Loft have 1 good game, an OK game and not a lot after that. Jarvis showing some promise, but now missing chances. Rowe come in and have a good game (despite your 4 score), Beestin and Hallam have 1 good game, Green do well, Hipploite praised after his first match and not good since. Taylor and McAtee hopefully getting stronger, Onarise first choice centre back, Van Veen and McGahey back soon, new goalie who should have been here from day 1.
We gave Exeter a good game yesterday. Not much to get excited about, we still lost, but some signs of improvement.
I would suggest that our best team is something like this:
Howard
Clarke/Rowe, Onarise, McGahey, Brown
Gillead, Taylor, Beestin, Eisa
Van Veen, McAteeWe’ve not seen anything like that team yet for various reasons, but I hope Cox gets the chance to find a settled side soon, and then we will see whether he can or can’t do the job.
I know and you know and Cox knows he won’t be here for much longer if we keep losing and he continues to pick the wrong players and tactics.
Where have I said anywhere that I am happy with the way things are going or would be OK if we got relegated. We are where we are and we all know the reasons why. It’s not all this manager’s fault though is it?
“many on here said after a couple of games, “give it ten games£, well the ten games are now reached and we have just the one luckey win, what do those supporters say now ????”lets give it another ten” ????”
No, let’s give it another 36!! Do you expect a medal for stating the bleeding obvious?
Of course things are bad, Cox is a new manager and was given a choice from 30 mostly unproven players combined with the remnants of a team that finished near the bottom last year.
Hardly surprising we’ve been crap is it, but signs today that some progress is being made. Of course Cox wasn’t there and we all know that if he doesn’t find his best team soon, he won’t be here for much longer.
What did you expect? Hardly supportive to give a player who was having his first match and scored a 5 is it?
Suppose they are assuming that they are young, fit and should recover. Does not necessarily apply to the coaching staff, e.g. Lillis. Situation might change if there are any deaths.
Swann just said Football League rules are you play if you have 13 fit players or a fine and points deduction. Hullberside also said the FL are having an investigation into whether the Cods broke the rules.
It’s getting more ridiculous. The West Ham match has been given a 12A film certificate.
Bad news for the Iron who will surely get an 18XXX. Don’t want any juniors being exposed to how not to play football.
You will come to regret this post when we win 1v2!!
Are all the other clubs putting his name forward?
Our goalie fell over, isn’t that an automatic free-kick?
Hooper 19 goals – £2.4 million
Carroll 17 goals – £34 millionWe got a corner in the 100th minute!
So the 25% of future TV money and an immediate £250 million offer was rejected because there were too many strings attached. Fair enough, but who at the Premier League thought that £20m and £30m grants was anywhere near an attractive alternative offer.
That’s £30m less than Harry Maguire cost!!!
Have looked at the detail and you are right, the top clubs aren’t giving nothing away. But the offer is better than what the Premier League have proposed so far – nothing!
The Football League were offered 20% of the Sky money in 1995 and they turned it down!!!
This new offer is 25% and an immediate 250 million. The EFL would be daft not to seriously consider this. The problem will be the other Premier League teams who aren’t in the top tier of 9.
The idea that any chairman would spend money on up to 30 players, manager and staff to achieve relegation from League 2 is just stupid!!

McAtee Taylor“All this “oh he has issues”..you’re right he has but he’s clearly not done anything to rectify them”.
Have you considered that might be the biggest issue of them all?
“why are people so sensitive”. You’re the one who’s dishing out the insults just because people don’t share your twisted sense of “reality”. You sure you got iron in your blood?
You’re right it is a football forum. So what does this have to do with football?
“This country is a fuc**** joke ,full of nanny state prat’s,on a final note perhaps Enoch Powell was right ,can’t wait for the rivers of blood he predicted just a matter of time due to our nanny state.on a final note if this upsets some of you I couldn’t give a shit”.
