Not about the Sag or the amount of employees we had Ferrite. Or the debt left by Swanny how strange.
No idea what you’re on about but I don’t think anyone has forgotten about Swann & the debts he left us with. But unsurprisingly that’s not as relevant on a thread about Hilton.
Agreed. But (correct me if I’m wrong) that’s two or three times he’s singled Elliott out as a bit suspect in statements he’s made since leaving the club.
Trying to drive a wedge between the new ownership and the fans?
I don’t believe any of that statement and don’t need to hear anything more from this chancer.
The debts are nearly under control…ground is going to look fantastic, we have a new manager in so all we need now is the playing staff to match everything else.
Nearly a complete turnaround from where we were.
Fully agree with you WG, we just have to remember that the bank account is going to be virtually empty when it comes to fans calling for signings. Trust the board, they’ve more than earned it.
Evidently it was a blessing in disguise we didn’t get promoted, was it a blessing in disguise that Swanny separated the club from the ground and thus allowing Michelle to purchase the club whereas she wouldn’t have been able to go anywhere near it if they were as one.
I know you’re a tedious wind-up merchant but would you mind finding a different board to do it on? Because you haven’t even got the nous to be witty.
Nothing more boring in football than transfer speculation. We’ll sign who we sign and we can worry about it next season.
Went down the other day and thought the volunteers have done a cracking job tbh.
It’s to Peter Swann’s embarrassment that he allowed to run it down to such a state after pumping X amount of millions in over the years and supposedly being a hospitality expert.
I was against Swann from an early stage, chiefly because I could see that all he was doing was spending money on players. There was no “investment”. Buying players is not “investing” in a club. Building bricks & mortar, improving facilities, putting in place people & processes that can take the club forward: that’s investment. When Swann eventually left, there was NOTHING to show for all that spending. Worse, as a result of all those signings, we no longer owned our own ground.
Swann kept going on about building a new ground but at no point did he show any sign that he could get more out of the existing one. The Iron Bar remained the same, the toilets never improved, fans returning after Covid were told there were plenty of spare seats to choose from if their reserved one was filthy.
Now we have someone who knows what she’s doing but who is humble enough to draw on the skills & expertise of others: making sure you’ve got the right people in the right positions is one of the key jobs of someone running a company. It’s something we’ve not had for over a decade.

One in the eye for the “my way or the highway” approach of previous regimes.
Robins – Yes in keeping us in L1.No in Driving us forward. YES
Alexander – Yes in getting us to the play offs. No in getting us up. NOI have completely different verdicts on those two.
It is incredibly impressive, but saying “3 more payments left” makes it seem a bit rosier than it actually is, which is not to say that we are in a much better position than 8 months ago.
Michelle said all the rest of the debts owed have 3 more payments left, so going by that we will in deed be out of most, if not all of the debts.
That’s not quite what I heard. I heard her say we still owe £300k and that some of them are being managed, like the electricity bill.
Pugh’s hardly featured has he? Probably came down to a choice between him & Shrimpton and Fin’s younger I think? Those offered contracts are all definite first teamers – pretty much – so it makes sense to prioritise them.
Surprised about Sembie-Ferris though, I felt he offered something we didn’t have, in the form of width & pace. But Butler did mention on the Bru podcast that he was looking for a stronger, robust team this time around.
Word for Roj Rahman too, I don’t know him but he came across really well in that interview, particularly the way he deferred to Michelle Harness and spoke about the different directors having different areas of responsibility; I think that’s important, and shows that people are all pulling in the same direction.
The contrast to the last 2 owners, who both wanted to make it all about them, is incredible. Talking frankly, not hiding behind phrases like “I’ll be as honest with you as I can”, not looking to find excuses. Really positive stuff, despite all the problems which they are still facing.
I’d love to know how much the talents of people like Michelle were harnessed (pun intended) under Swann’s ownership. I certainly have my suspicions….

True, under Dean it was often winning ugly.
But under Nelson it was just 9 games, W.2 D2.L5.
Losing pretty?Dean’s record that season after replacing Nelson was W3 D3 L12 which is a worse record by my maths, and that was with all the signings he was able to make under Hilton – huge numbers of players came in and virtually all had left by the start of the following season. People seem to have forgotten just how terrible a job Dean did in those 6 months. It’s not to say Nelson would have been any better but he had shown promise which was soon washed away under Dean.
He scored some great goals, but it was his intelligence with passing and touch that has always stayed with me. A cut above.
Absolutely, his passing & vision made Garry Hooper’s career, their partnership is the best I’ve seen for Scunthorpe and I include Sharp & Keogh in that.
And Henderson & Juryeff.
Legend gets bounded about a lot, but Hayes will always be an Iron great to me. Some of the ‘lazy Hayesy’ stuff was ridiculous.
Completely agree. Touch, vision, power, skill, a wonderful player. That goal on his third debut at Mansfield will stay with me forever, just like those goals at Chelsea, at home to Grimsby and on his debut v. Hull.
It’s not so much political beliefs as tin-foil-hat stuff. For such an intelligent player on the pitch, he doesn’t show the same acumen on his social media.
Hope not, wonderful player but judging by his Twitter output he’s gone a bit Matt LeTissier in recent years.
Are Bury fans in that league so very different to our fans in this league?
Notice he’s not said which comments his objects to,
Notice he hasn’t said anything about the abuse he was hurling at the referee at Spennymoor, that was picked up on the TV coverage.
For those asking about Dean’s contract… again… from the Pboro local paper, his intial contract says it ran till June i make it.
All player contracts expire at the end of June, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager’s contract had the same expiry date.
“what is with people’s obsession with Nelson lol”.
Must be his 23% games won record.
Lies, damned lies & statistics – Nelson’s record was a considerable improvement from where we had been.
A raffle rather than an auction might be a fairer option, otherwise the bidding price will quickly put it out of reach of a lot of people.
No need for name calling but otherwise the criticism in this thread is pretty mild. Is Max’s skin really that thin? I remember him being quite critical of a previous owner for a similar failing. Maybe they have more in common than divides them?
Denton surprises me – from what I have seen he looks reasonably solid & reliable but nothing spectacular.
Former manager at Doncaster Belles, I think?

Hmmm doesn’t sound like it when she says “the budget and payroll far exceed the level we are currently operating at” and need to be brought under control, starting with management and players.
Maybe we can also find someone who talks a good game even if we lose. A few posters think it important.
Ah but my point is that we actually have money this year, in stark contrast to last year when our owner was making commitments that would never be kept.
Sadly, we’re back in the precarious situation of a year ago, with a smaller squad and less to spend.
We’ve got more money to spend than this time last year, never forget that!
Either Muzzy is on 10 bob a week or he really is made of Teflon.
Must be the former, since he clearly can’t afford a barber!
hopefully it will be a lot smaller squad than the quality of players to save money
Not sure I agree with that – a larger squad is a distinct advantage for a full-time team in this league, with the ability to bring in decent replacements when injuries & suspensions take hold in the middle of the season when you’re playing twice a week.
I am amazed how much he seems to have bonded with the fans, given how completely uninspiring he was. Compare him with Adkins – who would convince you north was south, backwards was forwards, that everything was possible. Dean would come on the radio after a defeat and sounded like his world was about to end.
I appreciate he was dealing with issues off the field but I never got any sense of leadership from him. If he can’t excite the fans, is he motivating the players too?
