Credit to Nelson, his comments were spot on. His comments also show he was completely unaware that Turnbull’s statement was coming.
Turnbull says Nelson was ‘disappointed’ with the protest but Nelson’s own words show he wasn’t. Think Turnbull has done some great work since his arrival but that statement came across like a Swann Puppet Statement. He could’ve quite easily said he disagreed with the protest and chosen much better wording and at least offered some understanding. Poor from him and poor from the club.6 users thanked author for this post.
I agree we had odd decent times in possession. We so desperately need some creativity across the pitch though. Very one dimensional on the ball. Thought Rowe was very flat footed when he got beaten for their first goal.
Got to feel for Owen Foster, I’ve personally not been in the ‘Drop Dewhurst’ brigade. I think he has been beaten easily at times but also made some fantastic saves. 2 direct errors leading to goals for Foster today, can he be started against what I’m sure will be a full-strength Chesterfield. Big decision to make.1 user thanked author for this post.
Anybody watch the game tonight? I watched it on the Wrexham iPlayer. Looked a fairly simple night for them. Thought we started brightly but it quickly dimmed into mediocrity with a few decent counter attacks & half chances. Their commentator made comments on a number of their players saying it was ‘first start’ or ‘returning from injury’.
I agree we can’t get too excited yet, nothing has confirmed whether he is selling. Statement to come this weekend which I’m sure will clear many of our questions up.
Simon resigning his position as director and then this? Is it optimistic thinking to wonder if he is behind a bid to take over the club?

CBRP and Northumbiron are absolutely bang on. The ‘tinkerman’ has been forced into changes this week so calling him out for making changes is ridiculous. 3 changes on Tuesday were for fatigue reasons, which is fair enough. We’d be the first to moan is they all played and got injured in the game. Those 3 then came back in today. McGahey and Clarke not involved due to injury reasons. So 5 changes through the week all from fatigue or injury. The performance today was poor today we can all see that, and Cox came out and was honest in his interview on Humberside and said how poor it was.
@letsgeo @Noriman agree with both of these comments, not the best football played by a long shot but we can’t go and play football everywhere, hard fought gutsy performance where ever man played for the shirt and points. Really good to see.
Think the ratings above are pretty accurate in fairness. My opinion is:
Howard: 6 – Distribution not great big save at end before foul. Not much else.
Rowe: 6 – looked solid before yellow card then got too cautious and was caught out a couple of times.
McGahey: 8 – great to have him back in there, (thought it was abit hard on Bedeau as he played very well vs Oldham) but showed his quality today.
Onariase: 9 – looked solid again today, put everything on the line. Was it a pen at the end? Who knows! Proper centre half.
Brown: 7 – solid, few wayward balls as with everyone.
Gillead: 5 – slowest performance I’ve seen from him for a while. Wouldn’t look into it too much, been fantastic so far this season.
Spence: 7 – battled hard, off the ball work is there. Tough game for all midfield
Beestin: 6 – not his type of game today but battled hard. Good partnership building between the two.
Eisa: 8 – worked hard, outball and showed quality. Unbelievable strike.
Loft: 9 – best game I’ve seen from the lad, worked hard won a lot and went out to prove a point, hit the post and showed confidence.
KVV: 7 – worked hard, looked a worse side without him. Battled hard and looked like the feisty KVV we saw under Hurst.
3 points is 3 points and I’m chuffed to bits with that. Big professional performance and showed character and spirit. Bring on Saturday. UTI.
@mistertonmick yes today has probably proved how much we have missed some players in the squad and how much of a boost it was having them back.
Don’t a worry I’m not calling them out, just stating they didn’t play the 90 for those who didn’t watch. I think they both did very well and was chuffed when I saw them both in the lineup. Two big players returning
Yes I definitely think so Nothumbiron. Just listened to Cox on Humberside and he said he kept them both playing slightly longer then expected, Clarke when he pulled up was only cramp so nothing to worry too much about. He said Tuesday might come too soon, but yeah both did very well. Kvv definitely in with a strong shout for MOTM.
Much better performance and one I enjoyed watching today. Let’s hope for more of the same with a big test against Vale.Got to say I agree with Eandmee, possibly another Cm needed to thicken the squad? But Beestin has hardly had a sniff and has 50 apps under his belt with Donny and Taylor still yet to come out his shell after a ‘wonder’ year with Port Vale.
With additions of Howard and Brown we finally have more experience at the back and if/when Clarke returns that’s another massively experienced player (with quality). Flying Dutchman still yet to return. Call me a happy clapper but after recent (last 2 games) I feel the worst could be over. UTI -
